Exec Pastor Mark Kelsey

C3 DOESN’T HAVE THEOLOGICAL/BIBLE COLLEGES

Solid theological churches with theologically trained ministers don’t generally need to have Bible Colleges with their churches. Qualified teachers should be able to educate the congregation to the best of their knowledge. Often a member can question ministers and ministers will be open for correction or will happily provide members with material to spiritually grow in. As a result, the congregation grows in the Wisdom of God.

Because C3 members generally can’t discuss in depth what is being taught on Sundays, the structures provide it’s members to discuss their teachings in their C3 bible study groups (aka Connect Groups).

Unfortunately, the content isn’t deep. C3 therefore encourages it’s members to go to their colleges to learn, if you have a passion to learn about God. However, it is important to establish that the C3 Colleges are NOT bible colleges or theological colleges. C3’s 1985 Ministry Training College Prospectus says on pg 2,

“We are not a “theological college” though we teach theology, nor even a “bible college” per se, but a ministry training college where students learn biblically how to be effective in the work force of Jesus.

You will learn how to pray, how to move in the anointing of the Holy Spirit, how to preach the word of God, how to set your faith loose, how to study the Bible and numerous other essential skills.”

Christian City Church Ministry Training College PROSPECTUS 1985

More articles will be written on this topic later.

THE EIGHTH DIMENSION

The above statement by C3 has proven to be true. Mark Kelsey is proof of this.

In the first term of 2007, I had to take a class called ‘Life In Ministry’.  School of Creative Art (SCA) students had to take this class with School of Ministry (SOM) students. Mark Kelsey, the Executive Pastor, was our lecturer. He demonstrated effectively that both Christian City Church Colleges were not theologically or biblically based colleges.

I disagreed with the course content since Mark Kelsey continually taught from this diagram for the majority of the lessons we had with him:

Where is this in the bible? The only thing I found biblical about this diagram was that in the world we need to get a revelation to get into the Kingdom of God.

While loosely applying very few verses in the bible, Mark Kelsey made this up. Each segment was called a ‘dimension’. The way you access the next ‘dimension’ was by crossing the ‘bridge’ to the next dimension, usually through works. It’s important to note that the way you progress up the pyramid to the visionary status of the head C3 Pastor Phil Pringle, is through works of commitment, submission, discipline, responsibility and authority.

Mark Kelsey also drew a snake under the diagram at one point to teach that offense can make us fall back a dimension or take us back to the beginning again. It looked as though he was teaching an Amway scheme of ‘Snakes and Ladders’.

I didn’t want to do the assessment that was in relation to this and tried to protest my way out of doing something so stupid. Some students actually discussed the peculiarity of this subject, discussing the theology and practicality of it. They were confused. Some SCA students inquired how this was biblical in class, (not the SOM students). Unfortunately, none of us found that we could approach C3 College staff to address this peculiar teaching. Since the majority of the students were under 25, none felt they could actually object the class content and the assessment we had to complete in relation to the diagram

I found the entire approach Mark Kelsey was teaching about ministry was unbiblical, religious and pointless. As a result, I purposely went out of my way to mock the assessment. I was shocked to receive an ‘A’ for my efforts.

C3 College Class Assessment

I purposely went out of my way to be proud and not humble. I exalted myself of being prophetic, counselor-like, leadership material.

To get an ‘A’ for an assessment I treated as a joke reveals Mark Kelsey’s lack of competency and understanding as a minister, pastor or teacher of God’s Word and His Church. A thorough examination and training in the letters to Timothy of the bible would have been much more beneficial to students. Instead – Mark Kelsey made up his own theology and had us submit to his teachings.

THE EIGHT CORRECTIONS

The issues with the Amway-like diagram results in people and God favouring those who are in the upper class dimensions. Scriptures teach us that we are all on the same level playing field. While God does delegate certain people for certain roles, gifts and offices, God uses all of us and has no favourites (As C3 members say, ‘God is no respecter of persons’). All Christians:

1. … still sin. (1 John 1:8)

2. … are part of Christs church, therefore included as part of the Kingdom of God. (Matthew 16:19 – Read Gills Commentary on this.) (Mark Kelsey taught we are not of the church until we chose to commit ourselves to the church).

3. … are to be humble servants like Christ and be “with humility of mind” regarding others “as more important than” ourselves (Philippians 2:3-8).

4. … are to submit to one another. (Ephesians 5:21)

5. … are to minister to God’s people and those in the world. (2 Corinthians 5:18, Galatians 6:2, Ephesians 4:29, Romans 12:10)

6. … are called to be responsible. (1 Corinthians 7, Hebrews 4:13, Colossians 3:23, )

7. … are committed to the cause and vision of Christ. (Colossians 2:8, 2 Corinthians 5:18, Hebrews 3:12, 1John 5:20, 1 John 1:2, 1 John 5:5, 1 John 5:13, 2Peter 3:9, Romans 16:27)

8. … are under the authority and pledge loyal integrity to Christ. (Ephesians 5:24, Ephesians 1:22, Ephesians 5:21, 1Peter 1:7-9, 1Peter 3:14-17, Romans 16:27, Jude 1:25, Colossians 3:13, 1 John 3:16)

Hebrews 4 addresses that all people in the church are to grow together in fulness, maturity and unity in Christ. The gifts of God are there to help bring the church to the standard of Christ.

It is disturbing that Mark Kelsey calls students up on their loyalty to gain positions and titles within a church-like structure. Cults will often call people to pledge their loyalty to their leaders and movements. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles and moral uprightness. Integrity is greater then loyalty.

Mark Kelsey seems to disagree with the scriptures by forcing students to submit to his made up diagrams that supposedly look biblical. Then again. He is fulfilling the C3 College mandate that they are neither a “theological college” or “bible college”. We will see another sample of C3 College inventing their own theology in another article similar to this.

Edit: One member in C3 Leadership have confirmed that the ‘school’ existed. It was stated,

“.. International School of the Church was run at C3 Church for Church planters, I actually lectured in it – it is still advertised in some of Ps Phil’s books if they were published when it was in operation.”

“… we definitely had an ISOC- just how long it ran I am not sure of.”

We speculate that it may not exist now. Many other C3 leaders do not know it ever existed.

Phil Pringle released a new book last year called ‘Hope’ in 2011. At the book is a segment about the author. Philip Andrew Pringle writes (emphasis mine),

“He [Pringle] has overseen the planting of new churches in major cities throughout the world. Today, there are more than 300 C3 Churches around the globe, which collectively make up C3 Church Global, with a combined membership of more than 75,000. In addition to its renowned teaching ministry, C3 has an internationally acclaimed, accredited education program that includes kindergarten through high school, and offers baccalaureate degrees in disciplines that include:

  • The School of Ministry, which trains ministers and develops powerful ministries.
  • The School of Creative Arts, focusing in all disciplines of the arts.
  • The Pastoral Care and Counseling College.
  • The International School of the Church, which trains pastors and teams to plant churches and take the Word of God to new levels of growth.” – Phil Pringle, Hope, About The Author, 2011.

We’ve already discussed Pringle’s false information regarding that his colleges provide “baccalaureate degrees”:

About Phil Pringle: Well The Author Is Confusing & Misleading About His Colleges

Pringle says that “baccalaureate degrees” are offered to students in his ‘International School of the Church’ (ISC). But this is a problem.

The ‘International School of the Church’ does not seem to exist. The ‘International School of the Church’ is mentioned in his book online, “Top 10 Qualities Of A Great Leader” (emphasis mine).

“Ministries of Christian City Church include: School of Creative Arts, Pastoral Care and Counseling College, the International School of the Church, Jesus Television, and Seam of Gold Recording.” – Top 10 Qualities Of A Great Leader, http://books.google.com.au/books/about/Top_10_Qualities_of_a_Great_Leader.html?id=rJDrhB-05twC&redir_esc=y, (Accessed 07/02/2012).

And in the book itself (emphasis mine),

“Christian City Church Oxford Falls has a School of Ministry, developing powerful ministries for the future; a School of Creative Arts, developing ministries in the Arts; Pastoral Care and Counselling College; the International School of the Church, which trains pastors and teams to plant churches and take the churches to new levels of growth; a business course…” – Top 10 Qualities Of A Great Leader, 2007.

It is also mentioned online here (emphasis mine),

“Ministries of Christian City Church include: School of Creative Arts, Pastoral Care and Counseling College, the International School of the Church, Jesus Television, and Seam of Gold Recording.” – Top 10 Qualities of a Great Leader, Books Express, Biographical Note, http://www.books-express.ro/book/9781577949398/Top-10-Qualities-of-a-Great-Leader.html. (Accessed 08/02/2012)

And on this website as well (emphasis mine),

“Ministries of Christian City Church include: School of Creative Arts, Pastoral Care and Counseling College, the International School of the Church, Jesus Television, and Seam of Gold Recording.” – Top 10 Qualities of a Great Leader, eCampus, Author Biography, http://www.ecampus.com/top-10-qualities-great-leader-pringle-phil/bk/9781577949398. (Accessed 08/02/2012)

It is also mentioned in this online Harrison House Spring 09 catalogue (emphasis mine),

“DR. PHIL PRINGLE is an author, songwriter, artist, and Senior Minister of one of Australia’s fastest growing churches, Christian City Church in Oxford Falls, Australia, with over 4,000 members. Dr Pringle also oversees approximately 200 churches worldwide that make up Christian City Church International. Ministries of Christian City Church include: School of Creative Arts, Pastoral Care and Counseling College, the International School of the Church, Jesus Television, and Seam of Gold Recording. Pastor Pringle has spent over 30 years as a pastor, trainer, and leader, sending out hundreds of ministers to plant churches in major cities of the world.” – Harrison House Spring09 Catalogue, 2009. (Emphasis mine)

All we came across in our 11 hour search was Pringle promoting his ‘International School of the Church’. Above is all the information we could find. We don’t know where Phil Pringle’s school exists.

THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL IS NOT PROMOTED AT C3 COLLEGES

I personally attended the C3 College for three years from 2007 to 2009. Not once was the ISC ever promoted. Not once did I ever hear about it, (which is unusual for C3 not to market to international students in their colleges). This ISC does not exist at C3 or on the internet.

We encourage people to search for “International School of the Church” on the web. It can’t be found.

We can only come to 2 conclusions.

1. Phil Pringle promotes himself with this made up school. Or

2. The ISC has been renamed something else.

If the second option was true, then their would be some notification through the web or at the C3 College that there was a name change. We have found no information to say this has happened. I personally asked a C3 leader in the movement if they have heard of the ISC. They haven’t.

Even a C3 College lecturer is not aware of Pringle’s ‘International School of the Church’. Therefore, we are led to believe that the “International School of the Church” does not exist.

About Phil Pringle: Well The Author Is Confusing & Misleading About His Colleges

We at C3 Church Watch have already questioned if the typo in Phil Pringle’s book Top 10 Qualities of a Great Leader, was a typo or not.

“Today, Dr. Phil Pringle oversees the approximately 1,200 churches that make up Christian City Church International throughout the world, a significant proportion planted directly from Christian City Church Oxford Falls.” – About the Author DR. PHIL PRINGLE, Top 10 Qualities of a Great Leader, 2007, pg. 227.

We discussed how flippant Phil Pringle is with his church statistics in this article:

Does Phil Pringle Distort Church Statistics For Personal Gain?

We have counted that he has 243 churches. Pringle updated his profile on his website last year, stating he ‘oversees the approximately 258 churches’, while in his services promotes he has ‘nearly five hundred’ churches in his movement. A commenter on C3 Church Watch has stated, ‘He [Phil Pringle] nearly always says it’s around 500’ (see comment section in the above link).

Phil Pringle released a new book last year called ‘Hope’ in 2011. Pringle writes (emphasis mine),

“He [Pringle] has overseen the planting of new churches in major cities throughout the world. Today, there are more than 300 C3 Churches around the globe, which collectively make up C3 Church Global, with a combined membership of more than 75,000. • The Pastoral Care and Counseling College.
  • The International School of the Church, which trains pastors and teams to plant churches and take the Word of God to new levels of growth.” – Phil Pringle, Hope, About The Author, 2011.

This information is not true. Previous articles have revealed that C3 does NOT have over 300 churches. What is also untrue is that NONE of his colleges offer courses that supply “baccalaureate degrees”. The last degree students finished at the end of 2009 and graduated in summer school, February 2010. The graduation ceremony was in April and May. C3 Colleges no longer were running any more degree classes onsite in 2010. Why?

PERSONAL TESTIMONY

When I was involved at C3 Creative Arts College, C3 tried to establish an arts degree program. I was guaranteed that this was obtainable if I signed up for the arts degree program. They failed to get their program recognised.

However, they resulted in supplying creative arts students a theology degree program. However, when the Sydney College of Divinity investigated C3 College’s conduct on their theology degree program, they found many problems.

C3 were not to continue their theology degree program any more. I was with the last batch of students to obtain a degree from the C3 College.

PROOF C3 COLLEGES DO NOT PROVIDE DEGREE PROGRAMS

If none believe what I say, below is what the colleges offer.  Check out their college website here: http://www.c3college.com/main/. You will find that none offer “baccalaureate degrees”.

“COURSES OFFERED: ADVANCED DIPLOMA, DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE IV OF CREATIVE ARTS IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY, SPECIALISING IN ACTING AND THEATRECRAFT” – C3 College, http://www.c3college.com/main/creative/acting-and-theatrecraft, (Accessed 07/02/2012).

“COURSES OFFERED: ADVANCED DIPLOMA, DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE IV OF CREATIVE ARTS IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY, SPECIALISING IN CONTEMPORARY MUSIC / VOCALS AND WORSHIP LEADING” – C3 College, http://www.c3college.com/main/creative/contemporary-music-vocals-and-worship-leading, (Accessed 07/02/2012).

“COURSES OFFERED: ADVANCED DIPLOMA, DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE IV OF CREATIVE ARTS IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY, SPECIALISING IN CONTEMPORARY SONGWRITING” – C3 College, http://www.c3college.com/main/creative/contemporary-song-writing, (Accessed 07/02/2012).

“COURSES OFFERED: ADVANCED DIPLOMA, DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE IV OF CREATIVE ARTS IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY, SPECIALISING IN CONTEMPORARY VISUAL ARTS” – C3 College, http://www.c3college.com/main/creative/contemporary-visual-arts, (Accessed 07/02/2012).

“COURSES OFFERED: ADVANCED DIPLOMA, DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE IV OF CREATIVE ARTS IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY, SPECIALISING IN CONTEMPORARY DANCE” – C3 College, http://www.c3college.com/main/creative/contemporary-dance, (Accessed 07/02/2012).

“COURSES OFFERED: ADVANCED DIPLOMA, DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE IV OF CREATIVE ARTS IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY, SPECIALISING IN SCREEN PRODUCTION” – C3 College, http://www.c3college.com/main/creative/screen-production, (Accessed 07/02/2012).

C3’s Creative College reveals their Creative Arts Core Program does not offer “baccalaureate degrees”.

“Core Studies are on Tuesday and Thursdays in Certificate IV and Diploma and on Tuesdays in the Advanced Diploma, leaving the other days free for training in your chosen area of skill.”

Instead they offer,

“Core areas of study for all students over the one year full-time equivalent programme include:

Certificate IV

  • Church Planting
  • Pastoral Theology
  • Theology and Film” – C3 College, http://www.c3college.com/main/creative/creative-arts-core-program, (Accessed 07/02/2012).

The C3 College Creative Stream (aka SCA) does not offer “baccalaureate degrees”.  The Leadership and Ministry Stream are no different. In Year 1, students get a Certificate IV in Leadership and Ministry courses.

In Year 2, students get a Diploma:

In Year 3, students get an Advanced Diploma. ‘Youth and Young Adults’ and ‘Pastoral Care’ is an elective within the Leadership and Ministry Stream. They do not offer “baccalaureate degrees”.

His online college and night schools also offer no “baccalaureate degrees”. No information can be found here at Night School (http://www.c3college.com/main/home/night-school) or C3 College Online (http://c3collegeonline.com/).

Therefore, we can conclude that Phil Pringle is misleading his readers into believing he offers quality education.

PRINGLE PURPOSELY CONFUSING READERS

It is not right for Phil Pringle to lump the educational quality of Oxford Falls Grammar School (OFGS) with his lack of quality education in his colleges:

“accredited education program that includes kindergarten through high school, and offers baccalaureate degrees in disciplines that include…”

OFGS may have students attend C3 Colleges after graduation and obtain scholarships. However, the educational quality is very different. Pringle’s 1985 Prospectus for his Ministry Training College says,

“We are not a “theological college” though we teach theology, nor even a “bible college” per se, but a ministry training college where students learn biblically how to be effective in the work force of Jesus.” – Ministry Training College Prospectus, 1985, pg 2.

An example of poor education for both colleges are as follows (more articles will be provided later):

C3 College & Dave Sumrall Teaching ‘All Sorts Of Evil’

C3 College: Misrepresenting The Gospel?

C3 has a track record of inviting some of the worst Christian teachers to speak at their colleges which they consider to be “most gifted and experienced ministers“.

CONCLUSION

If anyone has any information about the ISC, please email us at c3churchwatch@hotmail.com. We would like to look into this further if possible.

In relation to this, Pringle has misled his readers to believe…

1. That his church colleges offer “baccalaureate degrees” in:

     a) School of Ministry.

     b) School of Creative Arts “focusing in all disciplines of the arts”.

     c) The Pastoral Care and Counseling College.

     d) The International School of the Church.

2. That he oversees 300 C3 Churches when facts reveal this not to be the case.

It’s been more than a year for Pringle to know that his colleges do not run degree programs. We have constantly demonstrated that Pringle is flippant with the truth about the number of churches in his movement for his own convenience. If this is not intentional, then Pringle needs to stop failing the high standard he sets in his C3 Movement.

Pringle needs to explain why he misinforms readers about himself in his books.

If you feel lead to pray for Phil Pringle and the C3 Movement, please do. Please pray for Phil Pringle to be an accountable and responsible leader.

FALSE TEACHERS TEACHING C3 COLLEGE STUDENTS

Whether a student is studying Cert II, Cert IV, Diploma or Degree, ALL C3 students had to listen to certain speakers. My personal experience when studying at C3 College included Kong Hee and Dave Sumrall speak to classes in both the Creative Stream and the Leadership Stream (formerly known as School of Creative Arts (SCA) and School of Ministry (SOM)).

C3 College & Dave Sumrall Teaching ‘All Sorts Of Evil’

When reading Dave Sumrall’s motivation behind his sermon, it is pretty clear he is purely groom C3 College students for Pringle’s Vision Builders Giving Event and abusing scripture. Many students either rely on their parents financially, Centrelink or on the very little money they get.

Kong Hee Sermon At C3 College (Snippets)

Oddly enough, both Sumrall and Hee’s teachings to C3 students are about money. These are just a few examples of what to expect in C3 Colleges.

BENNY HINN AT C3 OXFORD FALLS

College Students do a course called ‘Ministry Placement’. This course requires students to work hours in ministry. It could be in their own church or in the C3 movement. Benny Hinn came to C3 Church in 2006. To get some of my hours up, I served at a Benny Hinn conference at C3 Church Oxford Falls for a few days in 2007. The deputy principle advised C3 College students to serve at Hinn’s Conference to make the most of it and learn from him for free (all people attending had to pay to go see him teach and perform).

He talked on anointing, power and money. Here are some of my notes in Benny Hinn’s Conference at C3 Church Oxford Falls.

“How to increase the anointing: Hunger, unity – oneness in the Spirit (Acts 1:12), Worship (2Kings 3:15), Prayer (Acts 4:29-34), Association … (Acts 4:13, Num 27:18).

You can experience a decent so worship, unite again & stir up hunger. Luke 20:3-32 -> heart life. Acts 19:12 Paul releases his power on hanky. Mark 6:56. 100% of anointing will effect objects. Demons are from Pre-Adamic race. Not fallen angels. 5 Division of Angels – Seraphim (Declare), Cherabim (Protect), Living Ones – Thousands of Eyes (Judgment), Arc Angels, Common Angel (no wings). Under Satan’s domain he had demons.

1 – Sheol Abode of the dead (Hades/Hell). 2 – Paradise Abode of the saints (Abrahams Bosom). 3 – Tartarus Abode of the wicked angels (Prison). 4 – Pit/Abyss Abode of Demons. 5 – Gehenna/Lake of fire – all wicked go. Lev 14 – The oil is found in the blood. God’s blood was shed seven times. Ear lobe, thumb and toe… “Give to God, not to man, not to ministries. You wont feel offended when they use it.”

Anointing/Gods power multiplies. Presence = BE. Power = DO. We don’t need gifts in heaven, we only need them now. Presence is always maintained. It doesn’t grow. His power does. “Take more of me” = flesh cancelled. “Come closer” = x flesh fed. God’s power is multiplied & it can be imparted. You can’t impart Jesus/presence, only God’s power. Presence protects you from God’s power. People seek God’s power which is destructive. Seek life: Jesus (Presence). Ecc 9:8

God’s presence is fully in you. Job 29:6 -> Deuteronomy 32:13. Anointing is hard to receive and hard to keep… Matt 17:17 Effects of the anointing: feel full. Feel light as though you are flying. It was so powerful you should – you feel power not His presence. If anointing is dripping through, one person can take it out of you. Feel fire all over you. “Fire can hit your mouth”. Dan 10:10 Shaking or trembling. ‘Joy’ bubbling. Psalm 45:1

Moses, like Jesus, came down the mount in glory… the lighter I get, the stronger the power is… Distraction breaks the anointing. Focus on how real Jesus is and don’t be distracted! If you can reach that level, don’t lose it. Otherwise build from scratch. Distraction is Satan’s weapon to bring you down. Possible to start engines again in midflight. Don’t start them up when you’re about to land. You’ll crash! Impart the anointing when not your feet, or knees or neck are wet, but when you are full under it, swimming. Feel it grow from your feet to the top of your head.”

In this service Benny Hinn talked for many hours on money. He asked people in the congregation who was in debt. I was at the very back of the room looking down at the entire congregation. More than 90% of the people who were in the room put up their hands (including pastors). It was truly a sad sight. It was then that I realised I had the horrifying job as an usher to exploit these poor people financially. Hinn told people to write their hearts desire on the back of an envelope and to put their money in it. He then prayed his prayer to God over people’s sacrificial giving.

First off, I made jokes that were to prevent people give their money to Benny Hinn (“No time to waste! If you want that hot wife, give us your cash!”). People enjoyed the jokes but insisted in giving their cash much to my utter shame. I was representing my home church, C3 and Jesus. I was torn. I was completely paralyzed and shut down. I refused to do it – but was given the giving buckets in my hand by an older usher.

Against my own will – I collected people’s money for Benny Hinn. People were buying their miracle. I was crying inside. I was wondering how I could forgive myself, or even God forgiving me after participating in this fleece-a-thon. I was upset all week. This was my personal experience as a C3 College student.

Many other students received his teachings. A friend of mine on the second night was ‘slain in the Spirit’ by Benny Hinn. We were in a worship course on Wednesday where my friend was a complete mess. When I later talked to him – my friend talked about Benny Hinn ‘slaying him in the spirit’. He was an emotional wreck. I knew then and there that Hinn could not be operating under the power of the Holy Spirit if my friend had not emotionally recovered from being ‘slain’ by the spirit.

Someone else at this event went to the front to Benny Hinn. While Hinn was moving under his so-called ‘anointing’, this person took a photo of Hinn at the front. As the flash went off, Benny Hinn stopped what he was doing and yelled angrily at the person saying that the anointing he was operating under had stopped. According to my notes – Benny Hinn’s plane just crashed. My latter theological lecturers from real universities and alternative theological colleges revealed how absurd the teachings of Benny Hinn, Dave Sumrall, Kong Hee and Phil Pringle actually were.

C3 CHURCH & C3 COLLEGES REBEL AGAINST GODS WORD

C3 invites many of these ‘Generals’ and ignores the scriptures. Jude demonstrates that people like Sumrall and Hee are perverters of God’s grace. C3 College is allowing such deceptive teachers to deceive students with their erroneous teachings.

“For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.” – Jude 1:4. (NASB)

“Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible.” – Apostle Paul, Eph 5:1-4. (NASB)

As the bible says, C3 Church and C3 College partake in fruitless deeds with darkness and don’t expose these false teachers they invite. Not only do students struggle to pay for their course, they are taught false things at their own expense. Students struggle to be blessed by God financially when they are told to submit to the practices and teachings of such teachers. As a student, I had to attend many of these destructive classes. It disturbed me greatly that I could not question their teachings, even after challenging the SCA principal on such matters.

WHAT ARE GODS GENERALS?

Gods Generals is a charismatic/pentecostal title that often is given to an outstanding, controversial Christian figure that brings some form of change to the church. Such people include William Branham, John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, Alexander Dowie or Charles Finnie, etc.

Unfortunately, the title itself does not necessarily encompass the theological or damaging implications of certain Generals. Some of the so-called ‘Gods Generals’ became cult-leaders, heretics, immoral or blasphemers. Some of these figures have been treated in a similar way to the dead saints in the Roman Catholic Church faith including  John G. Lake, Kathryn Kuhlman. For example, it is well-known such ministers like Benny Hinn, Bill Johnson, John Crowder and Todd Bentley visit grave sites of John G Lake, Kathryn Kuhlman or Alexander Dowie. Some pray at their graves or go further to receive their ministries, anointings, impartations or angels.

Ministers don’t need to die to be considered a General. Today a general can be defined as someone who is ‘radically impacting the world for Christ’. Theology and the message of salvation no longer define a General. The title has become more an outcomes title, based on how big or radical their church movement is.

FALSE TEACHERS IN THE ABOVE LIST OF GODS GENERALS

Some of the worlds worst or dangerous teachers that are mentioned in the above list include David Yonngi Cho, Bill Hybels, Joyce Meyer (Gnostic/Prosperity Teacher) , Kong Hee (Gnostic/Prosperity Teacher) , Jesse Duplantis (Prosperity Teacher), Michael Pitts (Prosperity Teacher) and TD Jakes (Oneness Pentecostal Cult teacher and TBN Prosperity Teacher).

We encourage readers to further research these people for themselves to provide C3 Church Watch with additional information.

Nancy Alcorn is president of the Mercy Ministries. Unfortunately, while helping many women with problems, a number of scandals have rocked through Mercy Ministries in Australia. Their counseling methods and treatment of women have been scrutinized by local media and the general public. C3 clearly invited her in the past, not wary of these scandals to come.

Joseph Garlington seems involved in some ecumenical movement in the US. In the past he was involved in the problematic Shepherding Movement and is still involved with the occult-like, pseudo-Christian cult, New Apostollic Reformation (NAR), movement. He often speaks in Prosperity Movement Conferences (Promise Keepers).  He also endorses the false teachings of Bill Johnson (he did a foreword to Bill Johnson’s book, Face to Face with God: The Quest to Experience His Presence).

Dick Bernall is also associated with the NAR and endorses false prophets on Elijah List. He is also known to preach the prosperity gospel as well.

Cathy Lechner has also been labeled as a soothsayer and false prophet. Her associations with some very questionable ministries demonstrate her inability to discern truth from error.

Kate Miner is a musician and is not to be associated with those above.

We value our readers contribution to the C3 Church Watch. Recently we had a student pass on their C3 College materials to us.

They said,

“I had to take a leadership course (much to my annoyance). PDF documents were given to us on a CD. These documents were our subject readings to help us with ministry and our assessments. Unfortunately, the students alongside me  in these classes were studying for a bachelor of theology.”

Do you think these resources meet the requirements for students studying at bachelor level? Are the methods taught morally sound?

‘Winning’ is a book written by Jack Welch of General Electrics (GE). Welch had manage to earn the company massive revenue. When Welch retired in 2001, GE’s revenue had grown from $26.8 billion to more than $410 billion by 2004. Because of the success and growing revenue that was caused by Welch, do you think the C3 Colleges want to create ministers for themselves with the same drive for success?

John Maxwell has been rightly critiqued on the web for his misuse of scripture. For example, Biblical Discernment says:

“Major concerns about Maxwell’s material, broadly speaking, are: First, the manner in which Maxwell handles the Scriptures to “teach” his principles is sometimes egregiously mistaken, i.e., the Bible is not teaching the principles that Maxwell contends it is. His handling of the Scripture indicates Maxwell does not know (or at least is not utilizing) the proper methods of Biblical interpretation. Second, Maxwell either implicitly or explicitly endorses some New Age teachers and doctrines. Third, Maxwell employs questionable theological doctrines—such as a mistaken notion of the miraculous, a conspicuous absence of the cross, and various psychological doctrines, including self-esteem psychology and temperaments psychology.” – John Beardsley, http://www.rapidnet.com/~jbeard/bdm/exposes/maxwell/general.htm, November 2003.

Dr. Richard G. Howe has a B.A. in Bible from Mississippi College, an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Mississippi, a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Arkansas. He is a Professor of Philosophy and Apologetics and Director of the Ph.D. program at Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, NC. He is also a contributing writer for the Christian Research Journal and has contributed to several apologetics books.1 Read his article on John Maxwell in the pdf below (emphasis mine):

Some Concerns about John C. Maxwell2

You will also observe that degree students were given extracts from Phil Pringle’s (head of the C3 Church Movement) books. These are some quotes from the above PDF ‘You The Leader’ by Phil Pringle that students had to read3:

“If we cannot serve a person who we can see, how can we serve a God whom we cannot see? Some just have to have their own thing and be the “boss”. I grieve for these people who have become the King of their own tiny mound, when they could have been a Prince in a major organization.” – Phil Pringle, You The Leader, pg 293-4.

“The people we choose are to “fight for us.” The people we choose must have the ability to fight and win. They have proven themselves in spiritual battles and triumphed. They are overcomers. They display consistently positive attitudes. These people do not just attend, support or watch, but they fight. For us! They do not just fight for their own victories. They fight for the church. They defend the Pastor when he’s criticized. They fight for the church’s reputation, health and her finances. They are genuine soldiers for God.” – Phil Pringle, You The Leader, pg 317.

“We have a program in our church called “Harvest Now.” Within this program are eight initiatives that are designed to reach the unchurched for Christ. One of those initiatives is contacting people who were previously members of our church and have slipped away. I so admire the people involved in this because they hear all the worst criticisms about the Pastor, about the church and about what we do, yet they keep reaching out to these people and eventually win them back to the Lord. These people have to be soldiers. They can’t be involved in the conversation, listening to all the disaffections of these people, (which often sound very plausible), and get swung over to the negative. There is a war with perceptions that are deposited in these people’s minds by the devil. Those involved in dismantling them must be tough enough to “fight for us”…

When we’re in the trenches being fired at, I don’t want soldiers at my side wondering why their leader is being fired upon. People like this can eventually turn their guns on their leader. They imagine the enemy must have good reason for shooting at him and so begin firing at him also… I want to know my guys will be loyal to me when the attacks are unjustified, and when they are justified.” – Phil Pringle, You The Leader, pg 317-318.

“I don’t expect to live my life without making a few mistakes. I want them to help me get through whatever the mistake is, so we can get to the end of this calling together. The church for too long has shot its wounded. We’ve got to heal fallen soldiers. Hopefully I have learned that if I give mercy, my people will return it when I need it. I’ve seen pastors who are hard and merciless on their people. When they make mistakes (which everyone does), mercy simply isn’t there. It has never been modeled. It’s not a part of their culture.” – Phil Pringle, You The Leader, pg 318.

“All the ministries in our churches, from Youth Leaders through to Music Directors and Associate Pastors are best “home-grown”. Abraham trained those who were born “in his own house,” to be an extremely effective band of soldiers (Gen 14:14)… Those people God gives us are rarely trained when they come. This is so that we can place our particular anointing and culture into their lives. They come unready, so that we can go to work at making them ready.” – Phil Pringle, You The Leader, pg 319.

“People can become anything under the right conditions.” – Phil Pringle, You The Leader, pg 319.

“Peter Wagner notes that men who have not had formal training but have been developed in “apprenticeship” situations lead all the fastest growing and largest churches of South America. They have been in harness with another man of God; doing the business, not just learning about it.” – Phil Pringle, You The Leader, pg 320.

“Abraham’s method is far preferable to getting someone from elsewhere. If people do come from outside, give them time to be “baptised” into the church, so they “own” the vision like everybody else. To become true sons and daughters of the church they need to drink the milk (accept the teaching), imbibe the spirit (accept the attitude of the church), and accept the name (be proud of belonging to your congregation).” – Phil Pringle, You The Leader, pg 320.

Another PDF Reader is taken from a book called ‘Understanding Influence for Leaders at all Levels’. Look at the contents of the book4:

One has to ask the following questions. Who in the Bible Colleges read this book and included it as a core reading for the students ‘Leadership Course’? Secondly, have they any discernment on what influence these teachings may have on Christian ministers who leave C3’s Bible College? The chapter given to students to read was Persuasion and influence by Caroline Hatcher. Some sub-chapters are ‘What Is Persuasion’, ‘Persuasion and Soft Control’, ‘The Power of Identification’, ‘Audience, Audience, Audience’ and ‘Winning Words’.

This pdf resource is teaching Christian students how to pdf persuasive and manipulative. Here are some excerpts (emphasis mine):

“… managers can increase their persuasive impact if their staff experience a heightened engagement within the interaction.” (pg. 44)

“The concept of rhetoric, or the art of persuasion, is based on the notion that language can act as a symbolic means of inducing cooperation because people, by their nature, respond to symbols.” (pg. 44)

A rather significant quote in this PDF is this one:

“An important part of persuasion occurs when managers and employees ‘imagine’ or envision together.” (pg. 44)

I would like to suggest that this pdf is actually a photocopy of the actual book that can actually be found in the C3 Library. I say this because in browsing C3’s libraries in the past, the books Pringle references in his own books can be found there. Consider this above statement in relation to what he said in his pdf ‘You The Leader’:

“Abraham’s method is far preferable to getting someone from elsewhere. If people do come from outside, give them time to be “baptised” into the church, so they “own” the vision like everybody else. To become true sons and daughters of the church they need to drink the milk (accept the teaching), imbibe the spirit (accept the attitude of the church), and accept the name (be proud of belonging to your congregation).” – Phil Pringle, You The Leader, pg 320.

It almost seems plausible that Phil Pringle has learnt the manipulative teachings of persuasion, put it into practice and justified this deceptive tactic by mangling scriptures to suit his purposes. Even if this speculation is wrong, the tactics taught are practically identical, one just disguised more with Christian jargon.

Caroline Hatcher continues:

“… we can also be persuaded more indirectly, when meaning is channeled through heuristic cues. These heuristic cues are the rules that guide how we make sense of the world. All of us carry rules around in our heads that we have learned from childhood and that we develop through our experience…  In other words, although the specifics of the message are important, many of the meta-messages-the messages about how to understand a message-are critical also and are part of the persuasive process. (pg. 44-45)

It is highly concerning that Phil Pringle and the C3 Colleges think it is ethical to train upcoming ministers to use such manipulative tactics within the church environment. This goes directly against scripture and the Spirit of God (emphasis mine):

“For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.” – Apostle Paul, 1 Corinthians 1:17

“And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.” – Apostle Paul, 1 Corinthians 2:1-4

For some say, “His [Paul’s] letters are weighty and forceful, but in person he is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing.” – Apostle Paul, 2 Corinthians 10:10

“I may not be a trained speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way.” – Apostle Paul, 2 Corinthians 11:6

“Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.” – Apostle Paul, 1 Corinthians 11:1

“Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you.” – Apostle Paul, 1 Philipians 3:17

“Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church. Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I shall find out, not the words of those who are arrogant but their power. For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.” – Apostle Paul, 1 Corinthians 4:16-20

The PDF later says (emphasis mine):

“You will need to consider whether your audience will oppose or agree with your ideas. You also need to consider their values and attitudes. The recent movie What women want with Mel Gibson explored just this idea. Gibson played a male chauvinist advertising agency star. He developed the ability to read women’s minds following an accident.  This new-found talent allowed Gibson to come up with advertisements that women loved. Why? He started with what women wanted rather than starting from his own perspective.

This facility of reaching into the mind of your audience might not be so simple outside life in the movies, but it does demonstrate that the real test of an effective message is not what the originator of the idea holds dear. Rather, understanding how the audience is thinking about an issue is critical, and respecting their perspective on things that will affect them will pay dividends.” (pg. 51)

However, it should be the desire and goal for upcoming Christians ministers to be persuasive only through the faithful preaching of God’s Word and in Godly conduct:

“Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so not according to worldly wisdom but according to God’s grace.”  – Apostle Paul, 2 Corinthians 1:12

The C3 College student ended their conversation with us with this:

“If any is curious what I did for my assessment with the above PDF’s, I treated the essay as a spoof. I wrote it like a parody and received a good mark. The lecturer even inquired if I had taken my concept from another persons work and didn’t acknowledge them.

Please feel free to pass this article on to others if they are considering studying at a C3 Bible/Leadership or Creative Arts College. Please make comments quoting the readings in case they point out some major concerns with C3’s educational values.”

In closing, we would like to challenge anyone reading this article to consider why C3’s Colleges gave this type of material to their B.A. students.5

Don’t you think C3 has a lot to gain if they developed students who were fed this type of material?
