Kong Hee invited his wife Sun Hee up to the stage at Presence Conference 2012. He introduced themselves as “China Boy and Chine Wine”.

Sun Hee said in front of everyone ‘I know that I represent City Harvest Church.‘ However, Kong Hee alluded to his celebrity wife’s controversial, worldly music video ‘China Wine’.

(Warning: content of video may be considered highly inappropriate for Christian viewers.)

As you could probably guess, pastors criticised Kong & Sun Hee for this. The below article is worth reading to see how Kong Hee justifies his wife performing the song ‘China Wine’. While reading this article please consider the following questions. Does he have double standards?

Has he changed his standards? Don’t forget that Kong Hee highly regards his wife and says that, “Sun is my wisdom“. (Accessed 19/04/2012)

Which type of wisdom? Godly wisdom or worldly wisdom? James 1:5-8 comes to mind:

“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” – James 1:5-8

By promoting himself and his wife as “China Boy and Chine Wine”, what is he saying about Presence Conference 2012? Does Kong Hee rightly handle the scriptures?

How should Hee approach the scriptures John 15:19, 1 John 4:5, 1 John 2:15, John 17:14, James 4:4, 1 John 2:16?

Does he owe an apology to the way he responded to pastors in this article?

Consider this as you read this article. (Emphasis mine in underline.)

Wholesome Shallowness?

In 2007, my wife Sun released a music video of the hit single, “China Wine,” the result of a creative collaboration with reggae wunderkind, Wyclef Jean. That video garnered a lot of attention on YouTube with more than two million hits over two dozen fan sites. It received rave reviews from industry insiders as well as youths who love dance pop the world over. Not surprisingly, the video also raised quite a few eyebrows within the religious fraternity who felt it was inappropriate for a Christian to be featured in a dance video.

Although Sun is married to me, she herself was never formally ordained as a minister. She never felt gifted with a pulpit ministry. But ever since Sun was a child, she had participated in many singing contests and won quite a few of them. As a preacher’s wife, Sun functioned faithfully from behind-the-scenes as my helpmate, becoming an effective counselor and a singer in the church.

At the turn of the millennium, as I began formulating my doctrine on the Cultural Mandate, challenging my generation to come out of isolation and engage the marketplace, I urged Sun to help me embody that message. In 2002, she launched her new career in Taiwan as a pop singer. Since then, she has done very well with more than four million units sold, five multi-platinum records, and over 30 number one songs in five different countries. Today, she is known in the Far East as a bona fide singer, entertainer and humanitarian.

From her royalties, Sun has built eight schools, two orphanages, two medical centers, one rehabilitation clinic, and two housing projects. Through her connections, she has helped with the establishing and fund-raising of four other orphanages, two hospitals, two community services, and one charity foundation. For all these humanitarian achievements, Sun was awarded the Top Outstanding Young Person of the World in 2003, and became China’s Charity Ambassador of Children since 2004. In 2007, she sang the theme song for the Special Olympics at Shanghai. Last year, she sang the 2008 Olympic Anthem during the pre-game launch at Beijing. The unchurched throughout Asia loves Sun and views her as an exemplary model to the youths of society.

Yet, in spite of all her secular and creative achievements, many conservative pastors find it hard to accept Sun in any role outside of church ministry. But the reality is that she is no longer a church staff or a gospel singer. She doesn’t work for any religious organization.

As a professional artist, Sun has to take on many dramatic stage personas. This is what entertainers do. In the “China Wine” video, she happens to be acting in one such role. Fiction must be separated from fact. I think the struggle many pastors have is the difficulty to separate her association with me (as a pastor’ wife) and her career as a singer. I agree that if she is a “pastor” or “preacher,” perhaps the video would have been inappropriate. But Sun is not a pastor. She is an entertainer. All her music videos were not produced by the church but by her secular music label, the company that she is working for.

“China Wine” is a music video about a girl who has to take up an extra job at a nightclub to make ends meet for her family. Some pastors immediately took offense at the club scene and sexy dancers around her. As for her costumes, she wore gym clothes which was not inappropriate for the set she had to act in. At the end of the music video, she caught her boyfriend cheating on her in the night club and confronted him in Mandarin. If you understand what she said, her words were neither crude nor profane at all. She basically shouted at the guy, “Hey, what are you doing with this mistress?” Unfortunately, the video translator subtitled that as “Hey, what are you doing with this b****?” That final b-word caused a further uproar among pastors, who were quick to condemn her for uttering profanities. A few of them wrote me angry emails calling Sun a “whore,” “hooker,” and other nastier, derogatory terms. Some said she was promoting free sex and immorality. But any intelligent, objective viewer would know that the whole drama is not about sex; if anything, it portrays the reality of a fallen secular world.

All these storms in a tea cup set me thinking of a bigger question: Are Christians living a sanitized life? Why have “Christian” productions been so ineffective in their reach to the unchurched, to the extent that even believers are not interested in their products?

In his book, Eyes Wide Open: Looking For God in Popular Culture, author William D. Romanowski talks about a 1993 survey, which reported that over 80 percent of all churchgoing Christians regularly go to the movies. When they were asked what they thought about Christian films, TV productions and Christian Contemporary Music, this was what they said:

1. Christian popular arts are inferior imitations as compared to mainstream culture. To many, Christian music is substandard guitar pop and happy-clappy lyrics about Jesus. This is not surprising as many Christian artists feel that their main job is to preach the gospel and proclaim the faith. As such, artistic quality or creativity is not so important. But what they forget is that when people go to a movie or buy an album, their first desire is to be entertained. If they want to be preached to, they would have gone to church.

2. Christian popular arts are unrealistic, sanitized versions of the real world. Some reviewers even use the phrase “wholesome shallowness” to describe them. Christian entertainment has come to mean movies and music appropriate for “family-only” audiences. That basically means kids-oriented programs or old-time TV reruns for senior citizens. Are Christians that naive and immature, living in a perpetual time warp of a bygone era, that we can’t handle the realities of the 21st century?

As early as 1916, Hollywood had already discovered that 60 percent of theater owners wanted pictures that portray the real world—even if they contained themes on violence, sex and greed. This is because moviegoers want films that honestly and artistically address the issues of life.

3. Christian popular arts are limited in content and purpose. If you listen to most CCM, you would think that all Christians do is worship and evangelize 24 hours a day, seven days a week. But people in general, Christians and non-Christians alike, don’t want to be preached to 24/7. They want a pop culture that is fun, entertaining, artistic and innovative. They are also concerned with the issues of life—and they enjoy it when those themes are addressed with artistic flair.

Everybody knows the trials and temptations of daily living. We are not immune to problems and tensions. We are all concerned about love and relationship, life and health, career and finances, the global economy and politics, war and peace, and our future. We are all trying to understand why things happen the way they do and how we can live our lives properly. Pop culture helps us to navigate through all that.

People get inspired and moved by U2, the biggest band in the world today. Their music captures a sense of religious longing and the struggle of living in a world torn by war, injustice and poverty. They enjoy movies like The Matrix, which speaks of an invisible world behind our natural world. They are moved by Schindler’s List (rated R) which touches on courage, sacrifice, and overcoming racism. CHC member, Jack Neo, is arguably the best movie director in Southeast Asia. His films, I Not Stupid I and I Not Stupid II, were box office hits because they realistically deal with the pressures of the rat-race in Asian societies.

Listeners and viewers cry buckets over these powerful songs and films. They may be secular, but people get touched by such productions more so than most Christian ones. If Christian pop culture is artistically inferior, unrealistically sanitized, and limited in content and purpose, is there any surprise that surveys regularly show that even churchgoers are not excited about them? No wonder Christian artists have such a difficult time selling their products beyond small book tables in churches.

The beautiful truth is that God is not against pop culture. There is a section of the Old Testament known as “The Writings,” covering books like Psalms, Job, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Ecclesiastes and Lamentations. Honestly, aren’t they the popular songs, dramas and musicals of biblical times?

  • Psalms are songs of frustration, regret and anger, yet sung with love to a sometimes hidden God. Aren’t they like most tracks on the Billboard Chart?
  • Job deals with the sufferings of life, and the desire to find meaning through them. Isn’t it like the Hollywood hit movie, Forest Gump, or the long-running Korean serial drama, Jewel In The Place?
  • Proverbs deal with the danger of shortcuts, the snares of temptation, and the rewards of honesty. Aren’t they just like the cartoon series, The Simpsons?
  • The Song of Solomon is about the obsession with love and the sensual. Just turn on any pop radio and we have our modern-day Song of Solomon being broadcasted 24/7.
  • Ecclesiastes deal with the weariness of daily living in an imperfect world. Isn’t that portrayed in movies like Signs and The Pianist?
  • Lamentations deal with grief. When one listens to most of Eric Clapton’s songs, aren’t they all about the dealing with grief?

Like the Old Testament writings themselves, pop culture is the collective wisdom of our generation. Popular arts explore social injustice, songs of sorrow, and even tributes to women. Like the Book of Esther, they may not even mention the name of God. Like Ecclesiastes, they suggest that in this life, bad things do happen to good people. Or like the Song of Solomon, they may celebrate romance and sex. These songs and movies may not have a salvational purpose, but nonetheless, they offer us the essential comfort and wisdom for living. As such, pop culture represents a powerful means of communicating to us what the real world is like, and how to live in it.

We are all products of our personal theological persuasions and convictions. Pop culture affects the lifestyles of the masses. Venturing into the realm of secular culture is certainly not for the weak or the fainthearted. What Sun is seeking to do is to show us how to be a modern-day Daniel or Joseph to our contemporary Babylon and Egypt. Daniel took on Babylon’s language, education, fashion, name and persona, and yet he didn’t compromise his own value system. According to the New Bible Commentary, Joseph was thoroughly “Egyptianized,” and yet he lived a great life of purpose. Esther, the super celebrity, was also similar. Sun simply wants to emulate these heroes of faith.

Can you remember John the Baptist questioning the authenticity of Jesus’ ministry when he heard about the latter’s working style? Jesus had become widely known as a friend of sinners, tax collectors, prostitutes and drunkards. He was even seen going to parties and events that the Pharisees themselves wouldn’t set foot in. John the Baptist was concerned that Jesus was becoming worldly, immoral and compromising—a bad example to the disciples. Our Lord’s reply to him was simply this: “Look at My fruits. Look at how the gospel is preached. ‘And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me’” (Matt. 11:6). The Greek word for “offended” is scandalizo, which means “to trip up, stumble, or be enticed to sin.” I would say the same to those religious critics who may be offended by Sun.

The “China Wine” music video was never meant for a church event. Neither was it ever intended to be an evangelism tool or a gospel video. It is simply pop entertainment. People watching the video and regarding it as just that will never get offended or stumbled, which explains the millions of hits and thousands of good reviews on YouTube.

So to the religious and conservatives who have used nasty, derogatory and expletive terms to describe Sun, my parting shot are the words of Jesus Christ from Matthew 21:31, “I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.”

Quick observation. If Sun is Kong Hee’s wisdom, why was his ‘parting shot’ (aimed at ‘religious and conservatives’) any better? If pastors were using ‘derogatory and expletive terms to describe Sun’, then why does Kong Hee refer to his own wife as a ‘prostitute’, ‘entering the kingdom of God’ ahead of them?

Is Sun Hee actually Kong Hee’s worldly wisdom? How is Kong Hee obeying God’s word by flaunting his ‘China Wine’ wife at Presence Conference 2012? Isn’t that promoting Christian men to stumble in worldly sin? As John writes,

“Do not love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” – 1 John 2:15-17 (KJV)

Let the preacher do the talking. We were gob-smacked.

Didn’t people realise Pringle was talking about THEM in his meetings in services like they were in? It was THEM that triggered him to talk about how to manipulate people. (Emphasis mine.)

“You know every meeting I’ve been in, THIS PRESENCE. Like, you guys are at a whole new level. There’s no doubt about it. When we’re looking for extra seats in the night meetings. . . And everybody’s like hair-triggered excited. You go to another level of thirst. Suddenly, THE THIRST OF THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU GETS TO YOU. Now I want to tell you something…” – Phil Pringle, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21UnCWm7eO0&feature=player_detailpage#t=9s, 13/04/2012.

This article will provide an overview of the C3 Presence 2012 open night. We wish to point out that Chris Rosebrough from ‘Fighting For the Faith’ (Pirate Christian Radio) has started his critique of the Presence Conference 2012.

On Open Night, C3 opened up with worship. At EXACTLY ten minutes in, a silent passion narrative took place. Red cloth rolled out from Jesus’ hands out to the far reaches of the Sydney Convention Center to represent Jesus’ blood covering people. This was all done close to two minutes.

A silent portrayal of the crucifixion 10mins in.

The lights dropped and the screen read,

… the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Matthew 12:39-40

What followed was an ambiguous special effects narrative showing light, smoke and darkness. A key drops. A sphere of light covers part of planet earth. The sphere of light shoots up like a fire work and explodes the word ‘VICTORY’. This was all done close to two minutes. The precise timing of these events is important.

This was followed with more worship. But what did that cross story mean? Christians and non-Christians clearly saw Christ portrayed crucified. Would this be explained?

After worship, Kong Hee was introduced to… preach an offering message. C3 thought a GIVING sermon was the next most important thing to schedule after this ambiguous passion narrative.

Kong Hee is the pastor of City Harvest Church, Singapore. Chris Rosebough from ‘Fighting For the Faith’ reviewed this giving sermon here at 38 minutes into his program:

April 14, 2012

Kong Hee’s Fleecing of the Masses

Dowload

• Email
• Presence Conference 2012: Kong Hee’s Fleecing of the Masses
• 3 More Great Easter Sermons by George Borghardt, Brent Kuhlman and Jeff Ware

Chris Rosebrough was not impressed by how brazen Kong Hee was in his false teaching. Chris Rosebrough commented before Kong Hee gave this talk,

“Here is Kong Hee from the first night of Presence Conference out there in Sydney Australia. That this guy can talk like this without hanging his head in utter shame is beyond me.” (39:28)

It should be worth noting that the way Presence 2012 treated Jesus at the start. Kong Hee’s money sermon seemed to completely disregard the passion narrative of it’s significance as he talked about his life and how God wants to bless us when we give sacrificially. Why didn’t he explain the importance of Jesus’ sacrifice? Isn’t that the whole point of a Christianity? To preach Christ and Him crucified? (1 Cor 1:23)

Ten minutes in at the C3 Presence conference, Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. Kong Hee came in and taught Christians that by observing the Law (tithe and firstfruits) and by our sacrificial giving we can attain our desires by human effort, God being the means.

Why did Kong Hee teach Christians that they could get miracles if they observed the Law and ‘principles’ of giving? We need to heed this exact warning from God:

“You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Have you suffered so much for nothing—if it really was for nothing? Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?” – Galatians 3:1-5

While Kong Hee was teaching on the types of giving, Chris Rosebrough slammed Kong Hee’s teaching.

“I cannot believe I am looking at the video on this and people are sitting rather than standing up and walking out in protest. Unbelievable! Do they not know they are being fleeced [swindled great deals of money]?” (43:53)

“Notice! Everything is a quid pro-quo. You’re BUYING from God. This is a multiplication scam. A ponzy scheme blamed on God.” (46:18)

To summarise the four types of giving Kong Hee taught, Rosebrough reports:

“See if you give money to them [C3 Church], God’s going to be moved and he’s going to “explode prsoperity” into your life. This is not what the bible teaches. This is shameful.”(47:40)

Kong Hee then read out 2 Corinthians 9:6-8. Rosebrough teaches how this biblical passage condemned Kong Hee’s entire giving message:

“It’s funny. Do those words mean anything to you Kong, as you’re reading them? “Don’t give under compulsion.” You’re basically saying people have to give under compulsion. You’re turning God into a Mafia-don.

“We’ll if you don’t give the tithe- well then the destroyer gonna come and destroy you. Yeah you gotta give. Yeah! You gotta give! Give! Give! Give! Give! Oh and then you plant the seed and God will, y’know, explode prosperity.” This isn’t what the bible teaches at all. This turns God into a slot machine or a genie.” (48:12)

Rosebrough continues his criticism while Kong Hee started suggesting people empty their bank accounts.

“Now this is where he plants the seed of you giving a lot of money in your brain. And you sit there and go, “Oh. Maybe God the Holy Spirit’s telling me to give a big seed too?” By the way, the bible doesn’t teach this the way he’s teaching it. . . So he said that he wants somebody there to give everything they’ve got; give it all to them. They’ll take it. “Thanks! Oh thank you! Thank you for giving everything!” They’ll be happy to take it. . .  So this is to plant the seed in their minds that someone there- God’s telling them to give everything. . . Don’t you want to be like Kong hee? Don’t you want to give everything? Maybe God will speak to you the same way He spoke to Kong, right?” (52:45, 53:18, 53:50)

Seeing right through it all, Rosebrough repeats,

“This is a ponzy scheme! This is one of those pyramid schemes, you know. And who’s at the top of the pyramid? Oh Kong Hee, Phil Pringle, Steven Furtick- yeah those guys! They’re at the top of the pyramid. “Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Just give us everything you’ve got! Don’t worry! God knows you need money. And so he’ll put dreams in the heart of other people so they’ll supply your needs.

Why would I need to give everything I have to a church like C3 in Australia where Phil Pringle mangles and twists God’s Word, doesn’t rightly handle the Word? He’s a- I think it can be demonstrated as a false prophet. Why on earth would God want me to give everything to them? Hmm? This is ridiculous. This is not a Christian or biblical teaching regarding giving at all. This is people making merchandise and teaching for shameful gain things they ought not to teach, (using King James language). This is preaching for filthy lucre.” (55:09)

The pirate said of the peddler,

“Yeah, because he [Kong] planted a seed! So you got to plant a seed if you’re in financial trouble! You gotta plant a seed too! And that’s on TOP of your tithe, your firstfruits, and your alms giving. . . Yeah! Tell them a story and they’ll start writing big checks! Isn’t that how it goes?” (56:36, 56:57)

Kong Hee then swayed people emotionally and not with reason. He said,

“Since then, God has taken us from glory to glory. But EVERYTHING, all the blessing, if you asked me, can be traced back to the one night, in a service like this when I didn’t have anything and I have a mountain of debt, newly married, with not much hope and future. I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. But a simple act of obedience, trusting God by faith and giving my best seed- I got a feeling tongiht pastor phil. I havea feeling tonight that some of you here, who may be in my situation twenty years ago. Maybe you’re newly wed. Maybe you’re stuck with a situation of financial debt. Maybe you have visions and dreams but you’re in so much darkness, you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. ” (57:34)

To which Rosebrough quickly retorted with,

“Don;t worry! We’ll be happy to take everything you got! That’ll clear you right up. . . He’ll supply all your need as long as you give him a LOT of money! . . . Yeah! See you’re buying those blessings.” (01:01:25, 1:01:45, 01:01:53)

Kong Hee then starts brazenly asking people for money, operating in double talk (as Chris Rosebrough pointed out).

“I tell you what. Now I don’t normally do this but I sense faith in this room tonight. And I don’t like to talk about numbers. I don’t like to talk about figures. But maybe tonight, some of you need to give a big seed. A big one.

Maybe some of you need to give a hundred dollars. Maybe some of you need to give five hundred dollars. Maybe some of you need to give a thousand. Maybe, for you, a seed, a huge one, could be two thousand dollars. Maybe some of you, (that could be just one or two couples), that God has something great in store, and maybe tonight the Holy Spirit, already has been speaking to your heart to empty everything you’ve got. In my life, I’ve done it twice. I can tell you – God is not going to short-change you.” (01:01:56)

It’s important to note that when he gave everything to God Kong Hee claimed , “I was never poor again” (56:33). So why does he say that he was currently facing a financial crunch? (01:08:22, 01:01:30) Did Kong Hee lie to his multi-denominational and international audience of thousands?

—–

After the giving sermon, Pringle gives a sermon called ‘Connect’. Pringle’s ‘Connect’ sermon is completely void of the gospel. He spends a large portion of his sermon advertising his church, parading how a part of his movement grew. Many were called up to the stage. When everyone was up on stage Prngle shouted (almost frustratingly),

“Don’t you dare be thinking I can’t grow a church! This is how you grow a church! One person touching another! Connecting! Getting on the same page!” – Phil Pringle, Presence Conference 2012, Open Night.

Part from the fact that Jesus said, “I will build build my church” (Matt 16:18) and that the Lord adds daily people to His church (Acts 2:47), it is wrong to say that you grow a church through “connecting”. While connecting with people is important, what grows the church is the faithful preaching of the Gospel (Christ and Him crucified) and making disciples under the teachings of God. Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ (Romans 10:17), not by “one person touching another”. Pringle could not have been any more wayward with his outburst.

The truth of the gospel and God’s word is what brings the power of salvation, which builds the church through the Spirit of God. Sadly, Pringle at the end of his sermon does an altar call. He does not give the gospel. This is an example of men “holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power” (2 Tim 3:5). All viewing online were able to see Pringle building his ‘church’ his way, not God’s way.

Rosebrough does not examine Pringle’s ‘Connect’ sermon but he does examine Phil Pringle’s Warragambah dam prophecy (1:09:34). This is also worth listening to. More will be written on this later.

C3 Exalts Pringle As Prophet With False Warragamba Dam Prophecy

In closing, Christ was portrayed as crucified at the beginning of the Presence Conference, but swept aside for a show without any explanation what his death and resurrection meant to sinners mean. And remember, this was all orchestrated and perfectly timed. Two minutes for Jesus crucified, two minutes for his resurrection, that’s it. The preachers preached themselves and Mark Kelsey presented the glory of their prophet Phil Pringle for six minutes with Pringle’s prophecy. This is a tragic way to begin a conference and is telling of what was to come. Christianity is about Christ and Christ crucified, not Pringle and Pringle glorified.

Rosebrough protests Pringle’s glorification:

“That’s just to get this into the public arena so the folks who are in Sydney Australia can warn their friends, warn their family members, warn people that they know, co-workers, to let them know that there is a false prophet on the loose who’s real goal is to get into their wallets, to get into their bank accounts, to get – you know – checks and debits off of their credit cards to huge dollar amounts. Cos that’s really what all this is about. Somebody who would promote this guy [Phil Pringle] as a prophet of God? You understand the implications that is? To question him, to challenge him is to actually question and challenge God. Because isn’t that whom he is supposedly and visibly respresentive here on earth of? No. He’s not. He’s not a prophet of God.

He’s a false prophet, a false teacher and a fleecer. This is a show. This is a show designed to get huge, huge bucks. Large sums of money. And to get foolish, unstable, unwise, unlearned people to fork over lots of money. And at the end of it, you know what happens to folks like that? The promised miracle never comes. When that happens, they lose even what little faith they may have. But it’s questionable as to whether or not the faith that they had was actually saving faith in the crucified and risen saviour.” (01:19:47)

Finally, we encourage readers to listen to the preachers at the end of Chris Rosebrough’s podcast and compare how the good preachers Rosebrough reviews,  handle God’s Word unlike Kong Hee. You wont be disappointed.

Where is the Gospel?
Janine is a pastor of C3 Church, and claims to preach the healing gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the story of my attempt to seek it out and share it with Janine and fellow pastors of the C3 church.

Personal Introduction – Dear Believer, I do this out of love of God and love for you.

I would like to start with a scripture that truly defines my motive and agenda for critiquing sermons and comparing them to the scriptures. It reveals my desire to really seek out if men, who claim to be leading people to God, really are teaching about the God of the Bible. So this editorial is for those who claim to be believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. My desire is also, that you would be discerning, able to distinguish between right and wrong, lie and truth, God and man.

“… This I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” – Philippians 1:9-11

If Paul is an example to us, who says that we should follow him as much as he follows Christ, this is my challenge to you; In the same manner that Paul commends those who tests what he says with scripture (Acts 17:11), I commend you – test what Janine is teaching and make sure it lines up with the bible. I will add a link to the complete sermon and a transcript that I have personally typed out whilst listening to the sermon. If salvation belongs to our God and you have been saved through His son – then admonish all that stands against God, Jesus. We owe Him this much, to remain pure in His Word.

“…Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and allslander, like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.” – 1 Peter 2:1-3

“A Fresh Start” – A sermon by Janine Kubala; 8th January, 2012

This editorial was inspired by a recent visit to the Christian City Church located in Oxford Falls, Sydney. I once again encourage you to check everything that you read throughout the duration of this article. Janine Kubala’s full sermon is available on the Christian City Church website: http://www2.myc3church.net/videos/ps-janine-kubala-fresh-start. I will later place an attached  link to the transcript of the sermon when I can. (I personally just find a sermon easier to process when I can read along while listening to it.)

My Experience with the Pastors – An attempt at learning the Gospel at C3.

Towards the end of the sermon, Janine starts calling people down to the front. What sounds like the gospel, is actually a call to a ‘better life’. Don’t believe me? When you listen to the sermon, try and answer why Janine only shares the gospel as the last resort when everyone has come down to the front. Where was the teaching on sin?

Feel-good speech, followed by a declaration by Kubala that, these people are now saved because they decided to come to the front and answer God’s calling for a “Fresh Start”. Something didn’t sit well with me. I watched people, crying and weeping as they ran to the front to ‘receive Jesus’ and, something just didn’t sit right. I wanted to join this group of people who were told to just “give their lives” to the Lord.

I tell you the truth, my main concern was what these people had now just been saved into. They had been told that they were ‘amazing’ and people cheered and clapped as they headed down to the ‘altar’ for Janine to pray over them. Not only did this show an amazing contradiction to biblical preaching of the gospel and salvation – so too did the lack of biblical definitions. Where was the explanation of sin? condemnation? The fallen nature? What about the work of the Spirit in our salvation?

I approached Janine and her husband, feeling awkward as a I caught a glimpse of the “reserved for pastor’s” cards that were placed on the lined of the best seats at the front of the church. I didn’t manage to follow where the group of ‘born-again Christians’ had disappeared to, so I asked Janine and her group, “I am sorry to interrupt you guys, but I wanted to know where the group at the front had gone too?”

I received a smile from Janine and her husband. A lady to the left of me said,
“Oh, they went up there…” and pointed up towards the back of the large auditorium. I honestly couldn’t see through the crowds, so I double-checked and we pointed and re-pointed until I finally decided I might wing it. I got some nods and headed off. I finally saw a group of what was mostly teenagers and young adults with clip boards. Some were crying while people with VIP cards around their necks (prayer warriors?), were laying hands on them.

Still, I was not able to just walk away. I didn’t think it was fair to leave this church and base my feelings as fact. I wanted to talk to someone. As I decided this, someone came up to me and asked; “Hi, do you need some help?”

I was still feeling very overwhelmed by everything, so I said, “No, thank you. I just want to be on my own for a small while.” It is hard to explain, you had to be there. But I continued questioning the crying, falling to knees, the clipboards, the prayers and assurances for these people when I had just heard a sermon that preached nothing of the biblical gospel.

I walked up to the lady, “Can I speak with you now, is that OK?” I said.  “Sure, she said.” She was holding a clipboard. I then noticed that it was a membership to the church. Now I was annoyed. I thought people were here with bibles, trying to start discipling these young ones. They were handing out bibles too which was great.

I asked the elder if she could explain where the gospel was in the sermon as I was confused. She asked me what church I went too and I told her I haven’t been going there recently, which was true at the time. She asked why I was there and I told her to check it out, which was also true. She then said that Janine shared it. I told her that I didn’t hear it, can she explain it. She told me if I acknowledge my sin and accept God into my heart I will be saved. She quoted a scripture, which was great too.

But when I said, “Yes, I know… I am a Christian already. I am asking you because I am confused about what has happened here. How do these people have an assurance that they are saved now. Like, how do we know that we know?” Finally, she said something along the lines of, “when you’ve accepted Jesus”. I asked her how we know that we have accepted the right Jesus, she said I should ask my church these questions. That was all I needed to hear and left.

I wasn’t trying to be tricky but the answers to the questions I gave were simple. Jesus said it Himself, if we would even receive the message like a child, we would see the kingdom of God. It is so simple, even a child can understand it. Why was it so hard to explain?

I still felt like I had somehow misunderstood what had happened? Why wasn’t the gospel clearly given? Why were the importance of clipboard memberships put above reading the bible and talking about what had just taken place with these young ones? I remember very clearly, while I was sitting there observing and listening, that I overheard someone saying that they hate feeling bad about themselves and an elder comforting them with a “There, there… you’re OK now. God loves you.” I seriously never remember Jesus taking this attitude to sin.

The Aftermath – Trying to catch up with Janine about her sermon… and that Gospel again!

After that I decided, I would go straight to the speaking pastor. I added Janine to my Facebook account and started messaging her on her public wall. I first asked her for her personal testimony as to how she came to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. This was sent on 13th January, 2012. There was no reply.

Considering Janine’s busy schedule, I attempted to make contact again. This time, I extended my concern to the fact that I did not hear the gospel in her sermon and am confused about this and would love to hear back from her concerning this. This was sent on the 2nd February, 2012.

After trying to make contact twice, each time really trying to give a chance for Janine to share what she thinks the gospel is because of what I had heard during the sermon that Sunday, I thought I should try and maybe contact her through the Facebook inbox. This was on the 2nd February, 2012 (evening)

Nothing. I thought at this point, that perhaps I should ask how she deals with donations, if someone was interested. I have been careful not to be deceiving, and so I asked in a way that I made it clear that I was asking in the 3rd person. What would someone do if they were interested in donating? I wrote this on Janine’s wall. I got a response that day. She directed me to a person on the C3 team that I could get into contact with.  This was sent on the 22nd February, 2012.

I emailed that person expressing my concern about the gospel and what C3’s idea of the gospel was. There was no reply from her. This was just getting more and more concerning with each attempt. At the end of the recent screen grab you will see that I asked if someone could share about the gospel before I even consider a donation. This conversation continued in my inbox. I may disclose what happened in this discussion in another article.

I have sent Janine this article in one last attempt to reconcile this confusion. Why was I sent to my nearest C3 church to get my answer? Isn’t the gospel just a simple answer? Give me a scripture. Janine, I want people to know about this because it is very concerning for someone who call themselves a pastor to answer me concerning donations and not concerning the gospel of Jesus Christ that saves. I hate to think the worse but please share your thoughts on this. Let us come to a place of truth and reconciliation.

NOTE: This article was completed on 16thApril, 2012 and sent to Janine Kubala on that same date. This is so Janina Kubala can be made aware of it’s existence and have opportunity to reconcile it.

This is their website: http://www.tcalw.org/

You can see that this is the correct institute from google maps because they have photos of the construction site of their new buildings on both google maps and their website. But after browsing endlessly on their church and the TCA website, there is no mention of New Covenant University, New Covenant International University or Kevin Dyson.

But this site may offer some information:http://www.statemaster.com/encyclopedia/Name-It-and-Frame-It%3F

Name It and Frame It? is a 1993 book by Steve Levicoff about Christian schools. He explores the accreditation process, good and bad institutions of higher learning. This work has four different editions, which contain updated information and responses from various groups. In the preface of the third edition Levicoff wrote about the book, “administrators at legitimately accredited Christian schools loved it, but the operators of degree mills weren’t too pleased.”

There are some very impressive ministry college names in the list in his book. The one that caught my eye was, ‘New Covenant International Theological Seminary‘, which is supposedly located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Thank you Steve Levicoff!

Just to be sure this was the institute, I checked out the New Covenant International Theological Seminary:http://www.newcovenant.edu/index.php?page=home.

Read the ‘About Us’ here (Emphasis mine):http://www.newcovenant.edu/index.php?page=about-us2&PHPSESSID=e001e896d3b1d9ca604838def87de407.

HISTORY & BIBLICAL FOCUS

NCI was founded in Auckland, New Zealand in 1978 as a logical outgrowth of the recognition that all members of the local church body need appropriate forms and levels of training and equipping to be able to effectively do the work of serving those around them, as well as those in other nations.

In 1990 NCIU was incorporated in the United States as an independent, self-governing corporation where it remains to this day. NCI was established in relationship with the apostolic oversight of a local assembly of Christian believers at Lake Worth, Florida, as well as other ministry leaders from a broad spectrum. NCIU is a “user focused” institution that exists to serve the needs of the end-users, not simply to perpetuate knowledge for the sake of knowledge. Our chief end is to glorify God and Him alone in all that we do.

It is widely known that many fully engaged leaders and adults with careers, families and community involvement— with busy lives— often desire to further their education and be better equipped for their chosen task of Christian service, regardless of their vocational location.

To these people, NCI University & Theological Seminary offers an enriching learning experience that allows them to fit much needed education into their lives, rather than forcing them to fit their lives into education.

NCIU acknowledges that the local body of Christian believers and its community of members remain the primary place for planting and nurturing of biblical, foundational truth and meaningful spiritual experiences through what is termed “the Disciple-making Process”.

The “Disciple-making Process,” which is God’s prime weapon for extending His ever-increasing, unshakable kingdom throughout the nations and people groups of the entire earth, may take place within recognized structures or spontaneous, organic groups in the marketplace and beyond. The new life of faith needs to grow where it happens!

The necessity of this pivotal practice is under-scored by NCIU in the development and provision of appropriate foundation and disciple-making materials, such as are found in the Resources section of this website.

In the technology-driven twenty first century with the worldwide Internet providing adult learners with a more convenient global-focused education, this process is a basic task. The challenge, however, for NCI University & Theological Seminary is to make sure that this ‘convenience factor’ keeps technology as our servant and not our master. It also provides the global vehicle for us to be able to jointly engage in a genuine, educational, intellectually challenging and spiritually enriching experience.

It is because of the commitment to maintaining this academic standard and practical spiritual development that NCI University & Theological Seminary is able to provide culturally relevant and meaningful distance-learning, higher education programs, establishing it amongst the more innovative Christian institutions of higher learning.

NCI University & Theological Seminary also works alongside a number of campus-based Christian education providers on the five main continents and gives special recognition to their validated programs as equal components of the total learning requirements to receive specified, academic awards for religious, vocational purposes.

Go to this websites contact page:http://www.newcovenant.edu/index.php?page=contact

You will find an address and map (address sound familiar?). Click the image below to see the screen grab of where the map says this ‘University’ is. (Drag image to URL, to see bigger image.)

Enter this address into Google maps and you will find  this familiar location. (Drag image to URL, to see bigger image.)

It’s the same place. No university. The university’s information is wrong when it says, “In 1990 NCIU was incorporated in the United States as an independent, self-governing corporation where it remains to this day”.

___________________________________________

I quickly went over to this site to check if NCI University & Theological Seminary should be indeed considered a diploma mill:http://www.elearners.com/guide/online-colleges-universities-and-schools/diploma-mills/.

How can I tell if a school is a diploma mill?

  • They often have names similar to well-known colleges or universities, but fail to mention an accrediting agency or name a fake accrediting agency.
  • The organization frequently changes addresses, sometimes moving from state to state.
  • Written materials typically include numerous spelling and grammatical errors, sometimes on the diploma itself.
  • Overemphasis on the speed and brevity with which someone can receive a degree (e.g. “Call now and have your degree shipped to you overnight!”).
  • Degrees can be earned in far less time than normal (e.g. 27 days) or the diploma is printed with a specific backdate.
  • There is no selectivity in admissions, or any questions about previous test scores or detailed academic history.
  • No interaction with professors or faculty (e.g. only two emails are received from a professor).
  • Degree requirements are vague or unspecified, lacking class descriptions and without any mention of how many credit hours are required to complete a program.
  • Tuition and fees are typically on a per-degree basis.
  • Grade point average (GPA) and academic honors (e.g. Summa Cum Laude) can be specified at the time of purchase.

____________________________________________

Finally, I found this comment made by Lionfish on Groupsects:

“Dr Phil (Pringle) “earned” his doctorate from New Covenant International University in Florida writing a book about Acts.

Note that even on his own site he does not quote the Institution from where he “earned”” this qualification: Source:http://www.philpringlegallery.com/bio.html

Here is the website for this institution: http://www.newcovenant.edu/(note the low number of visitors to the site and the ‘sprawling campus at this address: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=7255+South+Military+Trail+Lake+Worth,+33463-7899+USA&sll=37.509726,-95.712891&sspn=38.626676,93.164063&ie=UTF8&ll=26.569491,-80.111275&spn=0.042912,0.090981&z=14

There are a number of well researched sources that document that New Covenant International University is yet another diploma mill.

“This is a legal religious educational institution in the state of Florida in the USA. The Florida Statutes 1005.6 (f) states that, “A religious college may operate without governmental oversight”.

That means you can start up an university to teach black magic in Florida as long as the rules in Statutes 1005.6 is followed. You can give out Ph.D in Voodoo or Ph.D in Bomoh, if you like. Though being legally instituted by the state of Florida, that alone does not guarantee the recognition of the institution’s degrees in other states of the USA and other countries. Such recognition comes through ‘accreditation’. That means the master’s degrees and doctorates provided by institutions which are accredited and those which are not are qualitatively different.

The accreditation body that guarantees the quality of higher education in Florida is the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Theological seminaries and Christian universities like Asbury Theological Seminary and Baylor University are accredited by the body. And New Covenant International University & Theological Seminary is not in the accreditation list.

Simply said, those without accreditation is free to grant degrees without ensuring academic competency and so the certificates are not recognized. The implication is that those people who got their degrees and doctorates from unaccredited institutions cannot use the title “Dr.” in their referent, or even if they use it, it is a fake “Dr.”, like calling a woman without a child under her care as “mother”.

Now you may be wondering why am I highlighting the New Covenant International University & Theological Seminary. That is because the institution’s president Kevin Dyson was here earlier this year giving a series of talks on relationship at City Harvest Church. And lo and behold, our local charismatic Kong Hee’s Master of Divinity (M.Div) and Doctor of Theology (D.Th) are from Dyson’s institution. If he really wants a good quality theological education degree, he can get them from local seminaries and theological colleges. There are plenty which are accredited here. Don’t have to get from a dubious institution in Florida. But if he prefer overseas degrees, he should opt for places like Asbury or Baylor”. Source:http://szezeng.blogspot.com/2009/12/new-covenant-international-university.html

In summary:

1: Be wary of any Doctorate earned in the US – especially Florida. 2: Do your own research
3: Ask for a copy of Dr Phil’s transcript and ask any University in Australia whether they would recognize it
3: Be extremely wary of anything a megachurch Pastor tells you!

Kind regards,

RJM – Lionfish”

  • So Phil Pringle for the last few years has been asking his staff and students to call him Dr Phil.
  • Pringle has used his ‘Doctorate’ to promote and advertise his ministry and ministry colleges.
  • Phil Pringle is on a board of members where he seems to know the president of the NCI University & Theological Seminary, Kevin Dyson.
  • Kevin Dyson DID have an educational institution in Florida, which later moved off the property.
  • Kevin Dyson also gave Kong Hee a Master’s and Doctorate in theology.

Maybe it is worth to take Steve Levicoff’s advice from his book, ‘Name It and Frame It’. If the book was released in 1993, it already exposes the sad credentials of Kong Hee. With Pringle it is more questionable. There is no sign whatsoever that the Seminary is now endorsed as an accredited educational facility. Since Pringle gained his doctorate in 1999, the chances are incredibly high that it is not legitimate.

What adds further weight to it’s illegitimacy is the fact that Pringle only promoted his credentials only a few times. The second time I found he used his doctorate credentials, he was too vague to explain where he got them, what he got them for and who gave them to him. Even if he knows his doctorate is meaningless, why would he not promote people to call him ‘Doctor’ anyway?

If anyone has any more information regarding this, please comment and source your information.

Pringle Says Honour Bevere With Money “To Trigger The Impact of Grace In Your Life”

Pringle says,

“Do you know a transaction takes place the moment you receive spiritual life, one half of it comes into you, one half of the transaction is that truth coming into you, and to activate that truth, I have no doubt about this, that we actually have got to return the same kind of honour, the same kind of impact its had back on us, back to that servant of God. Paul says if I have ministered to you spiritual things its a small matter that you would minister to me in in natural things carnal things like money, he says its a comparison though, the comparison is is is very hard to make he says between a spiritual quality and a natural thing, but he says the reason that that transaction has to happen is for it to trigger the impact of grace in your life, to trigger the impact of this message in your life, ’cause we can hear it and go away with information, or else we can go out of this place with a revelation that’s deep in our spirit, and one of the ways we make that happen is by blessing the vessel that its come to us through.” – Phil Pringle, C3 Oxford Falls, (1:05), 08/04/2012.

Pringle says we should give money to a leader to “trigger the impact of grace” in our lives. How is that grace? Isn’t this buying ‘grace’? In response to Pringle’s love offering sermon, Pastor Gervase Charmley gave this response:

I am tempted to imitate Martyn Lloyd-Jones at this point and reply with the word “rubbish!” *I am quite certain that is what he would have said reading this. What we have here is an example of a false conclusion, or rather a text dragged in and misapplied to give apparent support to that which is unsupported. The ‘transaction’ Pringle is teaching is no-where found in the Scriptures, it is an invention of man. It is not even based on an actual Bible text, but a mis-quotation of Romans 15:27, which is in fact talking about helping poor Christians in Jerusalem. These poor Christians belonged to the Jewish Church which first sent out the Gospel to the Gentiles, and therefore made those Gentiles “partakers of their spiritual things”. Now that those Christians were suffering poverty and need, it was only right that the Gentiles should “minister to them in material things.” The text is not even saying what Pringle says it does!

Now, in 1 Corinthians 9:11 (which Pringle seems to have conflated with the Romans passage in his mind), Paul does say, “If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things?” This is part of an extended section in which Paul is talking about is the undoubted responsibility of the Church to support the ministry of the word (in a reasonable and proportionate way; no man ever got rich by being a Baptist Pastor, as I have often said, and that is how it should be, says he who is a Baptist pastor). It is notable that there he does not talk about missed blessings, or anything in any way corresponding to the idea that we have to so give “to trigger the impact of grace.” Indeed, for Paul to say that we have to do such a thing would be utterly repugnant. Grace is God’s initiative, it not something we have to ‘trigger’ in its impact or anything else. You will look in vain for such an idea in 1 Corinthians 9, which is merely an exhortation for the Church to support the ministry of the word.

The majority of what is being said is, I am afraid, best described by Shakespeare, “Like a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” It is merely a way to try to get people to give more money, by promising that if they do they will receive a special revelation. To return to the Doctor, “Rubbish!”

“Phil Pringle – False Prophet” Christian-Witness Ministries Claims

Phil Pringle claims he is a prophet. Here he claims to be your Elijah.

Is Phil Pringle ‘Your Elijah’?

Moriah Ministries says they have exposed Phil Pringle as a false prophet:

Phil Pringle – False Prophet!

Well, as expected Senior Pastor of the Oxford Falls Christian City Church, Phil Pringle has exposed himself as a false prophet by shamelessly proclaiming in the Lord’s Name that an event would take place which did not (see article below).  There was no New Zealand Revival; There was no supernatural move of God toward such; there were no lightening bolts issuing forth from the long white cloud; there was no street rampage toward repentance – no feet running through the streets – no wind, no desperation. There was no mass exodus into churches, there was no, ‘Move of God’. IT SIMPLY DIDN’T HAPPEN folks.

Phil Pringle has been caught out uttering what the Bible calls, ‘Vain Imaginations’ and according to Scripture has invited the Lord’s rejection and wrath.

I am quite confident the Charismatic Spin Machine is presently working overtime to get around this one! And while some may consider this matter a small thing let me assure you the Heavenly Father does NOT!

In Old Testament times an ordained ‘prophet’ could prophesy on the Father’s behalf without error and live for the duration of his accuracy, however the moment he uttered asingle false prophesy – just ONE –  he was stoned to death, Why?  – Because the Father’s Name, Credibility and Reputation were and continue to be at stake; That is why the Heavenly Father does not consider false proclamations a small matter – they are what they are, a DIVIDING of His people. Phil Pringle is a False Prophet and as such is to be rejected as a credible authority within the Christian Church.

I emailed Ashley Evans (Senior Pastor of the Paradise Community Church) and associated affiliates of Phil Pringle regarding this pending exposure on the 27th of December 2005 – As expected, I have to date (April 17, 2006) received no response.

Therefore, let it not go without mention that Ashley Evans and his affiliates including Word Bookstore Australia, 107.9 Life FM and others are using Phil Pringle’s proven failed credibility to endorse the Paradise Community Church’s upcoming Influencers Conference 2006 Suffice it to say that should Ashley and his sponsors continue to use Pringle’s endorsements, it will be a clear indication of their collective failure to honour Scriptural protocol when dealing with liars exposed as false prophets – and as I mentioned in the initial post there are. .  ‘All sorts of credibility’s at stake here’.

What do I expect will come of this exposure? . . . Why nothing of course . . . C’mon. . . These people are masters of smoke and mirrors, they have an agenda and driven by their blinkered, ‘end justifies the means’ credo, will surely seek to bury this event and press on regardless . .  that is how they work . . they are the consummate: Sultans of Head In The Sand.

In the movie ‘Leap of Faith’ featuring Steve Martin (GREAT MOVIE) – a parody of a traveling snake oil merchant known as an ‘evangelist’ with his ‘miracle healing’ sideshows, come these telling lines. . .

[Martin before an effigy of Christ on a cross] . . . “Hey Boss . . . Remember me? . . . Jack Newton? . . . Got a question for ya . . Why did you make so many suckers?

Enters a kid who was healed the night before by his own faith hearing Martin chiding the Lord in a moment of honesty . . . the kid says . . .

“Are you saying you’re a fake?”

Martin says, “I KNOW I am a fake”

The kid parrots Martins previous words, “Well, what difference does it make if you get the job done?” [end justifies the means credo]

Martin replies . .  “ Kid?  . .  It makes all the difference in the world!”

HEY . .  How come the world gets it and the so-called Church doesn’t? How did we get so smug?. .  so unbelievably arrogant?

*Shakes head*  . . . Meanwhile back in Real-Ville . . . while these deceivers pat one another on the back, indulge in their own collective delusions and convince themselves that it will all work out in the end because they are, ‘doing it in His name’, let us mere simpletons reflect on what the One these, ‘enlightened personages’ claim to represent has to say on the subject of false prophets  . . . for the education of the loopy Laodicean left who CAN’T and WON’T see how far from the truth they have strayed . . .

“Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD…Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD….

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you…

I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal…

Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.”

Pringle Prophesy Set to Expose a True or False Prophet

Subject: NZ Pray from 15.2.05

Date: Mon, 14 Feb 2005 22:59:43 +1300

NZPRAY: Let’s get excited about Revival coming to New Zealand! We know that God has countless ways of getting people’s attention – we will pray through a few this week – he may use natural disasters, an outpouring of his spirit, an evangelist, and he may use YOU and ME! His ways are higher than ours.  However he chooses to do it, let’s press in and ‘see’ revival come to NZ and call it from the supernatural into the natural!

Prophecy given by Phil Pringle in Australia

“I believe New Zealand is about to have in 2005 a revival that will eclipse any kind of revival it has ever had in the history of that nation.  I believe by the power of the Holy Spirit New Zealand is about to have a touch from Heaven.  A touch from Heaven and the finger of God is poised in the heavens.  I see it I see lightening bolts coming out of the Long White Cloud. I see feet running through the streets to get to meetings. I see things happening that have never happened before people running to church in New Zealand. I see them running through the streets of Wellington. I see them running down and the wind is blowing. They are pushing against the wind they are trying to get to churches. There are people running in Auckland down Queen Street to get to church. People are running They are desperate, some are full of fear some are full of faith. But they are running to church. This is going to happen in New Zealand 1000’s and 1000’s of people running to church – running It’s probably not ever happened in New Zealand before. Amen, Here endeth that prophecy –  Praise God”

Comments: Well, time is ticking away and only a couple of weeks remain before Philip Pringle is either exonerated as a legitimate prophet of the Living God or yet another in a long, long line of frauds. Rest assured we will make it loudly known either way, remembering of course Pringle is one of the endorsers of the Paradise Community Church’s Influencers Conference 2006.

All sorts of credibility’s at stake here!

Is C3 A “Pseudo-Christian Cult”, It’s Leader Suffering From A “Diotrephes Complex”?

You decide. The following is a quote from Pringle’s book, ‘Top 10 Qualities of a Great Leader Leader’. (By Dr. Phil Pringle.) This version was written in 2007.

We will be looking at more content of this book in nother articles in relation to C3 possibly being a ‘pseudo-Christian cult’.

On page 128 Pringle writes,

“The Arrogance of Diotrephes

I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. 10 Therefore, if I come, I will call to mind his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words. And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the church.’ 3 John 1:9,10

His name literally means “raised and nourished by Jove,” which is another name for the chief Roman god, Jupiter, husband of Juno and god of light, the sky and weather, and god of the state and its welfare and its laws.

High achieving leaders inevitably have a healthy self-image, a robust ego. However, ego also needs a leash. The leader who breathes all the air in a room chokes everyone else out. This leader resents anyone else receiving any credit, attention, or privileges. Rather than releasing, he restricts everyone under his leadership. Let’s call this disorder the “Diotrephes complex.”

“I wrote to the church, BUT Diotrephes. . .” (v. 9), the apostle John explains. This leader is disagreeable. He’s contentious. He’s a “but” in the relationship. He’s an opposer. John oversees this church. He is desperate to communicate with the people but the local leader is blocking him. Never underestimate the power of leadership. It carries the power to release or restrict an entire church into or out of blessing.

“. . . Diotrephes,. . . loves. . . preeminance. . .“ (v. 9). Diotrephes preens himself with the attention of the followers. The seeds of false pseudo-Christian cults are seen when leaders place themselves rather than Christ at the center of a group. They make disciples of themselves, not Christ.” – Phil Pringle, Top 10 Qualities of a Great Leader Leader, 2007, pg. 128.

Phil Pringle Prophesies A Money Multiplication Anointing On His Leaders

In May 2011 after the Presence Conference 2011, Pringle said in his leaders meeting,

“But I do know that I have super confidence in the areas of barren couples. You know or- that’s a bad statement. But, people who can’t have children. I just know it’s going to work! And there are some healings, I know it’s going to work. And I try not to promise beyond that knowing. So that only- if I know that a thing is going to happen do I- what I move towards saying, ‘This is going to happen.'” (00:26-00:55)

He also said,

“But I do believe that – and this is a surprising thing to me because I never, ever felt this in my whole life before – that things are going to multiply. That people are going to walk out of our church services and money is going to multiply in their pockets. Now I know all of you are wanting to run out right now and just check it out. Hahahaha!

Some of you haven’t got any money to multiply! And Sheralyn, you know I do believe what you said before that baptised in the Holy Spirit… And what was the other one? And baptised by water. Yeah but you missed out tithing.

Yeah, you see now there’s all sorts of problems if a person doesn’t tithe. And so the multiplying will be held up on you. But the blessing – oh! you went quiet right there. And uh, you know- but um. But it’s true! The multiplying power of God, I believe, is going to come on everybody. Everybody! While I was sitting in this, in this [meeting?] tonight I thought, I was thinking, “This anointing is going to get on everybody! I can taste it! I can smell it! It’s in the atmosphere.” (00:56-02:10)
