Not only is the squeaky clean Phil Pringle inviting his notorious buddy Kong Hee to speak this year at his 2014 Presence Conference, not only has he invited the internationally renowned coward Louie Giglio to speak, Phil Pringle has invited the one and only Brian Houston.

It is of our opinion that Christians are waking up to the scandals Phil Pringle is associated with in Singapore, Korea and Asheville. Thus there is a possibility registration numbers are down for Pringle’s 2014 Presence Conference.

Observing that Pringle and Houston are bonding more closely from November 2013 onwards, it is our opinion that Pringle has invited Houston to speak so to boost attendance to this year’s Presence Conference.

But does Phil Pringle really want to invite Brian Houston to speak at his conference? Shouldn’t Pringle be concerned with the theological integrity of those he invites?

Today, Apprising reported the following,

WF PREACHER BRIAN HOUSTON SAYS CHRISTIANS SERVE SAME GOD AS MUSLIMS

Or maybe not; apparently he’s backtracking and not sure now. As you may know Apprising Ministries has been monitoring the rapid apostatizing going on within mainstream evangelicalism; and the fact that rebels against God’s Word like Brian Houston are gaining respect within wider evangelicalism is yet another example.

A couple of examples; just a few days ago we had T.D. Jakes Presents Word Faith Leadership Conference where Houston was a headliner. You might remember that in 2012 he was brought in by Rick Warren as you can see in Word Faith Preacher Brian Houston of Hillsong Church, Australia Speaking at Saddleback Church.

In fact, earlier that year Warren’s fellow Evangelical Ecumenical Magisterium member Mark Driscoll placed his own blessing upon the heretical Houston:

Then there’s the following platform set for the upcoming C3 2014 Presence Conference, which I showed you before in Louis Giglio Stands with Word Faith Preachers Phil Pringle, Brian Houston, and Kong Hee at C3 Church:

Sadly, as hyper-charismania and its parallel track of Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism continue to spread throughout younger sectors of the evangelical community so does a phony unity being promulgated by the deceitful spirits (cf. 1 Timothy 4:1) who’re speaking to practioners of charismania. This is not of God.

Neither is what you’re about to hear taught by Brian Houston, who is Senior Pastor of the nefarious WF Hillsong Church (HC) Australia along with his wife pastrix Bobbie.1 What I’m going to show you was published at You Tube by HC on January 5. 2014; obviously, it’s a teaching that’s approved by Houston and his elders.2

A transcript of this short clip from Hillsong TV // Living For The Master’s Well Done, Pt1 with Brian Houston follows below:

How do you view God in a desert? There’s two types of birds. There’s vultures, and there’s hummingbirds. One lives off dead carcasses, rotting meat.

The other lives off the beautiful, sweet, nectar in a particular flower, on a particular desert plant, in the same desert. They both find what they’re looking for.

Do you know—take it all the way back into the Old Testament—and the Muslim and you, we actually serve the same God. Allah, to a Muslim; to us, Abba Father, God.

It would seem pretty clear above that Brian Houston has just told us those who adhere to the world religion of Islam, the followers of the prophet Muhammad, are serving the same God as those of us who are regenerated believers in the one true and living God of the Bible, the followers of Christ Jesus, the Lord.

But, “O no,” says Houston now, “that’s not quite what I meant.” For you see, yesterday he would tweet the following in response to pastor Matthew Johnston:

Unfortunately for Brian Houston, his clarification really doesn’t help him. First of all, Islamic history says the faith originates with an extraterrestrial visit:

Muslim tradition states that the angel Gabriel visited Muhammad and gave him the words [of the Qur'an] directly from Allah. (source)

However, if there truly was such a visit, then it was a lying spirit, possibly sent by God Himself (cf. 1 Kings 22:19-23). In other words, it would have been a demon who was impersonating the angel Gabriel. It’s also important at this point to understand that:

The Qur’an (Koran, Quran) is the Holy Book of Islam and the religion’s most sacred writing.  Muslims consider it the actual word of Allah and not the word of Muhammad to whom it was given. (source)

Now, since the Qur’an was supposedly brought by that being, who allegedly appeared to Muhammad, contradicts the Bible on the nature of God, then we know that this being could not have been an angel sent by the LORD God Almighty. If anything appeared at all, then it would have a lying, deceitful, spirit i.e. a demon.

Islam is not an Abrahamic faith because Allah, the god of Islam, is nothing at all like the Biblical revelation of the only God there is. And the Lord told us quite clearly in His inerrant and infallible Word in the Bible that:

what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons.

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. (1 Corinthians 10:20-12)

So, the Christian is forbidden to have anything to do with the god of the Muslim, let alone to serve their demon(s) impersonating God. In closing this, for now, let’s take a little closer look at what Brian Houston is attempting to teach us as he asks: “How do you view God in a desert?” I assume the desert would symbolize our world.

I’m not sure Houston’s going to look as good to the Muslim as he may have been attempting to because next he tells us that, “There’s two types of birds. There’s vultures, and there’s hummingbirds.” As I see it, vultures must refer to Islam because he sets in contrast the diet of the vultures with that of the hummingbirds:

One lives off dead carcasses, rotting meat. The other lives off the beautiful, sweet, nectar in a particular flower, on a particular desert plant, in the same desert.

We have both the Muslims and the Christians in the same “desert” (our world?); then Muslims (vultures?) apparently seek after the “dead carcasses, rotting meat” (of the Qur’an?) while Christians (hummingbirds?) prefer the “beautiful, sweet, nectar” of the flower (the Bible?) But then his metaphor completely breaks down.

Houston opines, “They both find what they’re looking for.” No, they don’t. If the food’s supposed to bring the sustenance of a relationship with God, the faithful Muslim won’t find the Gospel of repentance and forgiveness of sins in Jesus’ Name in the Qur’an. Extending Houston’s metaphor, the vultures will only starve and die eternally.

Again, it’s merely a guess on my part as to what Brian Houston was trying to accomplish with this teaching because I don’t presume to know what’s in his heart. It seems to me that he was trying to be Muslim-friendly; and from his tweet, apparently Houston’s under a very common, but mistaken, impression about Islam.

Far too many professing Christians today believe that Islam is an Abrahamic faith; but as I said earlier, it’s own tradition reveals it originated with a demon. I’ll leave you with the following comparison of the god of Islam and the one true and living God of Holy Scripture in the Bible from Christianity and Islam—The Same God?
