The Messianic Phil Pringle gave ‘great news’ to hundreds of Christians at C3 Church Oxford Falls:

“And so that’s part of the reason why I am able to go there and uh- and they’ve just had ah- one really interesting breakthrough in this last week where the Commission of Charities (that’s the organisation overseeing charities in Singapore) has exonerated Sun from [audience applauses] all ah- all charges against her so- There was a pretty interesting ah- ah- so ah- You know I’m  believing that we will ah- see continual victories like that-” [Read here]

The TR Emeritus reports,

COC proceeds to remove 8 CHC leaders from office

Kong Hee’s wife, Sun Ho, not removed for now

The Commissioner of Charities (COC) released a press statement yesterday (9 Apr) stating its intention to remove 8 suspended City Harvest Church (CHC) leaders from their respective offices at CHC.

COC last year, with the consent of the Attorney General, had suspended 9 CHC leaders, including Kong Hee and his wife Ho Yeow Sun (better known as Sun Ho), from their duties as office bearers of CHC. This was done pending consideration of their removal later, under the Charity Act.

According to the Act, the suspension orders are valid for a period of not more than 12 months. Before the lapse of the 12-month suspension, COC said that it intends to proceed to the next stage of the process, which is to consider the removal of these individuals from their positions in CHC. This is to protect the charitable property of CHC. The individuals removed may, however, continue with their religious duties which are separate from the holding of any governance or management positions in CHC.

COC said that its regulatory action is independent of the criminal proceedings faced by 6 of the 9 affected individuals (i.e. Kong Hee, Lam Leng Hung, Tan Ye Peng, Tan Shao Yuen Sharon, Chew Eng Han and Serina Wee Gek Yin).

However, in view of the concurrent criminal proceedings against those 6, COC on 28 Dec 2012 made a proposal to all the 9 suspended individuals that the COC would defer the next stage of any regulatory action (i.e. consideration to remove them) should they collectively agree to a voluntary extension of their suspension orders until 6 months after the conclusion of the criminal trial. COC said this was done purely on a goodwill basis so that the affected parties, especially the 6, could focus on the criminal proceedings. Also, it would allow them to have time later to make their case, should they want to, during the removal process, which COC planned to start after the criminal trial. In the meantime, with the extended suspension of these individuals, the property of CHC continues to be protected.

COC said that the deadline for the consent from the 9 was extended twice, and by 7 Feb 2013, 8 out of the 9 suspended individuals had agreed to COC’s proposal to voluntarily extend their suspension orders. COC, in fact, was prepared to consider deferring the next stage of regulatory action even though 1 of them had declined to give consent.

However, when the COC later asked the 8 individuals to confirm their agreement to voluntarily extend their suspension (notwithstanding the lack of consent by the 1 individual), only 5 out of the 8 were prepared to do so. 3 had rescinded their earlier agreement. So, in view of the lack of collective agreement among the individuals and the 12-month duration of the suspension orders (initiated last year) endng soon, the COC has no choice but to proceed with the next stage of the process so as to protect the assets of CHC. That is to say, COC will now initiate the removal process as stipulated by the Charity Act.

PROPOSAL TO REMOVE 8 CHC LEADERS FROM OFFICE

Based on their inquiry report (7 Feb 2011), COC said it intends to remove the following 8 individuals from their respective offices:

  1. Kong Hee;
  2. Lam Leng Hung;
  3. Tan Ye Peng;
  4. Kelvin Teo Meng How;
  5. Tan Shao Yuen Sharon;
  6. Tan Su Pheng Jacqueline;
  7. Chew Eng Han; and
  8. Serina Wee Gek Yin.

In respect of Kong Hee’s wife, Ho Yeow Sun, after reviewing the evidence against her, COC feel that at this point, there is insufficient evidence that she was responsible for or was privy to any misconduct and mismanagement that may have taken place in CHC. COC said should evidence surface to indicate that she was so involved, it will review her status again.

In the meantime, COC will proceed with the removal proceedings against the other 8 individuals.

INVITATION OF REPRESENTATIONS FROM PUBLIC

In relation to the removal proceedings, COC has to give notice to the 8 individuals to remove them. And according to the Act, a public notice of the proposal to remove a governing board member, trustee or key officer is also required. It is noted that any such removal of an individual as governing board member, trustee or key officer will mean that the person is prohibited from taking up such positions in any charity in future.

COC said it has already given notice to the following 4 individuals and invited them to make representations:

  • Tan Shao Yuen Sharon (as employee),
  • Serina Wee Gek Yin (as employee);
  • Tan Su Pheng Jacqueline (as employee); and
  • Chew Eng Han (as agent)

For the following 4 individuals, COC has also given notice and invited them to make representations. In addition, as provided for under the Act, COC invites representations from the public to be made to COC on its proposal to remove them:

  • Kong Hee (as governing board member)
  • Lam Leng Hung (as governing board member and trustee);
  • Tan Ye Peng (as governing board member and trustee); and
  • Kelvin Teo Meng How (as key officer)

The public can write to COC by email to mccy_charities@mccy.gov.sg or by post to the Office of the Commissioner of Charities at 140 Hill Street, #02-00 Old Hill Street Police Station, Singapore 179369, clearly stating “Representations on the COC’s Proposal following the Inquiry into the City Harvest Church”. All representations must be signed off with the full name, NRIC no. and contact details of the person making the representation. The deadline is 13 May 2013.

COC has assured that the worship services of CHC can continue as usual.

“I’m gonna tell the whole world, “You’ve got three followers on Twitter!” – Phil Pringle

In the below quote, Pringle narcigetes 2 Samuel 30:6 to justify, explain and warn his congregation on some peculiar things. It is clear in his use of the text he seems to somehow see himself as a ‘king’ over his church and within the offline or online communities. To clarify, the New Testament does NOT teach that a pastor is a king, nor is Phil Pringle Jesus or Moses. If you have been reading the various articles on Phil Pringle here, it should be pretty clear he is clearly a false teacher and a false prophet. It is this type of person Jesus warns us against in Matthew 7.

In this article, we reveal Pringle provides some interesting information in a sermon he gave in 2011.

      1. Pringle teaches that people in his church may “get wounded” and experience “distress” and “grief”. If it was the world persecuting the church that is understandable. However, Pringle provides the context of his warning. He says Christians in his movement could experience with other Christians (in or outside his movement) traumatic experiences that may test their loyalty to him and his movement. If it’s gossip this is understandable. However, once again – the point of controversy within the framework of his teaching evolved around him. Which leads to our next point.
      2. Pringle reveals he has been approached by people who have said that they will “go to the newspaper”. He emphasises that he has heard people say this “many times” to him. This tells us that people HAVE expressed their concerns to him and he has rejected them, their reports or corrections. The result being, people have seemingly stated to Pringle they will “go to the newspaper” because issues were not personally resolved with Pringle.
      3. Pringle alerts us to the fact he is aware what people are saying on Facebook and blogging communities about him and his movement. In June 2011, MyC3ChurchReview (MC3CR) was established around the time C3ChurchWatch started up. It is possible that Pringle may have been referring to the manager of the MC3CR site who also started a twitter account with about three followers. In spite of what is being said online regarding his teaching or practices, he has shown that he would rather mock them or ‘stone them’. This only goes to show Pringle refuses to be corrected or deal with certain false doctrines, his false gospel, scandals within his movement, bad behaviour or false methodologies.

Here is the transcript:

“The leader who had transformed their lives, turned them into men (feared by the entire country side)- now they want to stone him because they are in such grief because the “soul of all the people was grieved. Every man for his sons and his daughters.”

When people are upset they want to blame somebody.  And, “Isn’t he the guy who led us down to do this battle down there? Let’s just stone him!”

It happens. It’s not- not uncommon. Moses. “Isn’t he the guy? Let’s stone him!” Jesus. “Let’s stone Him!” You know. These guys had a- they we’re always addicted to getting stoned. [Audience laughs] It’s like, “Let’s just stone him! Let’s just throw stones! Let’s gossip! Let’s go to the- let’s go to the newspaper!”

Argh! Golly! How many times I heard that? “I’m gonna get all the press down there and yuhyuhgruhyuh!” You think it doesn’t happen? There may even be a day when you’re tempted to think that because something happened when you want out to battle and family members or friends or yourself- you get wounded and you’re in such distress, such grief- that’s the moment where there’s deep loyalty tests.

And you find those moments in life! Everybody does! “I’m gonna Facebook them! Obladyuhyuhyuh!!!” “You wont like any of this on my blog baby! Iya-blurdludludludludle!!! Blog away!” Everybody can have a shot of being heard! I’m gonna tell the whole world, “You’ve got three followers on Twitter!” – Phil Pringle, Ps Phil Pringle: Prayer 4 – I Like People, http://www2.myc3church.net/videos/ps-phil-pringle-prayer-4-i-people, 77:01, C3 Oxford Falls, Sunday Night Service, 25/09/2011.

proof_myc3church-4ILikePeople_20-02-13

There is one last thing to consider. Don’t you think it’s odd that Pringle implies that he’ll only listen to you depending on how big your following is on twitter? What other standard must a Christian uphold so that Phil Pringle might listen to their concerns and act on them?

We’ll end with Mark Dever talking addressing the faulty ‘church growth’ standard and application that ministers like Pringle adhere too.

And This Is How Pringle Restores Fallen ‘Pastor’ (And Prophet) Pat Mesiti?

pringle mesiti and money

In a previous article, we posted a transcript that revealed Phil Pringle allowing Pat Mesiti to financially con people to give money to Phil Pringle’s ministry. In this con, we pointed out that Pat Mesiti misleads and manipulates people to part with their finances.

Phil Pringle & Pat Mesiti Conning C3 Church To Give Cash

Here is another transcript that further reveals Phil Pringle endorsing Money-Magnet Mesiti to preach on money again at C3 Church in 2006. This critique should highlight how dangerously cult-like the C3 Church movement really is. In this sermon, Mesiti mangles or misses the point of  every scripture. He even claims to speak on behalf of God, (thus elevating himself to the status of infallibility). At the very bottom is transcript. Below is the critique.

IT’S ABOUT MESITI GETTING YOUR MONEY

Below, Pat Mesiti was invited to do an offering talk. That means, Mesiti was invited up by Phil Pringle to financially manipulate people into giving. Mesiti does a brilliant job in selectively replacing the words of God to get people to give money.

Here are some examples.

SAMPLE 1: JESUS WANTS YOU TO DO WHAT HE SAYS: TITHE

Mesiti says, “Jesus said this, that if you love me, do what I say… In Malachi Chapter 3…”

Jesus in a number ways says in John 14, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments”.

The difference is significant. By changing that one word, Mesiti has essentially:

1. taken Jesus’ statement out of context

2. turned Jesus’ statement around to apply something un-Christian so Mesiti can get Christians to do what he wants them to do.

Jesus says the above command FOUR times in this discourse, (John 14:15, 21, 23, 24). It becomes evident, that the disciples at that time had to hear Jesus’ instructions and teachings. Why? They were entrusted with his teachings and commands while he was on earth with them. The word for ‘keep’ in the original Greek in these four passages are tērēsete (14:15), tērōn (14:21), tērēsei (14:23) and  tērei (14:24). Each essentially meanin the same thing:  ‘to watch over, to guard’. Jesus was telling HIS disciples, “If you love me, you will WATCH OVER AND GUARD my commandments/teachings.”

In context, Jesus later explains (emphasis ours),

“Whoever does not love me does not keep my words (logous). And the word (logos) that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.

“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:24-26

This instruction was given to the Apostles not us. This is why the Apostles wrote  the gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and their epistles. Pat Mesiti has twisted the words of Jesus for his own un-Christian agenda. Jesus did not say, “if you love me, do what I say” so Mesiti can preach that we are to tithe.

SAMPLE 2: MESITI CURSES CHRISTIANS AT C3

In Malachi 3:8, Mesiti chooses to say, “will a man restrict, will a man block God”. In his attempt to convince people that the tithe is grace orientated, Mesiti tries to convince people that to tithe is to unblock God’s grace. This is backwards Christianity. If a Christian is to work at unblocking God’s grace, then how can one receive grace in the first place?

If Mesiti is elevating the giving of the tithe to unblock God’s blessing/power over his people, than Mesiti’s god is an incompetent god. A powerless god that is dependent on our works. So how can Pat Mesiti say this?

“the tithe, literally is a sign that God is really Lord and master over all. That is the symbol of the tithe.”

To teach that we can UNBLOCK God in our lives through tithing and then teach that the “tithe, literally is a sign that God is really Lord and master over all,” is double speak or double mindedness. The tithe is NOT a Christian teaching. This is heresy. This is legalism.

Furthermore, Pat Mesiti reveals how conniving he actually is to get people to give money. He lets his listeners know that Christians have issues with the teaching of Malachi 3:8-10.

“Now some people might say, ‘yeah, that’s Old Testament that’s under law.'”

Rightly so. Mesiti later refers to Abraham’s tithe to Melchizedek prior to the Law, saying this proves that the tithe… is not of the Law? But Mesiti cannot have it both ways. You can’t convince an audience that people ate fish ten years ago by eating bananas. Similarly, Mesiti can’t preach the tithe under the Mosaic Law and then say it never was.

In regards to Abraham’s tithe, God blessed Abraham FIRST and Abraham tithed ONCE. Yet Mesiti is trying to con people to tithe FIRST and CONSTANTLY so they can UNBLOCK God to receive blessings from His hands. According to Mesiti it is the tithe, not God, that “brings you protection” and “opens up the windows of Heaven”.

Has Mesiti not read Malachi 3:8-11? Last time we checked it was GOD who opens the ‘windows of heaven’ and protects us by ‘rebuking the devourer’ not the tithe. (Emphasis ours.)

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the LORD of hosts.” Malachi 3:10-11

It should be clear that Mesiti can’t even read the bible let alone notice his eyes are not on God but on money. He seems convinced that tithing money into a poker-machine-god will result in unblocking the chambers and receiving it’s abundant cash flow and supernatural protection. In this instance, this scriptural rebuke from the Apostle Paul applies to ‘restored pastor’ Pat Mesiti AND Phil Pringle for peddling this shameful message. (Emphasis added.)

“You foolish [pastors]! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you [Pringle and Mesiti]: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Have you suffered so much for nothing—if it really was for nothing?” Galatians 3:1-4

This then makes us question what Pat Mesiti means when he says, “I want to see people saved.” As a ‘restored pastor’, how can he wish to see people saved if he has no idea what the foundation of Christianity is? He has done a better job cursing and condemning Christians using God’s Law than pointing believers to the saving work of Christ. Mesiti is either lying on stage or he has no idea what he is doing as a ‘restored pastor’ (thanks to Phil Pringle’s mentor-ship).

MESITI MISSING THE POINT

Even every single scripture Mesiti even refers to in this sermon, he misses the point completely. Mesiti says,

“God doesn’t get that concept [of ‘just enough’] …because wherever God does a miracle…listen to me church, the loaves and the fishes, there’ll be 12 baskets left over…for everybody.”

Unfortunately, that miracle wan’t their to demonstrate that “God doesn’t get that concept” of ‘just enough’. The Apostle John explains why he recorded the loaves and the fishes miracle.

“Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:30-31

pringle mesiti money scamMesiti also missed the point when he referred to the widow of Zarephath. She did not receive the blessing because she tithed or had a ‘God-is-more-then-‘just-enough’ mindset. In Hebrews 11 (the faith chapter), she is obscurely mentioned in verse 35. Hebrews teaches us that “By faith” “Women received back their dead, raised to life again.” This was a woman that put her faith in God through God’s famous prophet Elijah in ancient Israel. Her household was spared from death that fateful day. Later when her son did die, it was by faith that her son was raised from the dead. It wasn’t by works but by faith God favoured her. It was by God’s grace that Elijah was sent by God to her house. It wasn’t by works but by grace and faith she was saved. Mesiti teaches likewise.

From the bible’s perspective, Pat Mesiti is not at all qualified to be restored to be a pastor.

MESITI LIES ABOUT GOD AGAIN

Mesiti twisted the words of Jesus to guilt people into giving money to Phil Pringle and his C3 Organisation.

His constant misuse of scripture leads to this lie of a conclusion:

“We are bringing out tithes, the bible says, unto Jesus.”

This is a lie. The bible does NOT tell Christians to tithe to Jesus. Jesus never tithed. So Jesus could never have taught Christians to tithe. His Apostles never tithed. So His Apostles could never have taught Christians to tithe. How can the scriptures call us to imitate Paul, the way he imitated Christ, if neither of them tithed?

MESITI BLASPHEMING GOD

Pat Mesiti also revealed that the ‘Holy Spirit’ he heard was not of God:

“here’s what I believe the Holy Spirit spoke to my spirit about.

“Tell my people, I don’t understand the concept of ‘just enough’.””

Really? God spoke to Prophet Pat? Yet the Apostle Paul, who wrote much of the New Testament, taught this amazing truth from God to believers:

“For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness. As it is written, “Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.”” 2 Corinthians 8:13-15

Isn’t it odd that Paul was thinking in advance AFTER the Corinths were to give money to the poor church in Jerusalem? Paul says that in the future, the Jerusalem church in their “their abundance may supply your [the Godly givers] need, that there may be fairness.” Fairness? According to Mesiti, they should have more than enough not “just enough”.

The above scripture portrays that Christians are to give freely to brothers so that all may have enough and vice versa. This then fulfills Paul’s use of the old testament scripture above. You will not find Paul teaching the church to tithe or to seek abundant material blessing. Nor will you see Paul teach that what you give, God will be unblocked to bless you back.

Furthermore, Paul says,

“I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:10-13

How could Mesiti pit the Holy Spirit against the Holy Spirit who wrote the scriptures? It is of our opinion that Pat Mesiti is blatantly lying to the C3 Church members. How else could he say the following, speaking on God’s behalf?

“and God says ‘I’ll pour open Heaven’ ‘I don’t understand the concept of just…..I wanna pour out abundance.’ But don’t restrict Him.””

Either way, this is serious slander against the character and teaching of God and His Holy Spirit. Mesiti is restricting God by telling people they can restrict God if they don’t give C3 their money. Furthermore, by claiming that God spoke to him or that he was speaking on behalf of God is incredibly dangerous. The fact that he spoke lies against God while claiming he was hearing from God should have made Pringle stand up and tell Mesiti to sit down.

The scriptures say that people like Mesiti and Pringle “in their greed … will exploit you with false words.” The ASV says false teachers in their greed “with feigned words make merchandise of you.” Is this not an accurate desciption of what Mesiti and Pringle are doing?

Don’t you think it is evil that Phil Pringle has ‘restored’ Pat Mesiti back into ministry, yet allowed him to lie about God’s word and slander God’s character? All for the sake so people can give money to Pringle’s church? Why didn’t Phil Pringle stop Mesiti from preaching? Why did he put up with this and endorse this message?

There is much more we could have focused on in this transcript. After reading the transcript below, feel free to comment on other points we missed.

Christian City Church

Oxford Falls

Sunday 1 October 2006

10am service

Pastors Phil Pringle and Pat Mesiti

http://202.125.166.74/ramgen/ccc/01100610am.rm

(Phil Pringle) ….So now we’re going to receive our tithes and offerings ….so I want you to get ready to give.. this morning…and if you need an envelope because you use a credit card for giving.. just raise your hand ..otherwise on a newsletter, there’s a tear off strip…you can fill out your details on that. We have an EFTPOS machine up the back…of if you’re on the internet you can give through the web page there.. up on the right hand side..you’ll find an area there for giving.

I’m going to ask Pat Mesiti just to come and share around the offering this morning. Amen. Give Pat a big hand would ya? (applause) In fact next Sunday morning, I’ve asked Pat to preach here, he’s going to preach about reaching the world. Amen. God bless ya.

(Pat Mesiti) Amen church. You love the Lord? Oh good …(inaudible) You love the Lord? (‘Yeah’)

Jesus said an interesting thing in the bible. I’ll have to give you a little bit…what prompted that thought.

Little while ago I was talking to someone ..and they said…they said, ‘Pat, I’m a Christian.’

‘And so, well, how do you define if you are a Christian?’

And they said ‘well, you know, I kinda go to church.’

And I said, ‘well that’s really cool.’ But, people ..don’t read the bible say really dumb things. And you would agree with that.

Jesus said this, that if you love me, do what I say.

Obedience is really the sign that we are lovers of Jesus. Can I get an ‘Amen’? How many of you are married? Raise your hands.

How many of you husbands have learned to obey your wife? (laughter) We Italians have got it figured out. we say ‘the man is the head, but the woman is the neck that turns him around’. (laughter)

In Malachi Chapter 3, come with me to this awesome passage of scripture. Pastor Phil is a modern day revivalist, would you agree with that?

I really believe that….can we give our pastor a hand, he’s a modern day revivalist. (applause)

And one of the keys to the outpouring of heaven ….we’ve had a lot about prayer ..and today we’re gonna hear about something else and next Sunday I want to really share about getting the salt out of a shaker and making a difference in our world..and can you please bring friends.

I want to see people saved.

But here in Malachi Chapter 3…it shows us this incredible insight into opening up the windows of Heaven.

Not just prayer and telling people and acts of mercy, but God right here says this…he says ‘will a man rob God?’

Now the first thing is ..how do you take away from God?

It isn’t that we go to God ..and take that…because in actual fact, God really enjoys it when you take something of Him into your world.

When you take grace from His throne ..into your world…God enjoys it… can I get an Amen? (‘Amen’)

But here’s the concept…if you look at the Hebrew scripture …it is a picture of a goblet with a lid on it. And the way we rob God is we put a restriction on what God loves to do. Which is what? Blessing.

And it says, ‘will a man restrict, will a man block God.’

Here you say, how have you robbed me? And God says ‘in tithes and offerings’.

And then He says this, ‘Bring all the tithes into the storehouse.’ Everybody say ‘all the tithes’ (‘all the tithes’)

Everybody say ‘all the tithes’ (‘all the tithes’)

What is a tithe? Let me explain. The tithe…is 10 per cent. Everybody say ’10 per cent’ (’10 per cent’).

10 per cent.

God says, ‘Bring me what’s mine …bring me that 10 per cent.’ If you’re in a business deal…and someone said to you, ‘you know what….I’m going to let you keep 90 per cent, just give me 10, how many of you think that would be a great business deal?

And God says ’10 per cent’.

Now some people might say, ‘yeah, that’s Old Testament that’s under law.’ Oh, no, no, no, no.

This is pre-law, this is under the Malchizadek priesthood, who is a type of Jesus.

We are bringing out tithes, the bible says, unto Jesus.

10 per cent. Now why 10 per cent?

You see, if God set an amount, it would not be fair, correct? It wouldn’t be fair if God said ‘bring a thousand dollars to the storehouse every week.’ It wouldn’t be fair.

But God is a God who is a just and righteous God.

He said, ‘bring a percentage’, so that the person who’s earning a thousand dollars a week or a hundred thousand dollars a week …I had a gentleman in Malaysia one day say to me this…he said ‘if I bring my tithe to the church every week’ …he said (inaudible) …he said ‘I’d have to be bringing ten thousand dollars a week into the tithe’.

And I said ‘would you like me to pray that you only have to give a hundred dollars a week’? (laughter)

It’s all relevant. Say ‘Amen or ouch’.

See, and here it is, it’s not my tithe, language is so important, it’s His tithe, and the tithe, literally is a sign that God is really Lord and master over all. That is the symbol of the tithe.

Three things it does to you, it brings you protection.

Second thing it does, it opens up the windows of Heaven.

Listen to what it says here. Look at this church.

‘If I will not open up for you the windows of Heaven and pour out for you such a blessing, there will not be room enough to receive it.’

You know as I was driving to church this morning, I always try and prepare my spirit for the offering message, just in case.

I always say honestly every Sunday when I’m in church …I always do ..because…I know Pastor Phil.

But you know I was just preparing my heart, and I said, ‘Lord, if I were to do the offering this morning, what could I say that would encourage people?

And here’s what I believe the Holy Spirit spoke to my spirit about.

“Tell my people, I don’t understand the concept of ‘just enough’.”

God doesn’t get that concept …because wherever God does a miracle…listen to me church, the loaves and the fishes, there’ll be 12 baskets left over…for everybody.

When he taught out from the widow’s miracle ..of the widow’s oil …there..they filled the jars ..and there was so much there…she could have kept pouring today if she was alive. What an amazing thing.

When God does it, He’s a God of more than enough, his name is El Shaddai, the God of plenty, not El Cheapo, the Lord, the Tightwad. (laughter)

How many of you thank God for that?

And I want us to understand that this morning.

Let’s bring all the tithes, not half of it, a quarter of it, all the tithes ..and God says ‘I’ll pour open Heaven’

‘I don’t understand the concept of just…..I wanna pour out abundance.’ But don’t restrict Him.

Father, we thank you for our ability to be able to give to you. I thank you for this House, I thank you for what you’re doing. I thank this House, your building, we’re working with you.

Lord I ask you to bless every tither, every obedient tither …as they bring your store out of every offering, in Jesus’ name.

If you need an envelope this morning, please raise your hand.

If you want to give by credit card, at the back of the room there is an EFTPOS machine there, if you’d like to give through EFTPOS machine.

If you’re writing out a cheque, please make it payable to Christian City Church.

God bless you church as you give.”

Length of offering sermon..7:05min

Kong Hee and Sun Ho said at Presence Conference 2012 that as soon as investigations started 23 months ago, Pringle “graciously accepted to be the advisory pastor to City Harvest Church.”

You will also notice that just like Phil Pringle, Kong Hee is close friends with “Dr.” Kevin Dyson (from New Covenant International). Sound familiar? We will look into this shortly.

However CHCs City News, reported something different on the 4th of October, 2010 in regards to when Pringle became advisory pastor. So when did Phil Pringle become the advisory pastor?

City Harvest Appoints Advisory Committee

Posted on 04 October 2010

As part of continuing efforts to improve on structure, governance and accountability, CHC names the chairman and advisory pastor of its advisory committee.

At its weekend service last week, senior pastor of City Harvest Church Rev. Kong Hee announced that Dr. A.R. Bernard of Christian Cultural Center and Pastor Phil Pringle of Christian City Church will serve on the church’s advisory committee, which is being set up these few weeks.

Neither are strangers to CHC; both Bernard and Pringle have been long-time friends and guest speakers at the church, preaching at least twice every year for well over a decade.

“Since the early 1990s, the church has always benefited greatly from the assistance and advice of external pastors and ministers,” Kong told the congregation at the four services, naming Elder George Ong from Church of Singapore, Rev. George Ee from Calvary Charismatic Centre, Dr. Kevin Dyson from New Covenant International and Dr. Ulf Ekman from Word Of Life among past advisors.

“However, while CHC had benefited greatly from the wisdom and experience of such pastors and paid due respect to them, there was no structure or arrangement in place to formally acknowledge them. In 2007, provision was made for this with the proposal for a board of independent advisors, but this board had not been staffed until now.

“If there is anything I’ve learned through the process of this investigation, it is the need for a greater level of accountability and governance in the operations of City Harvest Church,” explained Kong, before announcing that Bernard and Pringle, “two men whom we all respect greatly and have the heart of CHC, as well as the expertise and experience to serve in this capacity,” had agreed to formalize an advisory committee to serve CHC.

Bernard will assume the role of chairman of the advisory committee. A former Wall Street banker, Bernard oversees the 33,000-member Christian Cultural Center in New York. He is also currently the president of the Council of Churches of the City of New York. He sits on the New York City Economic Development Corporation Board, and is a member of the Debt Reduction Task Force for the U.S. Senate Budget Committee.

“Most importantly, Dr. A.R. Bernard is a great friend and a strong supporter of our vision, mission and core values of CHC,” says Kong.

Pringle will be appointed advisory pastor to CHC. He is City Harvest’s oldest friend, having supported the church “since there were 200 people in a warehouse [the size of the Expo auditorium].”

He is the senior minister of Christian City Church in Oxford Falls, Sydney, and also oversees more than 250 Christian City Churches worldwide. In the year 2000, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for extraordinary services to the community.

“As the Chairman, Dr. Bernard has agreed to come help us once every two months, while Pastor Phil will be coming once or twice a month,” announced Kong. “Both of them will be assisting our pastoral ministry in the planning, organizing, initiating, promoting, coordinating and reviewing of the worship, religious education and mission activities within the church.” The church may consider additional appointments to the committee when appropriate or when the need arises.

Kong’s announcement drew enthusiastic applause and cheers from the congregation at all four services.

“I thought that the announcement was a clear demonstration of what our leaders stand for—accountability and unity. To be able to open ourselves to ideas, opinions, checks and balances is not only the wise thing to do but the right thing to do,” commented church member Bernard Lim, 47, a financial educator. “At the same time, the demonstration of unity among the brethren, standing together in a time of need, fleshes out what we have been talking about. CHC is witnessing both leadership-by-example at work and what being a Christian truly means.”

“I am glad they are setting up the advisory committee,” said Vivienne Ho, 42, an insurance broker. “I’m very touched by Dr. Bernard and Pastor Phil’s great sacrifice for our church. This is a heavy responsibility and they have their own churches, not to mention the fact that they live overseas. For them to be here every month is a very serious commitment.”

Pringle shared with City News the reasons why he said yes to this new role. “First, when Kong asked me, I said, Let me go and pray about it. And I did. I also talked it over with [wife] Chris, and we talked with our leaders. I felt peace and they felt right about it, so I have to conclude that God has guided us.“We Place CHC As A Priority”

“Second, Kong and Sun and CHC are dear to us. We have a long history. There are some friends you would lay down your life for, and they are two of them. God gives you only a few divine connections in life. Do whatever you can to ensure these connections serve God.

“Third, this church is important to the world today. It is a great church builder and planter. It has been a leader in showing people in Asia and the world how to do church. It is holy, pursues purity, keeps the Word of God—it does not compromise on these issues. But it is contemporary and relevant in the world, not only being acceptable but leading in the marketplace.”

Bernard shares Pringle’s commitment to Kong and CHC. “I believe in the work and ministry of Pastor Kong and City Harvest,” he told City News. “And our loyalty is tested in times of crisis. Whether we will stand or abandon our important friendships … [and] I don’t believe that God ever abandons the work of His own hands.”

These new roles mean some measure of sacrifice for both ministers. Pringle shared that this commitment will take him out of church six more weekends than in a normal year. “We have a really good team in Sydney with a lot of rising leaders,” he said. “We feel confident that [the church will] be in good hands.”

As for his network of nearly 300 C3 churches throughout the world, Pringle said that he would be able to maintain constant communication with them. “The only other area that may cost is my availability for preaching and weekend events around the world,” he admitted, “but I should be able to take midweek conferences.

“We place CHC as a priority—it takes priority in our schedules and resources.”

While Pringle consults on day-to-day matters, Bernard’s role is macro, aimed at strengthening the governance and structure of the church. “I want to do everything to make sure the church is strong, and spiritually, emotionally and psychologically prepared to embrace the exciting future that God has for CHC,” explained Bernard.

He expressed his agreement with Kong that there is an urgent need to take the leadership, governance and operations of CHC to the next level. “We are considering the best way at this point to ensure longevity and perpetuity of the ministry.”

The objective behind his involvement is to “bring the church to a greater level of efficiency and effectiveness. By efficiency, I mean great accountability and focus in the financial management of the church. By effectiveness, I mean reaching the specific and agreed-upon goals and purposes of CHC.”

At service, Kong told the congregation: “By the grace of God, we have done remarkably well as a church in the past 21 years. We now look forward to building on the gifting, anointing and wisdom of these two men of God as members of our advisory committee. They have both been mentors to me and my wife Sun. They will now strengthen and add to our spiritual DNA. Through their independent perspectives, they will bring fresh and novel ideas to build up our church in the years to come.”

With support from Bernard and Pringle, CHC is bracing for a time of change that will prepare it for the next level. “The whole advisory committee is about making the congregation feel safe and assured,” Bernard added. “It is not to be perceived that we are coming over and turning it into something else.

“We are accepting responsibility for the future of the church.”

“When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”” Acts 8:18-23

Citizen-Times reports,

Bellamy to give bank fraud player’s donation to charity

Money given by fraud convict

ASHEVILLE — Democratic congressional candidate Terry Bellamy will give to charity $350 she got from a local pastor facing five years in prison for his part in a bank fraud scheme involving real estate investors.

Nicholas Dimitris, who leads C3 Church on Merrimon Avenue, pleaded guilty in December to conspiracy for serving as a straw borrower to get $825,000 from Pisgah Community Bank, according to federal court papers.

Dimitris made the political donation in February, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Fundraising reports were due Sunday.

Dimitris’ donation is a small part of Bellamy’s total. She is winning the money race among Democrats in the 10th District primary with $121,356 raised in the first quarter. Most of the money came from individuals.

She had $52,433 on hand at the end of the quarter. She got $2,400 from four political groups, including outgoing Democratic 11th District U.S. Rep Heath Shuler’s 3rd and Long PAC.

Bellamy, also Asheville’s mayor, said she did not know Dimitris personally but does know his wife and once spoke at his church in her official capacity as the city’s top leader.

She said she made the decision to give the money to Western Carolinians for Criminal Justice on Patton Avenue after being asked about Dimitris’ donation by the Citizen-Times this week.

“We felt that would be a better place for his funding,” she said.

Four people have already pleaded guilty to being involved in schemes to make or receive millions of dollars in straw loans in the Asheville area following a federal investigation.

They are former Bank of Asheville President Gordon “Buddy” Greenwood, former Pisgah Community Bank officials Robert Craig Gourlay and David G. Smith, and Dimitris.

High-profile real estate investors Avery Ted “Buck” Cashion III and his wife Joan Lusk Cashion, Raymond M. “Ray” Chapman and Seven Falls developer Keith Arthur Vinson have been charged in the scheme.

Dimitris graduated from high school in New York in 1994 and studied theology at Beacon University in Georgia, according to court papers. He could not be reached for comment.

His C3 Church is a charismatic congregation affiliated with Christian City Church International.

C3 was founded by Phil and Chris Pringle in Australia. The organization has hundreds of affiliated churches worldwide and several in North Carolina.

Pringle Using His Prophecy Of Kong Hee To Elevate His ‘Prophetic Message’

PRINGLE’S PROPHECY OVER KONG HEE TO HAVE SUNTEC CITY

Kong Hee is the megachurch pastor in Singapore who runs City Harvest Church (CHC). Recently, we have been reporting the shocking allegations from Singapore of Kong Hee’s arrest. Phil Pringle is an advisory pastor and sits on CHC’s Advisory Committee.

Phil Pringle is in Singapore supporting CHC, while Kong Hee and others follow court procedures. Kong Hee looks up to Pringle and his prophetic words. It was because Pringle ‘prophesied’ to Kong that he would own the SunTec City in 1997 that influenced Kong Hee and CHC to make the move.

If the charges against Kong Hee are true and he gets the unfortunate life sentence, this means Phil Pringle gave a false prophecy in regards to Kong Hee having SunTec City. Pringle in the past has used Kong Hee and the SunTec ‘prophecy’ as evidence to demonstrate that he is a legitimate prophet of God. This article offers a good example of this.

PRINGLE DEFINING ‘FAVOUR’

Before reading Phil Pringle’s sermon ‘Favor’, we need to let Pringle define what ‘Favor’ actually means:

“This is the grace (unmerited favor) of God – if you are in Christ, you have fulfilled ALL God’s requirements to bless you.” – Phil Pringle, http://philpringle.com/2009/11/01/blessed-not-cursed/, 01/11/09.

The C3 Connect Notes ‘Favour – Ps Phil Pringle‘, were published around the time Phil Pringle gave this sermon. It is from these connect notes Phil Pringle based his sermon on (which we will publish soon):

“God’s favour and God’s grace are interchangeable.” – Phil Pringle, Connect Group Notes: Favour – Ps Phil Pringle, 02/05/2010.

So favour = grace. Keep this at the forefront of your mind!

OVERVIEW OF SERMON

In 2010, this sermon had:

1. Pringle parade himself as a prophet, using Kong Hee’s recent purchase of SunTec City to demonstrate his prophetic ability. This was so members could embrace his ‘prophetic’ office and his ‘prophetic mesage’.

2. Pringle conditioned the unmerited favour/grace of God to people’s works.

3. Pringle conditioned the unmerited favour/grace of God by teaching “the day the set time of favour” is coming. (Everyday we are already IN God’s unmerited favour/grace so we can be assured of our salvation in Him.)

4. Pringle prophesied financial breakthrough’s over people who suffered through the global GFC.

5. Pringle mangles many scriptures and operates within a financial and Gnostic framework. (We shall look at these scriptures in another post.)

6. Pringle preached a false and dangerous Jesus towards the end.

KEY SNIPPETS FROM THE SERMON

Here are key snippets from the sermon. Please listen to the audio of sermon. If there are typos or if you believe anything is out of context, please contact us at c3churchwatch@hotmail.com. We will fix the comments as best we can.

“I want you to come with me to Psalm 102. Psalm 102. This message is – it has teaching in it– but more than anything this is what I would call, ‘message of a prophet’; a prophetic message. A message for a time. A message that wasn’t for January- Isn’t for August- It’s for now- Today.

God has something to say to us today. I’m not good at a lot of things but I’m not bad at getting the timing of the Word of the Lord right. You heard Kong Hee tell you I prophesied over him about five times that he would have Suntek City. He always dismissed it cos it’s an icon of Singapore. It’s in the main. It’s right in the middle. In the heart of the city. And just four weeks ago he signed to purchase that at a price of $310, 000 000. Amen! [Applause] Ahaha! These things come to pass. Ok. So I’m just saying that to ya. And if I get a word, it’s because it’s- and I say this, you know it’s not because I’m trying to bolster the word or anything like that. I don’t need to do that, I’m just letting you know the nature of this message is that, this is something that is a ‘Now!’ word for you and me.

So in Psalm 102:13 it says “You will arise, and have mercy on Zion”. Zion is the church. In the Old Testament it was the hill of the Jebusites inhabited. They were a Philistine/ Canaanite tribe who felt their position was impregnable. However, David and his men conquered Jebus, Mt Jebus, and renamed it Zion where he built the palace and he built the temple and it became known as the City of David. And in the New Testament, Zion is the church.

So it’s interchangeable. “You’ll arise and have mercy on the church, for the time to favour her-” everybody say ‘for the time to favour her’. [Audience: Time to favour her] The SET time! Yes the set time [Audience: The set time] has come! [Audience: has come!]” – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289, iTunes: (00:27), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.

“Favour is what you prioritise. What you favour; what you distinguish as going to receive higher attention, higher value then anything else. And so when God says, “I’m going to favour you”, He says, “I’m going to distinguish you as somebody that’s going to be getting more attention and blessing on their life then others”. That’s what favour is.” – Phil Pringle, iTunes: (04:19), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.

“This is the time we are living in when the church will be built like it never has been before. There is approximately one billion- one billion Spirit-filled people in the world today. It’s about eight hundred to nine hundred million. It is astonishing and it is growing and increasing all around the world in spite of all kind of setbacks and things that happen along the way. It just keeps on growing.” – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289, iTunes: (05:36), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.

“We are living in the time the last days where the church will rise to become the chief of all the mountains – all the organisations around the world. You are in the power – the most powerful place that you can possibly be in all the earth. Right here in the house of God you’re gonna find yourself under favour and under blessing because of the set time has come, but on a more focused level right here now in this church. I believe it is the time, a set time of favour, is gonna come upon your life.” – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289, iTunes: (06:26), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.

“What happens when you get favour on your life? You’re going to get some enemies! You’re going to get some enemies on you…” – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289, iTunes: (09:58), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.

“If you don’t want to get blessed for your sake then go ahead then just- just- then at least for His sake! Amen! For His glory! For the honour of God, let’s get a little expansive and ruin all those damaging poverty mindsets that have tumbled along with religion for so long and try to somehow make pious and sanctify some lives that are lacking in resources and lacking in abilities and lacking in all kinds of ways, and to put this word ‘success’ back into ‘The lord was with Him’. “And therefore he enjoyed blessing and favour on his life.”

And I know that crinkles some of us! But let it crinkle you! [Pastors cheer] Let it change your mind here this morning. So do you mind to open up a little and say, “You know what? Maybe that is the very reason why blessing isn’t flowing, cos I got the handbrake on in this concept. I got some allegiance to a traditional mindset to a religious concept and I’m just holding back”. Let it go! Here today and say, “You know what? I’m gonna get set free by the Word of God here today and start seeing this Word in a totally different light [crowd applauds] so that blessing and favour can come upon me”.

Don’t be worried what other people think…” – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289, iTunes: (16:00), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.

“Why does favour come on our lives? Well number one reason I believe is because you got a great attitude. While I was on the way hear this morning, I was thinking about this thing, “I gotta write a book about ten great elements of a great attitude or something like that”, because sometimes we say [clicks finger] “Have on a good attitude!”, but we don’t know what that is. It’s the ability to forgive people; it’s a thankful heart; it’s worship; it’s a whole bunch of things that I won’t go into right now BUT- When you have a great attitude on you, in spite of the challenges coming against you, you’ll find favour continues to live on your life.” – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289, iTunes: (18:33), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.

“But let me tell you this also: When our hearts are pure, you can see God.” – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289, iTunes: (20:39), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.

“You better get yourself ready for the day the set time of favour, when it’s coming upon you.” – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289, iTunes: (22:42), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.
“Favour on us is a crown on our head. It’s the ability to rule. It’s the glory of God rested on your life in any given circumstance. [Long pause] The way that this crown comes upon you is when you have gone through a trial and you’ve found your whole world getting shaken, but you’ve stayed strong.” – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289,iTunes: (24:18), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.
“We have seen a shaking in the financial world over the last two years. The global financial crisis of shaking. Many of you have found yourselves getting shaken in the middle of all this. Some of you your spiritual life- the heavens in your world have been shaken. You wondered where God is. You wondered how it’s all going to work out. Some of you wondered whether or not you would still favour the House of God above others. And those of you who have are gonna find yourself in the time of favour right now. That will exceed any kind of blessing that you’ve ever had in your life before. I believe that the time ahead for our church here and for our movement around the world, right now [whacks hands together] a HUGE door of opportunity and blessing are about to open upon us. Simply because there have been times of shaking. And God shakes things so that what even shakes His church (He shakes His kingdom; He shakes His people; He shakes His servants), because what CAN be shaken He doesn’t want to build on. If it can be shaken it will get shaken out. But what can’t get shaken can only get stronger through the shaking. It puts its roots down deeper. It toughens up and says, “You know what? I’m not going anywhere! Amen! I’m planted in the work of God. I am planted in the House of God. I’m planted in the temple”. And some of you have been through the worst shakings of your entire life.

Well I’ve got good news for you: The set time [crowd cheers] to favour you  has COME! [applause] The blessing of God is going to break through in your life in very real, in very actual, in very physical circumstances [crowd still applauding]. And I believe that if you endure temptation, the trial, the test, that’s the meaning of that word. Means temptation, trial, test. It’s like an examination…

Then it says “Once you are approved”, God looks at us as we travel through the shaking. Once you are approved, you get this crown of life on you. In the middle of that Haggai scripture he says this amazing thing. He says, “I’m shaking everything so that everybody will come to Christ, the Desire of All Nations”. And then He says, “The silver is mine and the gold is mine”, right in the middle of this. He’s talking about shaking!

What’s this for? He’s referring. He’s referring to financial shaking. That’s why He’s saying- listen: “The silver in the earth is mine and the gold in the earth is mine. It is no problem for me to get a hold of it no matter who’s name is on it right now, and put it into your hands.”

And part of the favour you’ll experience in your life is God shifting blessing over into your hands. I mean there are some unusual scriptures! One of them says “The wealth of the unrighteous is laid up for the righteous”. It’s incredible!” – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289, iTunes: (25:22-28:10), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.

Phil Pringle teaches dangerously on Gnosticism. Is this the Jesus of the bible? Is Jesus incapable of performing miracles? Did he earn God’s favour? Did he earn a crown to perform miracles? Was the devil in the head and heart of Jesus? Did Jesus earn and We encourage you to listen to the audio on this. We believe this is incredibly dangerous doctrine to embrace:

“Let me just talk to you about this enduring temptation. Because I believe it is a lot more specific than a general principle. It says ‘They will receive a crown’.  And I was thinking about this and I thought about Jesus, when he got tempted. And I thought ‘You know what? He was tempted to turn stones into bread… but he resisted.’ He said “No I’m not gonna – I’m tempted to, to prove that I am the Son of God. Just imagine if I just go out there and try make some bread and it doesn’t work. Just, just give myself a little assurance… on the side.” He was tempted to do this on the basis of an ‘if’. He knew it was a wrong motivation so he was just – but it must have been hard! Must have been long! But I believe once He came out of that, he got a crown on His head to work miracles. Cos more than once in the New Testament he makes bread… supernaturally!

He laid down that temptation and he comes out with a gift of miracles that walks on water and multiplies bread…

The second temptation he had was to throw Him self off the pinnacle of the temple. Now I don’t know how he got there. He must’ve crawled up there –the temptation driving him so bad.

“I just wanna see if God will look after me.”

And so he’s up there – It’s not like there’s a devil out here. It’s in His head and in His heart He was thinking ‘Just to make sure…’. He’s up on the pinnacle of the temple thinking “I’m going to throw myself down”, but he resisted. He pull’s out and says ‘No. I’m gonna- I’m gonna trust God’. Right then he got the Crown of Resurrection on Him, cos eventually he lays his life down and He’s raised from the dead.

And out of the resurrection comes every other miracle. If you can raise a whole body from the dead, you can heal a blind eye, you can open a deaf ear, you can make broken limbs walk again.

And the final temptation was to bow down to the devil and he said he would give him what? All the kingdoms of the world! So He resisted that as well. It was a feeling inside of him, a temptation to do this. But he pulled out of that. After the resurrection he ascends and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God and He’s got the crown on His head that all the kingdoms of the entire world are put into his hand. He got all those things that the devil was trying to make Him do. It might have been a right result, but it was going about it the wrong way – which is always a temptation of the devil.

So whenever you are going through a trial there is a purpose in it. God wants to put a crown on your head at the end of a trial. And it’s a crown of favour so that whatever you put your hand to, you’re going to find blessing comes through you. How is it that you look at some people and it works and you do exactly the same and it doesn’t work? Something’s on their head. Some kind of crown. Some kind of authority. Some kind of ruler-ship in this life.

Abraham went up to Mt Moriah and God said “Put him through a test”. He said “I want you to give me your son, your only beloved son”- he waited a hundred years for. He was a miracle child! And he’s prepared to do it. He goes almost all the way. And God only- It was only God who stopped him. He pulled through that test and he became the father. He got the crown of nations on him that day. Not just one child back but a family; a nation. And not just one nation but MANY nations. We’re even called the children of Abraham today cos of one act of sacrifice. One act of surviving a temptation of trial.

Moses. His temptation was to- was to stay in the courts of Pharoah or else become associated with the Hebrews: the slaves. He so wanted to stay in the comfort, in the riches, in all the power of the glory of the court of Pharoah. But he resisted that. And he went out there. And he got on him a crown of leadership. Forty years later he becomes the king of the nation of Israel. He becomes the founder of the nation through whom the Saviour of the world would come. He delivers the Law from the mountain, inscribed with the finger of God. This man got a crown on his head because he survived a temptation- Whatever trials you have been travelling through, there’s going to come an end. There comes an end to a trial. It’s over in Jesus name. [Pastors start getting excited] You’re gonna come to the end and as you come to the end you come out of it approved by God and he puts a crown on your head and says: “Today I am going to give you authority. I’m going to give you favour and I’m going to give you glory. In all these circumstances that you have managed [Audience applause] to be victorious in, you’re going to find the favour of God- the crown of heaven, living on your head, in Jesus name!

And do you know the amazing thing is, after Jesus survived all of these amazing temptations, it says in Revelations 19:12, “On His head were many crowns”. He rules in so many dimensions. And even on your head there might be more than one crown after you go through one trial after another. But this is what I believe: the set time to favour you; to put a crown on your head; to bring you out of the trial as somebody’s approved and who can now put their hand on circumstances and see blessing and favour run wild through your life- that time is right now in Jesus’ mighty name. And everybody said! Amen! … Thank Him! Jesus in this hour!”  – Phil Pringle, http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/favor/id129622905?i=83970289, iTunes: (29:23-35:07), C3 Oxford Falls, 6pm Sermon: ‘Favour’, Released 10/06/10.

PRINGLES PREACH ON PRINCIPLES

On the 12th of February 2012, Pringle spoke at every service at C3 Sand Diego in the US. In the morning service Pingle said,

“So here’s the fascinating thing, we can understand the principle of how God does things. And often our hearts want to act independently of God using a principle of God.  And the difference between discovering principles that can be put in any motivational book, any sort of metaphysical book like ‘The Secret’ or ‘Understanding the Universe’, (you know these kind of references that have no references to the Lord but understand principles). Now there’s a principle of seed…” – Phil Pringle, God Creates With Words: 8:54, http://media.cccsandiego.com/Media/02%2012%2012%20AM.mp3, 12/02/12.

The continual push in this sermon was, “you’re involved with a person, not just a principle, living this Christian life is a whole lot different” (19:33). Sounds good right?

In one of the meetings on the 12th of February, Pringle starts promoting a book that opposes his morning message. Watch Pringle here market himself and promote his books:

http://vimeo.com/37288145

At 3:30, Pringle starts promoting his books. At 5:24 you see one of his books, ‘Faith’. This article will be examining this book. Pringle’s book ‘Faith’ encourages C3 Sandiego to do the exact opposite Pringle tells people to do.

ASK, BELIEVE, RECEIVE & FINALLY DECEIVE

To demonstrate how occult-driven Pringle’s teachings are, it is good to look at his works in comparison to modern-day New Age or New Thought material. We will compare Pringle’s book ‘Faith’ to a popular book called ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne, since he bought it up.

New Thought places great emphasis on what Byrne teaches as the ‘Law of Attraction’. Byrne also calls the ‘Law of the Attraction’ a genie, This principle has gained much popularity with  Ronda Byrne’s book ‘The Secret’, as Pringle mentioned. The principles discussed in the pages of Byrne’s book are straight out of New Thought. Pringle made the claim “these kind of things that have no references to the Lord but understand principles”. Really Pringle?

On page 47, Rhonda Byrne writes,

“The Creative Process used in The Secret, which was taken from the New Testament in the Bible, is an easy guideline for you to create what you want in three simple steps. Step 1: Ask… Step 2: Believe… Step 3: Receive…” – Rhonda Byrne, The Secret, 2006, pg. 47-51.

This creative process in ‘The Secret’ was based on this bible verse:

“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (Matthew 21:22)

‘The Secret’ emphasises very similar principles that Pringle does. This is the table of contents of Phil Pringle’s book ‘Faith’ (2001):

“Contents
INTRODUCTION
1. Faith Is A Feeling
2. Foundation Faith
3. Faith and Prayer
– Desire
– Decide
– Ask
– Receive
– Speak it
– Seem it
– Act it
4. Faith and Conscience
5. Faith and Self-Image
6. Faith and Provision
7. Trial of Faith
8. The Fight of Faith” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001.

Pringle says, “There are seven clear steps to answered prayer. Step one – desire… Step two – decide… Step three – ask… Step four – receive… Step five – speak it… Step six – see it dreams and visions… Step seven – act it.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 36-106.

In his revisited 2003 edition, even one of Pringle’s own church members reviewed his book. Clearly he taught them the practices of the New Age movement. (See thumb nail below or follow the link to read: http://www.amazon.com/Faith-Dr-Phil-Pringle/dp/0958582785.)

POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE

Rhonda Byrne teaches,

“One of the most powerful uses of gratitude can be incorporated in the Creative Process to turbo-charge what you want.” – Rhonda Byrne, The Secret, 2006, pg. 80.

“I stayed focused and held to the outcome. I felt deep feelings of gratitude in advance. As that became my state of being, the floodgates opened and all the magic flowed into our lives.” – Rhonda Byrne, The Secret, 2006, pg. 80.

This is the classic Positive Mental Attitude that Pringle also associates with the ‘faith’ he teaches. Pringle boldly teaches,

“In the new Testament, Paul’s lifestyle left people on the sideline everywhere. It seems that the man had boundless energy, undeterred purpose and an attitude of pure drive that would send today’s most ardent PMA (positive mental attitude) experts to distraction! … He saw every circumstance through the attitude of faith. He had a feeling within him. He felt that he could not be conquered. He knew His God to be the truth. He made sure that his emotions and mentallity agreed with God’s Word. He would bring his attitudes and emotions into a reflection of what God was saying, no matter what the circumstance.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 23.”  – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 23.

Pringle then tries to justify his view on PMA and faith,

“I’m not talking here about some aneamic substitute for faith called ‘positive thinking’. That may be one of the fruits of faith, but understand clearly that it is not faith itself. Faith begins with an attitude, a spirit within us, a feeling of incredible confidence. A feeling of undefeatable victory over all the circumstances. This feeling makes impossible mountains appear like miniature hills. It makes you feel on top and not underneath.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 25-26.

POWER OF FOCUS, ATTRACTION, RECEPTION & DESIRE

Rhonda Byrne teaches,

“Even though his words were saying he wanted to date more women, his innermost thoughts did not reflect that in his paintings. By deliberately choosing to change his actions, it caused him to focus his entire thought on what he wanted. With such a simple shift, he was able to paint his life and call it into exist- ence through the law of attraction.

When you want to attract something into your life, make sure your actions don’t contradict your desires. Think about what you have asked for, and make sure that your actions are mirroring what you expect to receive, and that they’re not contradicting what you‘ve asked for. Act as if you are receiving it. Do exactly what you would do if you were receiving it today, and take actions in your life to reflect that powerful expectation. Make room to receive your desires, and as you do, you are sending out that powerful signal of expectation.” – Rhonda Byrne, The Secret, 2006, pg 115.

Pringle teaches,

“Let’s remember that faith involves the heart as well as the mouth. When people grasp the importance of possibilities of “speaking it” they may become excited about the possibilities of confession and ignore the fact that it needs to be a faith of the heart. This just leaves them with just a lot of positive statements and not necessarily a real faith… When our hearts believe one thing and our mouths are saying another we are deluding ourselves and lying to others.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 72-73.

“If a man knows what he wants, then he is in a position to decide that he will get it. This is faith. The determined decision of a man with desire.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 43.

“The promises of God become the power of God when they are believed and acted upon.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 149.

“The main point here is that we are to desire something before faith can come into play. Our desires are of value to God. It’s His will to fulfill our dreams. When we are delighting in the Lord, our dreams and desires are formed in His Spirit, timing and purpose.” – Phil Pringle Faith, 2001, pg 39.

What’s the difference? Forget God. Pringle teaches on the powers of his principles of faith that don’t require God at all.

POWER OF VISION

‘The Secret’ says on vision:

“I always say, when the voice and the vision on the inside become more profound, clear, and loud than the opinions on the outside, you ‘ve mastered your life!” – Rhonda Byrne, The Secret, 2006, pg 146.

Pringle teaches on vision:

“To perceive is to see. The kind of vision and perception we are talking about is of the mind. A faith vision is an incredibly powerful creative force… This also relates to the realm of impossibility – a thing you can’t see ever happening because of the impossibility of it. Experience can tell you that it doesn’t happen. The Knowledge tells you that it can” happen. The facts tell you it wont happen. Yet your faith tells you that it’s a reality. It will happen. You can see it happening, against all the odds. You need faith for what you cannot see, not for what you can see.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 99-100.

POWER OF VISUALISATION

Finally, Ronda Byrne also teaches on visualisation:

“Visualization is the process of creating pictures in your mind of yourself enjoying what you want. When you visualize, you generate powerful thoughts and feelings of having it now. The law of attraction then returns that reality to you, just as you saw it in your mind.” – Rhonda Byrne, The Secret, 2006, pg 93.

Pringle also teaches on visualisation (watch how he approaches scriptures with his experiences):

“A long after that experience, I looked back and realized that many of the elements I had seem in the imaginations in my mind were a duplicate of what actually happened. I had stumbled on to a principle of God. As I investigated the Scriptures, it became obvious to me that God spoke to His servants from the beginning of time through visions and dreams. Here we’re looking at the vision of faith. As soon as a real faith for anything arrives in your heart, you will see that thing.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 94-97.

“In Ephesians 3:20 Paul says that “God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” The Greek word for “think” here is “no’eo.” This literally means “to conceive and perceive.” Once we are visualizing some-thing, God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above it.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 103.

“Gods movies. There is a screen within our mind upon which three projectors are jostling for prime time… He [God] has a projector with a preset, wonderful destiny as the main feature. As we enter the Spirit through praise and worship, God will form His vision within our thinking. We pray the prayer of faith. The vision of the answer comes to mind and we see it, in living colour… Once the vision of the fulfillment of your dream has been planted in your mind, bring it to your prayer life. Each time you pray bring the picture to mind and meditate on it. See it happening. Destroy all the images of failure. Replace them with the image of success.

Right now in my life I spend much time dreaming over my visions of faith. I know this works. I would be a fool to ignore it. Remember, one of the mightiest keys in the Kingdom of Heaven is faith. Vision is a major part of faith, for we walk by faith and not by sight. Faith is directly contrasted to natural eye sight.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 103.

WHY PRINGLE IS WORSE THAN BYRNE

It should be apparent by now. Pringle does not know the difference between putting confidence in the sinful flesh and putting faith in Jesus alone. What’s worse, Pringle’s teachings are more extreme than Byrne’s. Pringle is teaching the metaphysical cult teachings of New Thought (which is linked to occultism).

“Faith knows it’s there [the object of your desires] because it has the substance of the experience, or the thing, in itself. Faith is a substance of a “thing” it feels the “thing” existing within the heart right now. Because it exists inside me I know that it exists. Somehow my faith has rebelled against normal time restrictions, travelled out into the future, plugged into this thing and translated the substance of it back to me here in the now.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 55.

He also blatantly LIES with his handling of Hebrews 11:1. There is no amplified bible that translates Hebrews 11:1 the way he says it does.

“We believe that we have the answer to our prayer before our five senses tell us so. The Amplified Bible interprets Hebrews 11:1 as “Faith perceives as a reality what is not revealed to the five senses.”

Faith is like an additional sense. A spiritual sense… Thus we walk by faith, that is, an inner substance, an inner reality that cannot be seen by anyone else. The conclusion is that we don’t wait until we receive a thing before we believe that we have it. We get it before we get it.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 56.

PRINGLE’S PREPOSTEROUS PROSPERITY PRINCIPLES

Pringle simply is not putting a relationship with God first. As we see, he is not preaching anything from the bible that promotes the truths of God. Instead he is teaching lies to Christians to dabble in deism, (the metaphysical world view that the universe is governed by impersonal, spiritual laws rather than a personal, sovereign God).

“When this principle first began operating in my life I had never heard anyone so much mention the idea of receiving a thing before receiving it. If they had, I may have written them off as having had too much pizza the night before! It sounds strange to the natural man. But that’s always the way with the laws of God. They are indecipherable to the natural man. In Isaiah 55 God declares His “ways are not our ways”. He says that His ways are “higher” than our ways. Like the difference between heaven and earth, flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s Kingdom. It’s a spiritual Kingdom. It runs on spiritual principles. We must understand these principles and operate within them if we are ever to do anything of eternal value for God. Trying to build a spiritual Kingdom by means of the flesh is a sure recipe for burn-out and failure.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 58.

Because of his approach to his understanding of faith being prosperous, he can’t separate his more serious damaging teaching.

“When Paul told the Philippians that God would supply all their need… their generosity would trigger one of the most powerful spiritual laws in existence. It is the law that the widow of Zarephath discovered when Elijah told her to give away her last meal… For the provision of God constantly to be at work in our lives we must activate the laws of God.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 153.

These are the giving laws recognised in the Word of Faith Movement such as the ‘tithe’ and ‘seed faith’ heresies. Believers are taught to obey these so they may be graced or favoured with the Gods miracles. This is salvation by works. As a result, Pringle curses Christians by the very ‘faith’ he says we must live by.

“This especially applies in the world of tithing. Tithing in one sense is not actually giving. The tithe belongs to God, not to us. Malachi the prophet says that when we keep the tithe we are actually “robbing God”.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 155.

“When we withhold the tithe we bring upon ourselves a curse.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 156.

“Thirdly, WHEN we sow determines when we will reap. We need to sow well before we plan to reap. The time to sow is not when you have a need. You are to be constantly sowing your world with generous actions of faith. Oral Roberts has called this “seed faith”. Anyone who plants a seed has faith that it will become a plant in time. We all realize that it’s not going to happen overnight, but faith and patience inherit the promises of God.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 156-157.

CONCLUSION

As a result in dabbling between both the Christian and occult camps, he continually speaks with two tongues and condemns himself and others.

“The words we speak contain great power. However, it is important that we focus on the positive aspect of the power of the tongue rather than the negative… When we ignore the spirit of Scripture we reduce truth to formulae, empty ceremonies and at worst, superstitions. The Word of God is extremely powerful and must be “handled accurately”(2 Timothy 2:15).” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 70-72.

“Again we see the correlation between the heart and the mouth. The heart must be in harmony with the mouth and the mouth with the heart. Saying the right words is not like some magical formula that will make a thing happen. A positive confession is not like saying “Abracadabra, Open Sesame”. This thinking has the disastrous effect in the reverse.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 74.

“Faith is lifeless unless you act on it. T.L. Osbourne says: “When the promises of God are believed and acted upon they become the power of God”. We can do all the things we have previously talked about about: desire, decision, prayer, speaking faith, seeing the answer, but if we don’t act our faith it is all to no avail.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg

“The “fearful” are at the top of the list of those who are thrown into the lake of fire.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 108.

This is a pitiful faith that hopefully, no Christian should ever want. This is faith by works and laws. This is not faith. This is confidence in the flesh. As Paul says about true Christianity,

“… We are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh…” Philipians 3:3

If you feel lead to pray for the spiritual state of Phil Pringle and the C3 Movement please do so. No Christian should have to put with this kind of false teaching. No one should be bound by it.

EDIT: Not looking at his book faith, also compare the following teachings between Phil Pringle & Ronda Byrne:

Both teach that the writers of the bible were exceedingly wealthy,

“If you have been brought up to beheve that being wealthy is not
spiritual, then I highly recommend you read The Millionaires of
the Bible Series by Catherine Ponder. In these glorious books you
will discover that Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, and Jesus
were not only prosperity teachers, but also millionaires them-
selves, with more affluent lifestyles than many present-day mil-
lionaires could conceive of.” – Ronda Byrne, The Secret, 2006, pg. 109.

“And you need to understand. The bible, (this is kind of a shocking thought for some people), it’s been written by some of the wealthiest people in history. If you got Bill Gates to write a chapter, Warren Buffett to write a chapter, the telecommunications guy in Mexico  (I forgotten his name) to write a chapter, (the three richest men in the world), that’s what the bible is! It’s these unbelievably, extraordinary, successful people who’ve written this book and said, ‘Do these kind of things and life’s going to work for you’.” – Phil Pringle, Financial Excellence AM, 8:15, 22/05/2011.

Both encourage self talk,

And so immediately after you say, “I am tired” or “I am broke” or “I am sick” or “I am late” or “I am overweight” or “I am old,” the Genie says, “Your wish is my command.” Knowing this, wouldn’t it be a good idea to begin to use the two most powerful words, / AM, to your advantage? How about, “I AM receiving every good thing. I AM happy I AM abundant. I AM healthy. I AM love. I AM always on time. I AM eternal youth. I AM filled with energy every single day.” – Ronda Byrne, The Secret, 2006, pg. 168.

“Self talk has become fashionable in many circles of people attempting to improve themselves in any number of areas of their lives. It’s truth that has been in God’s Word for thousands of years. We should develop a set of statements that we regularly speak to ourselves. This creates a faith about who we are and what we can achieve. Here are some examples.

I like my life. I love my job… I’m a happy person. I’m a peaceful person… I speak the right kind of words. Inside the sun is shining everyday. I find solutions to problems. I find answers to questions. I find what I’m looking for. Doors open to me. My mind is healthy. My emotions are stable. I’m happy with the way I look… I love serving God. I’m a creative person. I’m a fit person. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I’m glad about my past. All things are working together for good in my life.” – Phil Pringle, Faith, 2001, pg 94-97.

Phil Pringle has often tried to dis-associate himself from the prosperity movement. Many people see Phil Pringle and his C3 Movement to be of the Word of Faith and Prosperity movement.

However, Pentecostalism and Word of Faith/Prosperity Movement are two different things. Many in the Pentecostal movement have embraced the teachings in the Prosperity Movement. Ph.D Professor of Bible and Theology John Wyckoff defines Pentecostalism as follows,

“… the twentieth-century Pentecostal movement has succeeded in restoring the experiential dimension of the Spirit’s dynamic presence to a significant segment of the church. Pentecostals believe that recovery of the doctrine and experience of being baptized in the Holy Spirit is comparable to the Reformation’s recovery of the doctrine of justification by faith.”1

With this in mind, this article points out Phil Pringle is a prosperity teacher and that his movement is part of the prosperity movement.

Prosperity doctrine: What Pentecostals believe

‘Prosperity doctrine’, ‘positive confession theology’, ‘faith-formula theology’. These are some of the terms used to describe a relatively new system of theology that has emerged from the Word of Faith movement, also called the Faith movement or the Word movement, that began in the nineteenth century and after its rise in the twentieth century has reached wide-spread influence within the Pentecostal movement and beyond. Prosperity theology is also strongly associated with the Divine Healing movement.
Current proponents of this movement in America include Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Charles Capps and Frederick Price. Prosperity doctrine is based upon a belief in the unified power of faith and the tongue. Faith is a confession; faith speaks (“I believed, therefore I have spoken.”) Also, words spoken in faith come to pass. According to this view, we create reality, whether good or bad, with the words of our mouths. Fear is negative faith. It is confidence in the certainty of a negative outcome. ‘What I confess, I possess’ is the view sometimes referred to as ‘now faith.’

Accordingly, there is available for the Christian supernatural blessing for their complete prosperity. ‘Prosperity’ is broad, encompassing all of life, including blessing mentally, physically, financially and socially. And it is immediately available for all Christians who follow the ‘laws of prosperity’ outlined in God’s Word, the Bible. This view also stems from a belief that a Christian’s inward and spiritual transformation will naturally result in an outward working that takes effect in every area of life. God’s blessing for Christians who lay hold of it is victory and overcoming in every sphere.

Generosity is encouraged as a key to financial prosperity, however such giving must be faith-filled to have a positive effect. The essential law of prosperity is the power that resides in the spoken word which will always precede from faith. Prosperity leaders and teachers would urge, ‘don’t pray the problem; speak the solution.’ ‘If you honour God, he will honour you’, in your business, your body, your exams. God’s goal for every Christian is success and abundance in all its forms.

The logical endpoint of this doctrine is what some Pentecostals insist: God’s ultimate goal for Christians is constant health, wealth and happiness. Where they fail to achieve this divine healing is a matter of expectation. However, God’s desire for Christians is that they do not suffer at all. This teaching insists that it is never God’s will for physical disorder or discomfort for any of his children, ever. For them, suffering occurs for Christians because of personal sin, even involving a simple lack of faith in God’s will to protect them from harm.

In Australia the growth of the prosperity movement, particularly within Pentecostalism, is largely attributed to the influence of the movement in America. Key leaders within Australian Pentecostalism have embraced the prosperity message in recent times, such as Brian Houston, who wrote You need more money (1999), urging readers to discover God’s “amazing financial plan” for their lives. Phil Pringle, another Pentecostal leader who is a key proponent of the prosperity gospel, wrote Keys to Financial Excellence, explaining how Christians could achieve financial success and freedom for themselves through the Biblical principles of prosperity.

What are the origins of the Prosperity doctrine? How far do the roots of Positive Confession theology go back and how has the Word of Faith movement developed over time to result in the current emphasis on abundant and prosperous living within Pentecostalism? This will be the topic of articles coming up.
