“And I just got to say that, Sun and I from the bottom of our hearts, together with our eldership, our leadership: we are very very grateful for C3 for releasing Pastor Phil and Pastor Chris to be our Advisory Pastor.
And what does that mean to be Advisory Pastor? If anything happens to me, he’s taking over my church. So, you know- I don’t know- Is that good or bad news for you? Haha!
Yeah, but Pastor Phil has been a pillar to our ministry for the last three years.” – Kong Hee, Global C3 Presence Conference, Day 1, Session 1, 2013.
Did not kong hee say that he heard God say to him “everything will be all right”
No matter who is in charged, the staff of CHC or any church must this lesson and that is never take verbal instruction from your bosses esp in money matters. To safeguard yourselves from being implicated in any wrong doing, insist on instruction in writing and make a copy for your own safe keeping to protect yourself. I learnt this in my workplace where when something goes wrong the boss pretends he is ignorant or that his instruction was misunderstood.
More fascinating, though sad, comments from a City Harvest Church member – this church is hurting….
“I’ve always regarded CHC as a family. But recently, I had a tough question. What IF Pst Kong & co were indeed found guilty of conspiring to move millions from the building fund around to support Sun’s career? I was asking myself, whatever good intention there may be, does that justify the means (ie. technically “investing” building fund into Sun’s singing career)?
My leaders seem to brush off my questions and that worried me. What worried me even more was their candid disdain for mainstream media and claims they are biased against CHC. Instead, they strongly suggested I only follow our in-house coverage via Citynews for the objective take on the trial.
Truth be told, I followed both mainstream (incl. ST, Today, CNA) and City News. My conclusion is that our in-house coverage is hardly objective at all. My concerns:
i) It has been revealed that building fund was indeed used to support Sun’s career (acknowledged by defence lawyers) and they argue it was authorized use. I even now understand that the EMs voted in favour of investing into Xtron and FIRNA which are proxies. Now, isn’t that an abuse of power? Where is the governance? Many less outspoken members (like me.. till now), gave for the purpose of building a church building. In our minds we visualized a stadium-like structure. That’s what Pst Kong asked us to imagine. Had we known it would have a dual-purpose of supporting Sun, I would have given less or not given at all. The reason is that although I can somehow accept her launching a singing career in Taiwan, but to do so in the US is beyond me.
ii) $46 million in advance rental to Xtron. Who in the right mind does such things? Xtron is not even a listed company and its accounts are not for all to see. What is protecting the interests of the church at large? What if the company goes bust since we have no idea what other activities they are engaged in?
iii) There is a management board to safeguard the interests and assets of the church. If Kong & Co are found guilty, is there new leadership that is prepared to accept the verdict as just and steer the church forward? Or will it be a case where we are always unable to come out of the shadows of Pst Kong’s leadership?
Lastly, I did pray for the accused. But countless nights of prayer meetings, fasting etc will not suddenly make them innocent if they are indeed guilty. We are told not to pre-judge them… I guess not to pre-judge them guilty. What if I ask, have we pre-judged them innocent? I feel disappointed that, as a normal member and not an EM, I only find out things about how the church finances are used in the court of law.” (Source CHC Confessions)
Watcher,
Have you noticed the double standards applied by brain washed CHC members and also in many cult like mega churches in the way they make judgements or evaluation of people. If it involves their celebrity pastors or some evangelists, they say don’t judge. If the case involves political leaders they will rain brickbats and say vote him out in the next election.
Barry – you might find this interview revealing, particularly the comment:
“In the early years, I would have guided him and been something like a mentor to him, and I would still be that now, but only by his initiative, not mine. But I would also treat him as a peer, a colleague, and someone that I would stand with in the faith.”

Perhaps Ps Pringle should change his name to Major Backpedal? I smell “spin doctor”.
There are so many audio clips from both Kong Hee and Phil Pringle claiming fulfillment (or future fulfillment) of so-called “prophetic” words given by Pringle about Sun Tec, about Pringle being his mentor, his go-to guy, wanting his church to copy C3 etc etc. These go back years!
“His initiative, not mine”? You have got to be kidding!
At least twice we have Kong Hee saying “you got me into this mess, you have to get me out”.
Was it a joke? Why repeat the remark? Because Kong Hee puts his faith in Phil Pringle’s false prophecies and allows his greedy prosperity-driven “gospel” mindset to rule his world rather than the living and active Word of God.
At the end of the interview Pringle is asked:
“You would have heard that Sun’s suspension has been lifted and that she is back as our executive director. What are your thoughts on this?
I think Sun is essential to the core, the fabric and the culture of the church, and her input should not be underestimated. Her concepts, her design, her input into the worship, the leadership and the people should not be undervalued in any way at all. I think she’s very key to the future of City Harvest Church.”
“China Wine”, “Kill Bill” – you call this worship?
This has NEVER been addressed by any CHC advisory pastors. If she is the “key”, may the Lord, in His Mercy, take the congregation and hand them over to a worthy shepherd before it’s too late.
Finally, likening his false teaching and that of CHC to a martyred church in the Middle East?
I suggest he takes the Lord’s name in vain to even to claim such a thing, and he certainly doesn’t bring honour to those dying for a real gospel – not with the false prosperity nonsense he teaches.
