How would you feel if your church advertised Easter like this?
No surprises there. I mean it’s c3 – anything to be “relevant”. That includes hosting Halloween parties etc…
Just when I thought that it was not possible for C3 Churches and their leaders to sink any lower than they already had, I saw this! The “genius” who came up with this idea should immediately be taken into the Pastor’s office and given a severe dressing down. But wait a minute…………. the Pastor would have had to have sanctioned it in the first place wouldn’t he? Sickening and offensive in the extreme! A case for dismissal of a Pastor if ever there was one.
I have noticed that C3 Coomera and other C3 churches consistently use the word “relevant”. I think they need a lesson in the meaning of the word. There could be nothing more “irrelevant” than the use of the McDonald’s name and products in a call to worship of Jesus’ followers for the Easter celebrations.
This picture somehow reaches beyond bad taste. If this C3 church believes it has to use slimy advertising tricks to get people into church, they have missed the mark. To know what is acceptable and what is not acceptable for present day Christians, one only ever needs to ask one question prior to our action.
“What would Jesus do?” Had that question been asked before using this image, I would most humbly suggest that the answer would have been ……. “not this”!
The advertisement proclaims a “Modern Day Message”. How exactly did this C3 Church’s “modern day message” differ from the message of 2000 years ago? Perhaps a C3 Coomera member who attended would be kind enough to enlighten me.
The “message” must surely NOT have been “modernised”. Doesn’t Hebrews 13:8 tell us that He is the same “yesterday, today and forever…….”?
I have racked my brains to think of a loving and gentle way I could express my disgust at this “advertising”. Sadly, I have failed my Lord and I cannot. The advertisement and those who sanctioned it leave me lacking in any understanding or tolerance whatsoever for this sort of behaviour.
Jesus and his message(s) do not need to be “modernised”. His words are as “relevant” today as they were 2,000 years ago and I believe that God is “smart” enough to know that whatever HE permitted to become a part of the Bible would not need to be “updated” or to be made “catchy” by arrogant people who, for whatever reason, suddenly believe that they have a better way of doing and saying things than God himself.
This form of advertising is breathtakingly tastleless but if C3 Coomera and associated Churches cannot get people through the doors any other way, then may I humbly suggest that they get off their collective arrogant backsides and get out and deliver the message they now deem to be “irrevelant”, to those who need to hear it so badly.
I am sickened and angry beyond what I have been for some time over the actions of yet another C3 church. To attempt to convey that the subjects in this advertising in any way represent our beloved Jesus and his faithful disciples is just disgraceful.
The “rot” set in long ago with C3 when Christian ideals were thrown out the window in favour of putting backsides on seats in order to access the dollars that those backsides brought into the building. It seems the “rot” is now reaching into every corner of the Church, even bordering on holding Jesus to ridicule. And yes, C3, it does do that even if you happen to think it is “modern”, smart and clever.
An immediate public apology and words of repentance would be appropriate, I would have thought, or is repentance now not “relevant”?
Mr. Pringle, despite your past failures to attend to the difficult matters which come to your attention, you need to attend to this matter immediately. Or will you just get on the phone to this Pastor, mock your critics, and laugh it off as you have done with other matters in the past? It seems the leaders in some branches of C3 are as lacking in sound judgement as you are Mr. Pringle.
And trying to cash in on the popularity of MacDonalds’ for your own ends? Nauseating. I would sincerely hope that any committed Christians who work at McDonalds would raise their voice in objection

They just can’t help themselves can they? That seems to be the ‘gospel’ of C3 and self serving Christian lookalikes…degrade the Holy Bible then make Jesus your lunch-buddy…Not your LORD and SAVIOUR who paid the price for YOU.
I’m surprised they havent put pringle in the picture as an ‘apostle’.

I have to say it doesn’t really surprise me. A generation ago a concept like placing Jesus and his disciples in a McDonalds outlet would only have been thought of by anarchist artist types who thrived on the shock value.
Unfortunately in the age of endless #selfies, ultra-mass marketing and a prevailing culture of entitlement people have lost any sense of respect.
C3 Coomera probably gave themselves a group high-5 for being so “clever” as to photoshop a picture which they think is probably “cool” marketing. But in reality it highlights their immaturity and shows a complete lack of respect for Jesus.
My question to C3 would be; how do you expect someone to go into your church and praise and worship Jesus, if you demean Jesus by illustrating him as just being some dude hanging out at McDonalds with his mates, like a bunch of teenagers? Where is the reverence? Where is the respect?
Quite right, Icarus. Jesus wouldn’t be down with the brothers at McDonald’s. He’d be over the pub with the wine-bibbers, eh, and mixing with the prostitutes and publicans. He’d be hanging out with the sinners.
Your indignance hits the target, mate! Why would Christians gather at maccas? Just because hundreds of Aussies go there every day is no reason to mix with them! Where’s their respect for piety and pomp?

I’m actually wondering if McDonalds lawyers know that their logo and products have been mis-appropriated in this way…could be a nasty lawsuit.
I have no idea of the identity of either of you (“the truth”or Diddums) but this post by “Diddums” was, in my view, quite unnecessary. The post by “the truth” simply reads as a comment – I didn’t glean any “angst” from it, nor did it hint at any “bile and a hunger for revenge”. It also did not, in any way shape or form, suggest a “desire to sue”. It was just a comment, a well-made one, and one which is very valid in today’s society. Christians are no more or less compelled to live by the laws of their society (“Render to Caesar ………”etc!). To “use” (without permission) the work of any other entity in order to gain beneift for oneself is neither Christian or for that matter “wise”. In fact it can be considered in some instances as out-and-out theft. Given the huge lawsuits which have emanated in the past by big companies from what would appear to be “well-meaning” or unthinking behaviour on the part of others, I would have thought that this comment was very much pertinent to the discussion and a valid warning to anyone thinking of doing the same or a similar thing. Such a thoughtless action could well, under certain circumstances, result in a huge pay-out by any Church.
On the other hand “Diddums” your comment about “these guys” (to whomever you were making reference) was not relevant to the discussion and did have a touch of “bile” about it.
I would have thought that it was the “issue” that was important, not personalities who have some sort of personal gripe.

By any chance, are you a current c3 pastor?
The reason I ask is that at the c3 I attended – they would mock people from the pulpit who had been “hurt”. How about when you are separated from your spouse because all they do is live and breathe church? When church is more important than your marriage? Yes, a pastor is more entitled to get up and mock you then! Said no one ever.
I would suggest many on this forum have been hurt, used, spat out of the mouth of c3’s. Yes it happens at many churches – but when there’s the gloss of hype and condescending (refer Phil’s mockery) – it’s salt to the wounds.
Maybe one day if your marriage breaks up because of church, or because as a c3 employee, you want to pursue something else in life and therefore get swiftly shown the door, and they have all the church locks and passwords reset because you must be some kind of criminal – or finally get sick of the push for money, the inwards-looking, and the shallow doctrine – maybe you will end up posting here too – as a sign of caution to others.
Also regarding your comments – refer almost all of Barn Sweetman’s posts – never addressing the real issues of Ashville, but sidestepping and attacking the poster.
OH!! And you must be one of us then!! Phil complains about people hiding behind anonymous names because they are too scared to reveal their identity. This includes you!

Mr. Pringle, besides any problems you may have emanating from your own character flaws, you have GIANT problems with some other leaders in C3 Church.
“In the presence of greatness” Mr. Robertson? (I can not bring myself to address you as “Pastor”.) May I humbly suggest you need to re-evaluate your ideals and SOON. You consider yourself in the “presence of greatness” when photographed with Creflo Dollar? I think your immaturity as a Christian, not to mention an adult male, should be of grave concern to your Church members.

Not surprising then that Robertson would be a leader in a church that thinks that cashing in on the corporate success of McDonalds is acceptable.
I don’t know ‘diddums’ but ‘n0c0mment ‘….I can assure you…that when Jesus Christ your LORD returns with a sword to judge the living and the dead…HE will not be sitting with a “coke and a bucket of chips talking about the cross”. This ‘culture’ that seeks to make Jesus Christ a ‘mate’ or ‘buddy’ absolutely rejects the Divinity of Christ. Sad. I would expect these ‘parodies’ of Christ to come from non-Christians, not those who profess to follow and worship Him.

You got an endorsement for your blog by your biggest fan Phil Pringle. We’d at least think that you would “shape up” as his favoured critic and not continue biting and thwomping people as the snakey troll that you continue to be. The more we research your behaviour online, the more creepy you seem to be. You continually hurt people and you appear to have a track record of hurting people. You also have gone through hundreds of alias’ on various different blogs.
This does not make your master look good.
You are not welcome on C3&HS CW. Nor would you last long at a C3 church if you behaved the way you do online. In fact you would probably be blacklisted.

When he had the name Gordy, I thought it was Dr Gordon Moore. Wonder if it is? Not too bad of a bloke himself actually. So much I would like to ask about the running of that church you know! The nepotism just interests me, that’s all. A few interesting choices in who gets to plant a church. But hey, didn’t James Packer take over his father’s empire? And the Murdoch’s? Just another seeker friendly marketing method to sell their watered down friendly gospel in a way that appears relevant but non threatening to the youth culture of the world. Very much in the same line of thinking as CHC’s sexy ‘cross over’ marketing strategy to ‘reach’ the ‘lost’ . A case of this little pig (church) that went to market .

Thank you for educating me concerning the McDonalds advertising but I still don’t know what the hell you’re talking about – most probably due to my low or perhaps non-existant I.Q. – that must be it.
While you’re judging different members of the Body of Christ – who’s judging you? No thanks, that’s not my job, I’m just a simple bible believing christian who loves God & to the best of my abilities tries to follow His precepts & show compassion to those who are less fortunate than I; it would most probably do my head in if i was to ever go that route. I didn’t know that we needed policeman to watch over the Body of Christ? I suppose you learn something new every day.
Where was I? thats right Pastor( aaaahhh! I did it again! Wow! that was lucky – no singed clothing) Kerry Robertson; cool dude, short in stature but big in heart, loves God e-n-o-r-m-o-u-s-l-y & His people, h-u-g-e desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ – hence christian, a-m-a-z-i-n-g creativity (& apparently is tight with McDonalds – wonder if he can get me some free food? sorry….digressing a bit) loves his wife big-time who happens to be a pastor too(thought I would use little letters & thereby miss the Wrath of Khan….oooops sorry….I mean the wrath of God) & their beeeoootiful daughters….man! us members of his church are in big dodoos! He is really leading us astray – yeah! he really does need to re-evaluate his ideals I am really gravely concerned for my welfare & those of my fellow parishoners.
Some people need to get a life!!!

I am an ex-c3 member. I have seen the ‘relevancy’ – Halloween parties (to explain to kids about the spiritual realm), various Christmas musicals about the Grinch, all other things. Oh yes they are highly produced items and quite funny. So therefore I can understand the McSupper thing. What I’m curious to know, if you would answer me without sarcasm (as I also ask without it) – what was preached? Was it a funny presentation (probably well-presented), with just a dab of Jesus on the end, or did it preach about the human sinful nature, our need for forgiveness, and Jesus’ death and resurrection?
As for your Pastors, yes I know plenty of great c3 Pastors and I’m sure they are too; and to be honest I don’t usually see a problem with who they are personally; it’s what they DO, PREACH, how they MANAGE their church, their DOCTRINE that I most often get up about. And although I’m not even attempting to be a “recruit”, “constable”, or “volunteer” (to use your Police analogy) – we need to watch over what happens in the Body. Who is preaching false doctrine? Whose fruit is proving them to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing? As Jesus said in Matthew 7:15,16 – “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves, By their fruit you will recognise them..”
I admit sometimes things may go a bit extreme in comments here. But be assured many, including me, are concerned about what is happening in God’s Name, in His Church; to be studying the Scriptures like the Berean church to see what is currently being preached is actually true. As I said, I’m ex-c3 and I guarantee you a lot of what I was preached (and no doubt you here) is not truly Scriptural. But those are for other times.
There are plenty of level-minded people on here so without starting at maximum volume, please understand (some of) our genuine concern for what is happening in c3, and in the “contemporary” church.

A very unbecoming post, Jasmine for a young Christian lady. Writing in such a fashion does nothing to give your comments any credibility.
But in answer to your question about the fact that you “didn’t know we needed policeman to watch over the Body of Christ”…………….. the Bible instructs us to test all things…………….. it constantly warns us to be alert and to make sure we are on the right path. Being a “policeman” has nothng to do with it…………….
(The Bible also tells us to “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s ………….. attempting to profit from someone else’s advertising is not exactly doing that is it?)
May I suggest to you since you sound “young” that the most ungracious manner in which you make your comment is not by any means a good endorsement for your Pastor, your church or for what you are learning there about the manner in which a Chrstian woman should behave. I would hope your Pastor admonishes you for this
very un-dignifed response.
And I don’t believe I saw any post on this site questioning your Pastor’s love for his wife or his family. Not an edifying post, Jasmine, and I would most respectfully suggest, not a good example to those women in the Church who may be younger than yourself and looking to you for example.
