Ponzi Pastor Playing Pea-and-Thimble with Building Fund Proceeds?

Supporters of Kong Hee, (who is on trial with five of his colleagues on various charges pertaining to the alleged siphoning off of funds from CHC in Singapore), have long been maintaining that CHC suffered no financial loss, since bonds purchased from the company “Xtron” were fully redeemed.

Phil Pringle CHC Kong Hee Cover up

This naturally raises the question:

“From where, exactly, did Xtron obtain the funds to repay CHC, since Sun Ho’s foray into the music industry was a complete flop and her album was never released?”

The answer to this conundrum has been revealed in a post on the CHC confessions Facebook page, wherein a recent post had this to say:

“One of the mysteries of the trial is the accused insistence that CHC did not suffer any loss through all the sham bonds. Now the mystery is finally solved in City News’s own report:

http://www.citynews.sg/2015/04/city-harvest-trial-arla-and-sof-investments-not-sham-maintains-tan/

“Although Xtron had used part of the ARLA to buy up the bonds, Tan explained that it was still obligated to provide the corresponding value for which CHC had paid, which in this case was the use of venue for a pre-agreed length of time. Xtron, on its part, would service this obligation with the expected revenue that was to come from the US album sales.

In essence, AMAC and Xtron were legally bound to compensate CHC for what it had paid.”

But since there is [sic] no US album sales, Xtron won’t have the revenue to service the obligation and [at] some point in time CHC will either have to forgive the obligation or force Xtron into bankruptcy – [in] either case the money is gone.

The same with the SOF with AMAC. The money is gone. CHC can sue AMAC but it is not likely that it will ever recover the money.

So it is not true that CHC has not suffered any loss – it is just that they are kicking the can down the road and sooner or later will have to pay the piper.”

So what has apparently transpired is that since Xtron was unable to repay CHC, those whose scheme had been discovered – and who were desperate to clear the bonds off the books – resorted to an accounting thimblerig.

They simply shoveled more of CHC’s money into Xtron, a portion of which funds Xtron promptly returned to CHC as a repayment of the bonds, including both capital and interest due. Thus the accused have allegedly paid themselves (that is, Xtron) money with which they have subsequently reimbursed themselves (that is, CHC) to falsely convey the impression that Xtron is a profitable business being run at arms-length from CHC, rather than a shell company whose sole purpose is to facilitate the defrauding of CHC members via sham transactions. This practice is known as “round-tripping”, and it is illegal. It is over this matter, among others, that some of the accused parties are now being quizzed in the Singaporean courts. Naturally enough, attempts were made to disguise the ruse: funds that were allegedly round-tripped were referred to by the acronym “ARLA”, which stands for “Advance Rental Licence Agreement” (CW’s take on that is that “A Really Lame Artifice” would have been far more apropos).

Of course, even a novice who knows nothing at all about such things as business or accounting would be able to understand that if a business spends buckets and buckets of money but fails to earn a profit, then a loss has been incurred and there will inevitably be financial pain as a result.

The salient question for C3 adherents is “Does Phil Pringle understand that?”

This is because if he does, one could be forgiven for wondering why he has continued to mindlessly repeat the “No money was lost” mantra when it has long been clear that although Sun Ho spent CHC’s money like water to live the high life in the U.S., she never showed a return to justify the so-called “investment”.

Maybe Phil really is unquestioningly gullible, and he actually believes that no money was lost. Perhaps he would prefer to refrain from inquiring too closely or pondering too deeply, given how uncomfortable the truth would be for him – after all, he is both mentor and friend to Kong Hee, and his own credibility and reputation are very much on the line here.

But supposing we all give Phil the benefit of the doubt, what about the fact that he is supposedly a man of God who has a hot-line to the Most High? Why wouldn’t God have given Phil a “word” regarding the facts surrounding this tawdry affair? How is it that God is allowing his golden-haired apostle to back himself into the tiniest of corners without giving him a heads-up, without even dropping so much as the smallest of hints? Has Phil Pringle become like King Saul? Has he really become estranged from the One whom he purports to represent, and on whose behalf he presumes to speak?

TO PHILIP A. PRINGLE

We know that you read the articles on this site, Phil, even though you have strictly forbidden your followers from doing so.

We also know from our reliable sources inside C3 that you have recently discussed a certain unrelated issue with your “leadership”, and that you explicitly told those same “leaders” that you were unable to broach the subject with the wider membership of your organisation – that the information you gave was for the “leaders’” edification only, and was not for general consumption.

Given that precedent, we would like to know this, Phil Pringle: how much do you really know about Kong Hee’s case?

Have the “leaders” in your movement been apprised of facts to which the tithing drones in the pews have not been made privy? Surely you wouldn’t behave in a deceptive manner, would you? After all, you have been referred to as “Australia’s Pope”; indeed, you yourself have invited people to see you as an angel, and you have even, in all humility, have told people to liken you to the Old Testament prophet Elijah.

It’s all very heady stuff, and quite compelling – there’s no way a man of your caliber, an exulted personage of unimpeachable integrity, would deliberately withhold pertinent information from your followers…. is there? (Particularly since some of those followers have been been inveigled into giving money to support Kong Hee’s legal battle).

If we’ve got the wrong end of the stick, please feel free to comment here and set us straight, Phil; we await your anointed explanation with great anticipation.

We wonder what Phil Pringle would make of this. He must be horrified that Kong Hee, his star pupil, has used his “anointing” for evil rather than good. Surely Phil Pringle didn’t pass on all his skills to Kong Hee with this outcome in mind.

It’s not like this is anything Phil Pringle would do, is it?

CHC Confessions writes,

KH, after 4 years where you went on stage to tell the congregation you look forward to telling your side of the story in court, this is what we found out from you so far:

1) You do not know the details
2) You are not aware of everyday on-goings
3) You relied on the advice of professionals
4) You are not schooled on bonds issues
5) You left it to your staff to handle and manage

It can be argued that the above are somewhat acceptable to a certain extent, given that CEOs and Heads of big organisations sees only the big picture and make strategic decisions. Let’s leave the nitpicking for another day.

However, what was shocking are the following:

A) Your wife DOES NOT KNOW how her Hollywood lifestyle is being funded. You said that although she was cc-ed in some email, she may not have seen it.

Comment: Really? You expect anyone (die-hard CHC fans notwithstanding) to believe that? Its like I’m suddenly put in the midst of high-life, high fashion, high society, and I can live for years without ever wondering how am I affording it? Either she is completely dumb and stupid, or you’re lying. Pick one. (Although I’m sure some readers will pick both.)

B) As an “artist” (apologies for the offence caused to real artists for using the same term), she’s getting paid by the church via royalties and bonuses.

Comment: Personal gain and self-gratification aside, it is common knowledge that the X number of years she spent in Hollywood amounted to absolutely nothing. Show your projected album sales to anyone who knows anything about the music industry, and the bunch of you will be thrown out of the door before you can say, “ABBA!”

Artists get paid via album sales, and they are also paid to attend events. The difference here is, your wife gets paid by the church, and she pays others to attend her event. Some kind of artist she is huh? Asian artists who made an impact in the USA are few and far in between (Coco Lee and Rain are 2 that comes to mind). Even with the immense success they had (relative to your wife), they couldn’t afford the lifestyle your wife enjoyed throughout the years. What makes anyone think she can? Now we know, straight from your mouth.

C) You DID NOT TITHE.

Comment: Its not clear whether you did not tithe at all, or stopped tithing after a certain events. What is clear though, is that when asked whether you tithe to the Building Fund, your answer was, “I tithe to the MPA”, which if we can be frank and call a spade a spade, is your personal account.

So for all the drama you’ve showcased onstage, all the challenges you thrown to the floor, all the bible verses quoted, asking people to downgrade their lives, sell their houses, give everything, make painful sacrifices, and all the evidence and testimonies of 30, 60, 100 fold rewards of tithing, you yourself, did not tithe. Instead, you bought yourself a nice house in Sentosa Cove.

For me, the rest of the trial is no longer relevant.

Rodyk & Davidson explain the CHC situation

CHC confessions recently provided it’s readers with the following information:

“In the Corporate Governance Workshops organized by SIAS on 13 Nov 2013, the speakers from Rodyk & Davidson presented the case of CHC.”

Source: CHC Confessions, CHC Confessions, https://www.facebook.com/CHCConfessions/posts/798553436830702, 16/05/2014. (Accessed 24/05/2014.)

They provided the link,

Rodyk & Davidson – CHC Presentation

CHC Confessions highlighted the following information within the article:

Findings from the COC’s Inquiry (Taken from Inquiry into the City Harvest Church, MCCY):

• Despite representations made to public and members, funds were used to fund the crossover Project; executive members were not told of the actual purpose of these funds
• Used to fund the Crossover Project under the guise of donations to its affiliated church in KL, and these were then transmitted by CHCKL to support the Crossover Project in the United States
• Donations and tithes to the charity were transferred into a private fund known as a “Multi Purpose Account” (MPA), and monies in the MPA were used to fund the Project
• Selected donors were asked to transfer their donations from the “Arise and Build” campaign to the MPA
• Apart from a few members the existence of the MPA was not made known to the charity’s members
• Attempt to conceal the existence of the MPA by closing the joint bank account and dealing only in cash transactions
• Disclosure of related party transactions
o Kong Hee’s company sold over S$3m worth of merchandise to the charity, and this was not disclosed
o Eventually Kong Hee ‘re-funded’ royalties to the charity arising from the sale of his merchandise, however these were later reimbursed to him from monies in the MPA and the CHCKL
• Board governance and control issues
o Appointment of Investment Manager was not properly tabled and discussed by the charity’s board
o When he suffered financial difficulties, donations were “re-funded” to him in two tranches, Board approval for one being received 9 months after the re-funds were made

Questions that arise

• Duties of intermediaries where there are complex structures to disguise the true substance of the transactions and monies
• Do intermediaries have adequate facts and information to give professional advice?
• Do donors insist that funds be used for specific purposes?
• Can donors change their minds? How can this be done?
o Under the Charities (IPC) Regulations, if donors specify a purpose for their donations, this must be followed

A CHC family break up

This other news is also from CHC Confessions. Just as we have reported how C3 causes serious damages to family break ups, CHC appears to be no different. Once again – the below events are marks of a cult.

I’m not Christian but my husband attends CHC.

We’ve had problems in our marriage for years and I’m finally filing for divorce. When I brought the matter up, my husband became angry and started threatening to make things difficult for me. One of his threats was that he would never give me a single cent of financial support (I only work part-time so I can take care of our child, so I don’t earn much in comparison to him).

My husband gives a five-figure sum to every Arise and Build or whatever CHC calls their fund-raising campaigns. But he won’t give any support to the mother of his child. He says he has no money.

I don’t understand. What kind of hold does this church have on its members, that they won’t try to save their marriages and they won’t support their spouses?

Here is another interesting story,

If you look through the various Facebook pages that proclaim support for Kong Hee and gang, you will find a lot of amens for posts that supposingly declare God’s support. You will find verses that proclaim ‘who can’t be against us when God is with us’ etc. However, you can never find a post that proclaims ‘God’s justice will be served’. NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING along that line.

It seems like members are scared to proclaim God’s justice. It seems like they would very much prefer their leaders to be found innocent then for God’s justice to prevail whatever the outcome may be. And this, I find extremely disturbing.

I am now an ex-member. Let me share 1 experience in my CG. Sitted in a circle, we were asked to pray for the leaders. As the prayers go around, there were the usual enthusiastic amens to each prayer. When it came to my turn, I simply said that let God’s justice come whatever it may be, and that if the leaders are innocent, let God’s justice prevail. If they are guilty, let God’s justice prevail.

As you might have guessed it by now. NOBODY in the group amen my prayer. My CG leader even quickly took over the prayer during that brief period of silence and continued her enthusiastic support prayer. I’ve since left CHC for other reasons and how glad I did.

To me, it is very clear that what those hard core CHC members want is not God’s justice. They have an outcome in mind, that their leaders walk free. And they are just selectively quoting God’s words to support their cause. Classic case of hearing only the good thing.

Lastly, the Straits Times Reports,

City Harvest Church trial resumes briefly for defence application

SINGAPORE – The City Harvest Church trial resumed briefly on Wednesday as one of the defence lawyers asked the court to refer two questions of law to the High Court.

But the Presiding Judge of the State Court, See Kee Oon, rejected the application.

The two questions were related to one of the accused, deputy senior pastor Tan Ye Peng. One question was whether, under the law, Tan could be considered to have had control of the church’s funds because he was a church board member, when the board had been collectively given control of the funds.

The second question was whether Tan’s status as a board member meant he had control of the funds in the way of his “business as an agent”. The charges against him can stand only if the answers to both questions are yes.

Lifestyle Of The Rich & The Shameless

In this article, we have CHC Confessors writing about what they’ve seen and learnt of their experience with Kong Hee, Sun Ho and the City Harvest Church scandal. In our first CHC Cofessors article, it is exposed that “$1,000,000 was distributed to Sun’s “Singaporean supporting crew” in USA as “hardship allowance”.” A CHC Confessor states in our second article,

“I was there in USA with her for some months. I saw the kind of extravagance and lifestyle that would put the prodigal son to shame. By saying this, I’m sure PK and Sun can guess my identity but it doesn’t matter now. If you are going to keep buying into his lies and the false promise of a Suntec “Home”, you are going to be very disappointed. And poorer too. Just use a simple litmus test – did this whole saga bring praise to Jesus… or shame?”

The reason why we are publishing these comments from CHC Confessions on C3 Church Watch is because these articles are very informative.

First CHC Confessor writes,

Kong Hee, Tan Ye Peng, and John Lam – Let’s look at how amateurish, audacious, opportunistic and crafty they are through the sagas of Galaxy Capital loan and Glory Capital loan.

I will not go into the details of the plundering of the $138,000,000 (approximate) Arise and Build Funds that led to the need to borrow $50,000,000 Galaxy Capital loan to purchase the additional 19.2% stake in Suntec in August 2012.

A brief background:

In March 2010, City Harvest Church announced a $310,000,000 “deal” to be a co-owner of Suntec Convention Center and to use part of the space (around 44%) for its religious services on weekends for 10 years.

City Harvest Church officials were tight-lipped on the details of the “deal”, citing a Non-Disclosure-Agreement (NDA) with the vendor, an Indonesian consortium who had just bought 80% of the Suntec Convention Center from ARA Asset Management, owner of the Suntec REIT.

Why is the deal shrouded in secrecy?

Unknown to the congregation, the “deal” only involved the purchase of a mere 20% stake of Suntec Convention Center for $43,800,000, valuing the property at $219,000,000.

The balance $266,200,000, which is more than the entire value of Suntec Convention Center, was for:

a) A 4 + 6 years deal to rent 44% of the space, of which the rental cost is around $15,000,000 each year.
(The projected return from the 20% stake was around $2,000,000+, giving a yield of 4+% each year.)

b) A hefty shifting budget.
During the first year in Suntec Convention Center, the shifting cost was around $15,000,000, cleverly broken into four parts to make it less conspicuous.

c) A one-off Audio-Visual equipment cost that was reported to be around $13,000,000.

d) A $5,500,000 rental deposit, minor renovations, and services for Audio Visual Installation.

At that time, the Arise and Build Fund had raised around $100,000,000 (approximate) but it was so depleted that a bridging loan (paying 9% interest rate) was even needed to pay for part of the $43,8000,000 purchase.

In August 2011, the Indonesian consortium decided to cash out with a hefty Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 64.8% or Equity Multiple of 2.2 times. To the Indonesian consortium, City Harvest Church was a Santa Claus as City Harvest Church is paying top dollars for rental and keeping the facilities 98% leased.

Suntec REIT, who already owns a 20% stake, was given the First Right of Refusal for the 60% stake put up for sale by the Indonesian consortium.

Suntec REIT shrewdly offered 19.2% of the stake to City Harvest Church at $54,000,000, just to give City Harvest Church a 49% minority stake in the vehicle that owned 80% of Suntec Convention Centre.

The Arise and Build Fund had raised around $123,000,000 (approximate) by 2011. But it was so depleted that City Harvest Church needed to borrow $50,000,000 to pay for the additional 19.2% stake at $54,000,000.

Why buy an additional 19.2% when there is no more fund while tithes and offerings were falling?

After the CAD’s raid in May 2010, Kong Hee and gang knew that they could not hide behind the NDA anymore.

There would be an uproar if the congregation knew that the “deal” dubbed “Our Promised Land” had only a 20% ownership costing only $43,800,000.

City Harvest Church is willing to pay $310,000,000 just to own a 20% stake in Suntec Convetion Center, and use 44% of the space for weekends only for10 years. The valuation of the property at the purchase price was only $219,000,000!

To make this deal that made no financial sense more palatable to the congregation, Kong Hee and gang gladly committed to buy the additional 19.2% stake at $54,000,000 when there was no fund left in the Arise and Build Fund.

Galaxy Capital Loan:

To raise the fund, Tan Ye Peng and John Lam went around to borrow from the banks but were unsuccessful.

It was not just the ongoing investigations that turned the bank off.

There were four tranches of outstanding “super-low-interest unsecured loans” given to AMAC Capital in the form of Special Opportunity Funds, amounting to $17,935,000, that spooked the banks.

These four tranches (Tranche 13, 14, 16, and 18) of unsecured “loans” were lent to AMAC Capital from November 2009 to May 2010, just prior to the CAD’s raid on 30 May 2010. These unsecured “loans” had been rolled over since August 2011.

In other words, these loans were already in default.
However, during the rounds with the banks, Tan Ye Peng and John Lam learnt something.

1) Front-end fee. This is a one-off and negotiable fee usually used by the banks to charge an additional 0.5-1.0% fee just to improve the margin.

2) Private Equity Fund will lend to a high-risk client like City Harvest Church for a hefty interest rate of 15% per annum, if the loan is fully secured by collateral.

When Tan Ye Peng managed to convince an ultra-high net worth church member, who is related to the Indonesian consortium, to help set up and arrange for Galaxy Capital to lend $50,000,000 to City Harvest Church at 10% per annum over three years, Kong Hee and gang saw an opportunity.

Knowing that the market rate is 15% as City Harvest Church was having such a bad publicity, Kong Hee and gang did the following:

1) Incorporate 3%, 4%, and 5% front-end fees for the amount of outstanding loan in the beginning of year 1, 2, and 3 of the Galaxy Loan. That is $1,500,000, $1,600,000, and $1,500,000 respectively. A total of $4,600,000 to be paid as front-end fees to an unknown party.

2) They told this ultra-high net worth member that the mark-up was needed to help pay for the $20,000,000 + “loans” secretly borrowed from other churches and individuals to redeem the Xtron and FIRNA bonds after the CAD raid in May 2010.

The continuous plundering weighed on the finances of City Harvest Church. It was so bad that the progress payment for Galaxy Loan could not be repaid in Year 2.

John Lam, despite his suspension by COC, worked on and put up a refinancing proposal.

The new Investment Committee recommended against the refinancing proposal as hefty multi-year front-end fees were again incorporated for the 5-year deal.

In the financial markets, a 3-5% and multi-year front-end fee is highly suspicious and inappropriate, especially when it is not clear on who is actually receiving the fees.

Glory Capital Loan:

After the failed attempt at refinancing, Kong Hee and gang then bypassed the new Investment Committee and put Bobby Chaw as the front person to do the Glory Capital Loan.

Kong Hee and gang craftily structured the Glory Capital Loan to achieve the following:

1) “Legitimize” the questionable multi-year front-end fee as if it is a normal practice in the financial industry.

2a) Artificially boosted the value of Suntec Convention Center to $500,000,000 by giving it a conversion price of $46,000,000 for the 9.2% stake to be forfeited by Glory Capital; should City Harvest Church default on the loan.

2b) The actual conversion price is only $33,000,000 as there is an irrevocable front-end fee of $13,000,000 to be paid to Glory Capital even if the forfeiture takes place. This will give Suntec Convention Centre a valuation of $358,700,000.

2c) City Harvest Church acquired the 39.2% stake at $97,8000,000, valuing Suntec Convention Centre at $249,500,000.

However, Suntec REIT carried out a $180,000,000 Asset Enhancement Initiative to give Suntec Convention Center a facelift, the liability of City Harvest Church’s 39.2% stake in Suntec Convention Center is $70,560,000.

3) In essence, City Harvest Church will most likely retire the outstanding $42,000,000 of the non-performing $50,000,000 Galaxy Loan by forgoing a 9.2% stake in Suntec Convention Center.

This is after paying at least $30,000,000+ in fees and interest to both Galaxy Capital and Glory Capital.

4) Eventually, City Harvest Church will retain a 30% stake in Suntec Convention Centre, projected to yield a dividend income of $3,000,000 – $5,000,000 a year.

City Harvest Church also assumed a liability of $54,000,000 for the $180,000,000 renovation loan taken up by Suntec REIT.

In summary:

1) It is unlikely that the initial NDA in 2010 was the initiative of the vendor (Indonesian consortium) as the cost of shifting, equipment, and minor renovation did not concern the vendor at all.

Motive:
Kong Hee and gang used the NDA to “mask” the true composition of the $310,000,000 “deal”.

It is absurb that City Harvest Church asked the congregation to progressively pay up $310,000,000 just to own a 20% stake in Suntec Convention Center and rent 44% of the space on weekends only for 10 years; when the property was valued at only $219,000,000 at the time of purchase!

2) The Arise and Build Fund was cleverly mandated to pay for the rental of premises also. This is a financially imprudent practice of matching a recurring long-term rental expense with an extraordinary ad-hoc income of Arise of Build Campaigns.

It is clear that the stated goal for the investment in Suntec Convention Center to self-sustain cannot be achieved. ($3,000,000 to $5,000,000 dividend income versus $15,000,000 – $30,000,000 in rental/shifting/service fees)

Motive:
This frees up more than $10,000,000 from the general operating budget of City Harvest Church. Kong Hee and gang can then freely allocate these funds in the general operating budget to “Mission Donations” with little transparency and accountability.

A case in point, City Harvest Church donated $3,000,000 to City Harvest Church KL.

We understand that the City Harvest Church KL only got to keep $300,000. The balance $2,700,000 was promptly distributed as follows:

a) $1,700,000 was distributed to Mark Kwan and Henry Chee.
b) $1,000,000 was distributed to Sun’s “Singaporean supporting crew” in USA as “hardship allowance”.

3) The non-permanent nature of the premises at Expo Changi and Suntec Convention Center entailed constant shifting each year.

Motive:
Hefty mark-up in shifting costs when hundreds of volunteers helped out with the moves. Some people are getting very rich. Just ask Henry Chee.

4) There is so much “fat” built into the $310,000,000 “deal”. After the acquisition of an additional 19.2% stake at $54,000,000, the “deal” still stands at $310,000,000.

Aries shamelessly thanked that people who are doing the shifting for their hard work to make the “savings” possible.

Motives:
This will give Kong Hee and gang the means to fleece the church while making the yearly Arise and Build Campaign a necessity for a long time to come.

To my dear brothers and sisters in City Harvest Church:

You might have been told that the leadership had “Right Motives, Wrong Methods.”
You might have been told that God had given Kong Hee a vision to reach out to the lost souls through cultural mandate.
You might have been told all the siphoning and unlawful acts are to fulfill God’s vision given to a man of God.
I will leave it to you to decide what you want to do.

The funds that are being round-tripped and debated in Singapore court recently; at least now we know where these monies ended up – funding the lavish lifestyle and personal ambitions of Kong Hee and Sun.

But there is at least another $10,000,000 to $20,000,000 of God’s money that was/is being siphoned off each year through mark-up in procurements and services provided to City Harvest Church, and dubious “Mission Donations” with little transparency and accountability.

Whose pockets did these monies end up in?

What is Kong Hee’s net worth?
No one really knows but some in the know guess it is in the region of $40,000,000 to 70,000,000.

Recently, many OMs and MMs watched Reverend Bobby Chaw on stage trying in vain to convince them that the borrowing of $50,000,000 (12.5-15% interest rate + a total of $17,600,000 in irrevocable front-end fees) to buy an additional 19.2% stake of Suntec Convention Center was such a shrewd investment (3-4 +% dividend yield).

Reverend Bobby did not even bother to explain why the Arise and Build Funds were so depleted in the first place.

Many of these members must be thinking:
Is this the guy that I want to lead myself and my family in our spiritual walk?

Kong Hee and gang are going to kick start another round of Arise and Build in October 2013, with 6, 7, or 8 more to come.

If you think Kong Hee and gang should be exposed, please forward this article to any member of City Harvest Church that you know, or anyone you think that may know a member of City Harvest Church.

God bless.

CHC Confessions also had another fascinating post. If you would like to know more about where Kong Hee got the false “Seven Pillars of the Cultural Mandate” teaching, tune into this episode of Fighting for the Faith. Listen to the second hour where Chris Rosebrough reviews C. Peter Wagner, (who is the founder of the ‘New Apostolic Reformation’).

It’s worth noting that Phil Pringle is influenced by the teachings of Peter Wagner. There is no way that Kong Hee was suddenly ordained by God to fulfill a “Cultural Mandate”. It is more likely he was influenced by men like Pringle or Wagner and decided to call it something else to stand out in the community of Asian churches.

The confessor writes,

In principle, you can’t fault PK’s sermon last weekend. He spoke about the seven pillars of the Cultural Mandate: Religion, Family, Business, Education, Government, Arts & Entertainment and Media

What he said in his 70-minute long sermon, I can summarise in one minute – Be the salt and light wherever God has planted you, You can be a Daniel and a Joseph if you rise to the top of your profession where you can be in a position of influence whether for society, your company, your nation and ultimately to propagate the gospel. Nothing wrong with this.

The problem is that PK was using this sermon to justify Sun’s crossover into the pillar of Arts & Entertainment. Why is it a problem? Because in the first place, Sun is not a pop star and never will be. And after getting caught with his hands in a cookie jar he is now using the Cultural Mandate as an excuse. After years of denying any use of CHC funds for Sun’s career, suddenly it’s now – yes we did use millions of (the-sky-is-the-limit) dollars belonging to the church to TRY to make her a pop star but it was all part of the Cultural Mandate.

Daniel and Joseph did not have to “pretend” to be somebody they were not. They didn’t have to compromise or manipulate to get into their position of influence. The got there through simple obedience to God and non-compromise to the world. What Sun did in Hollywood was a TOTAL opposite from these men of God. Before she even got near to any genuine position of fame, success and influence, she was already compromising big time. I don’t have to remind anyone of China Wine, Mr Bill, photos with porn stars, tongue hanging out and fingers in a vulgar sign. Boobs half hanging out in tasteless photos. Was all that suppose to win people to Christ?

If this Sun Ho/Crossover/Cultural Mandate excuse holds water, does that mean it’s alright for PK to use the building fund to enter into politics to assimilate himself into the pillar of Government?

Members of CHC, I was there in USA with her for some months. Just use a simple litmus test – did this whole saga bring praise to Jesus… or shame?

When this whole thing started with COC, PK said there will be no problem. When CAD arrested them, he said there will be no charges. Now after two tranches of court trials, he tells you this whole episode will end in 2014 and then God will bring about a revival because of his sacrifice in going through this difficult time. He may finally be right after all cos there is definitely a good chance of a real revival after he goes to jail.

A contributor from CHC Confessions recently provided the following information:

“Just found a church prayer list dated June 2005. Check out the checklist for praying for Pastor Kong and Sun. Items include praying for SUN to have the wisdom to decide on the US$5 million singing contract with a major American recording label. Hasn’t Tonos entertainment closed down by then?”

CHC CONFESSIONS: CHURCH FUNDS ALSO LIKELY TO HAVE PAID FOR KONG’S ENTOURAGE

A CHC member has revealed that Church funds could have been used to fund more than just Sun Ho’s Music Career. He alleges that funds were also likely to have been used for City College and O School, as well as paying for Kong Hee’s Entourage when he had international speaking engagements.

There have been a lot of concerns over the use of church funds by city harvest.

There has been much unhappiness over the abuse of church funds to buy a stake in suntec city. This is especially so when the money could be used to help the poor instead of enriching kong hee and his cronies. There have been many instances where ex-CHC have stepped forward to expose the church’s wrong doings.

Another courageous ex-CHC member has stepped forward to speak the truth.

I would like to invite all to discuss on the possible legal implications and social reprecussion of the abuse of church funds by Kong Hee and cronies. This is what the ex-CHC Member had to say:

1. Miss Ho Yeow Sun’s entourage includes two dancers. They can be seen dancing in Miss Ho’s recent music video, Fancy Free. These dancers are instructors of O School, which is funded by City College (that gets funds from City Harvest). These dance instructors are residing in the United States, residing in Miss Ho’s Los Angeles home. This brings to question if City Harvest is indirectly paying for Miss Ho’s dancers.

2. Xtron Productions have several employees who are board and executive members. Several on its payroll hold positions of leadership in the audio, lighting and media ministries. In November 2009, Rev. Kong Hee had a speaking engagement to Sacramento, California, several church employees (worship band, singers, and media personnel) were flown there with all expenses paid by the Church. In addition to that, Xtron employees were involved in the trip. If the speaking engagement was for the benefit of Rev. Kong, the question is, who pays for the cost to fly and accommodate his entourage?

It is known that Rev. Kong is not a salaried employee of City Harvest church. He relies on speaking engagement fees, love gifts and the royalties of his sermons and bible study material. However, how does the church draw the line between his personal speaking engagements and his service on behalf of the church? Also, why the need for Xtron employees to be part of the trip if this was promoted to church members as a missions trip? For many of Rev. Kong’s international speaking engagement, there is an employee from Xtron present to take photographs and record videos. Is City Harvest Church paying for the services or is the Reverend absorbing the costs?

….

May those who have read my comments and felt there is validity in it share the burden I have. I have been very careful in my choice of words and tone by which I make my comments. I could have given the names of the owners of Xtron Produtions, who are board and executive members. Unfortunately, my position does not permit or grant me the liberty to be a whistle blower.

Please understand that I am caught between a rock and a hard place. In 2003, when Roland Poon pointed out the church’s support of Miss Ho’s singing career, I witness the ugliness of hate. However, at the same time, I saw the pain in the eyes of church members who were deeply affected by the media slaughter of the church.

Over the course of days, I question if this was the right time to disclose the information that I have given. Why? Because many of the employees of Xtron, City College, Citycare, Little Big, O School, and along with the staff of City Harvest Church are fully aware of what goes on behind the scenes. Many have families with young children and mortgages and car payments to worry about. There are a large number of individuals dependent on how this system works. Sadly, it is snowballing into something monstrous.

From my heart,
Soren

Editor’s Note: This is a post made on Sg Forums a while ago, before the depth of the misuse of funds was known clearly. The point this writer makes about the pain of church followers seeing their funds misused is a good point. Many church members gave generously from their heart in the past and it is clearly painful for them to see their funds going to places they did not know or expect. Maybe some of the members now are still fooling themselves, and hoping, perhaps for their own funds’ sake, that Pastor Kong + Co are not guilty.
